Wow great to see a video on the very day the kit arrived! Thank you so much, we're delighted that feedback has already been so positive and it's really encouraging. The variants in on the sprues cover the Spitfire Mk.I early version (with the flat canopy,) the Mk.Ia, the Mk.IIa/b (with cannons) and the Mk.I PR (with the blisters on the canopy.) The 109 can be built as an E-1, E-3/4, E-7 and E-7 Trop. There's also a later canopy included but that will be used for later BF109s when we make them one day. The idea was to box the sprues with new artwork and decals to cover these variants later, so we'll see. Also, we do have stock of these left which will be going on sale later this week, as of today we are just getting the website updated and finished off, and making sure that orders will go straight to our warehouse for dispatch without a hitch. So they'll be available very soon and we'll be getting a few batches made. Thanks again so much for this wonderful review, like you said we are modellers and our goal here was to make a kit that we would enjoy building ourselves. I hope you have loads of fun building these and we can't wait to see!
Thanks for getting back to me about the different parts - I'll be sure to mention the update in my build (currently under way!). You guys have done a great job!
That's it . I'm hooked . Normally 1/48 is my favourite for detail , but these are gorgeous . Thank you , both to Model N , and to you , Beacon Models . I've got a few Eduard 1/144 scale in my stash , but I have SO got to look out for these . All the best . Pete
The two blade propellers were on the very first Spitfires with constant pitch, and the three bladed ones were the later Rotol variable pitch, I think made in (or by the company?) Bristol.
I'd really like to do one of the Spitfire prototypes one day (I can't believe there are no "mainstream" kits of this!), but for these Beacon Models' kits I'm going to stick with the kit schemes for now :)
How ironic, I had bookmarked the kit starter video, about a year ago, and was planning to see if they made it, and here you have a great video on them. Not only is the scale so different, the amazing detail is incredible. It seems like " we" modelers will have to change our techniques up a bit. Plus the kits are going to make a very unique display opportunity. So glad you helped them along and it appears they are a go . I'll send this post and then pop over to their web page. Cheers, can't wait to see how you build these out.
Agreed ref the decal sheet. I love that they've listed what each marking means! That's great info for military history researchers as well as modellers :)
Lovely video! Currently putting my Spitfire together! 😜 Be Warned: Aggressive Glues like Tamiya Extra Thin, will melt the fuselage into bits....I had this happen whilst gluing in the cockpit dashboard....nothing that can’t be rectified but know the score before committing to the task! 👍🏻👍🏻 Best little 1/144 kits so far....really happy that I got involved with it! ❤
This is impressive! In every way! And to be honest, I expected a different price tag with this level of detail and effort to create a very well rounded kit. Chapeaux! Looking forward to you building and painting all this lovely detail.
Extra parts probably mean more versions to follow hence cannons, etc Mk.1x2 blade prop and 1a 3 blade. Canopy difference on the 109 maybe bullet proof squared off front screen variant etc. Panel lines are deep but after primer, paints etc and lacquer will reduce. Nice review, lovely diorama opportunities here. Generous decals even if extra for the early supporters. Let's hope Beacon Models goes from strength to strength. Interesting scale and 3Dprint is a very modern addition. Paint call out and decal info very clever. Thanks buddy and Beacon!
All the 3 canopies for Bf-109 are for different versions of the type. One of them (with rounded upper ribs) is for early ones (Bf-109A-0 to Bf-109E-3), the other is for late E to late G (Bf-109E-4 to early Bf-109G-5/6) and the last one for the latest versions (Bf-109G-6 late to Bf-109K, so called Erla Haube). The same is for Spitfires: Mk.1 to Mk.5A, Mk.5B - Mk.XIVC/PR Mk.XIX/Mk.21, the latter is for late types with hermitized canopies.
@@BrushQuill I have seen that bundle, and I was tempted...but then I realised I was tempted more by the "bargain" aspect than by the actual subjects :) I'm trying to reduce my kit buying and increase my building this year.

As you mention, communication from them has been great, delays happen but being informed shows care. Having got a few 1/16 kits recently this bundle will have a very high WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor). Having seen this video (thanks for doing it) I am now really looking forward to this arriving.

Happy wife , happy life , eh ? 🤭Pete
Jambo MN 😀Why not build an airfield scene with all the figures, vehicles and the hut, and have the planes chasing each other at ground level? I bet that would be neat. Btw, I am really curious for how you are going to make the scrambling bell workable 😆
The kits and canopies for both include different versions,so the G6 for the 109 and the Mk1 flat canopy, with the two bladed prop, also included is a flat backing plate and spinner hub with NO props,so you can install a clear plastic prop disc to represent a spinning prop.
Nice kits, slightly disappointed though at the lack of driver, airframe in the aircraft kits, surely the main reason for a dogfight double. All th extra detail is amazing though.
The instructions only seem to mention one choice of wing and prop, but there are different versions on the sprue. Do you need to research these options yourself or are they for later releases?
That's right Matt, these sprues will hopefully be used with a few different boxings in future with new artwork and decals covering all those variants. But for now you can build them however you want, and research the aircraft you're most interested in.
