Sorry to see what happened. Accidents are unavoidable when you are trying to push the car and yourself to the limit, which is why racing is expensive. Thankfully, the safety of modern race cars is good.
Coming from a drifters perspective, that is the first thing I recognized. Pushing hard into a corner clutch kicking at the top of rpm grabbing another gear while staying in the throttle is a great way to make the car exceed its traction limitations and go into a slide. I've never driven a car of this caliber, so I don't know how aggressive the DCT shift is and what tcs/stability control would do to counteract it. Considering the tire failed at the same time it truly was worst case scenario. It's inspiring seeing the mentality to push yourself to get back on track and into the next chassis after writing one off. Thank you for sharing Louis, Glad you're well.
Man that constant push to do more, do better, go faster, etc is such a powerful force. Even this weekend my wife and I tried a ceramics class (spinning wheel) and our teacher kept saying "if you've got a decent bowl, just stop there since its your first time.". My wife (just as competitive as me) nor I could stop at what was an "ok" bowl... we wanted it taller, thinner, wider. Sure enough - pushed the clay just a bit too far and it collapsed. Little bit of a safer example than racing haha but more of less the same situation. Glad to see you're ok. Get back out there 🤘
Everyone I see that drives ferrari is so motivational and humble. I almost want to drive ferrari to be like these drivers, more than just success but character
You’re an inspiration, I myself am an entrepreneur and I know exactly what you meant by reaching your goals and then pushing for more. I’ve learned that this year I should have celebrated by achievements. It’s hard to explain to other people because you seem crazy and frankly speaking have to be to achieve what you envision. Your humbleness and the way you carry yourself is exactly how I want to be and have family like yours to support me along the way. Thank you for sharing I enjoy all your videos and passion.
Glad you're okay.Hopefully these crashes dont mess with the confidence youve built all along. The sim can help build the confidence back. Keep pushing, keep finding your limits✅
wow... Congrats for the achievement!!! Best time!!!! what amazing race track... look at this!!! Thank you for sharing this incredible experience Louis. Man... it's so scared to see from suddenly see the car loosing traction and grip... gosh... I'm glad that you are safe. Push the car hard... that's the meaning of racing... was a tire failure...wow...
Perf. Eng. tip: If you are driving at 9/10ths; only a real non-GPS based datalogger will help you to get to 10/10ths safely & consistently. A MoTeC L120 is only $1410 +shipping!
A very honest appraisal of the situation you found yourself in and brings home the message of the need in life to always consider your family. Glad you came out of the crash unharmed physically and hope you can rebuild the car for some more driving adventures. Really enjoying your channel.
Honest assessment, not experienced in business but that drive is necessary in the military. It’s an unhealthy obsession at a certain point and at some point you need to reevaluate the effects on you and everyone. Glad you are walking and unscathed . Life is precious and risking it to the extreme brings an excitement and adrenaline. At a certain point a light will go on and it won’t make sense any longer and peace will be sweet.
I had a 458 challenge car. Front tires always seemed to fade before the rears. Were the fronts just wearing out, so you were understeering where you wouldnt with fresh tires, and then with more input in the wheel all the sudden you get a hi pressure spot where the fronts dig in better and the rear snaps? Just trying to figure out what happened. Almost seemed like lift off oversteer, but if you didnt lift, maybe it was just hi pressure front low pressure rear and snap. Glad you are ok. So scary to have an accident like that. Good luck moving forward.
Sorry to see that happened man! Glad you walked away with no injuries able to tell the story! Cars are always replaceable, keep up the amazing content, always a good watch 💯
I feel like in racing, driving perfectly at 9/10 wins races. If you're always pushing 100% you will make a mistake eventually (because we are human) and be extended beyond your limits. I'm glad you're ok, and hope you keep racing. Get to the point where your 9/10 is better than everyone else's 11/10. Thanks for sharing!
Perf. Eng. tip: VBox is accurate enough to tape over all delta time digits except the 1/100th sec (x:x1sec) digit. The driver just needs to know if the time is going up or down while driving.
It for sure wasn’t your fault man, unfortunately mechanical failures are part of the sport. I really respect you for sharing your story and want to thank you for sharing every. I hope you aren’t to rattled and hope your family is feeling better. Make this experience a good one and keep pushing!
This was the single most difficult thing for me to learn while racing. That being: I need to drive to my own ability. As soon as I go beyond that, things go wrong very fast. Bitter pill to swallow, knowing that there is a lot more in the car than there is in me, but it is what it is.
It was a heart felt video! I go on track with a 21 gt500 track pack. I feel your pain but I know deep down you can't lie to yourself. You will be much better and smarter with this accident on your belt. Luv your track car to no end! I'm about to rollcage my car. I'm heating 285 on the back straight into a 160 corner. The feeling you get on track is like no other...that's why we're addicted. We need it to stay fresh! On the other hand we have families and kids to also still hold in our mind while on the track and that means we are very slightly limited at certain seconds. What a feeling all around but the worst part is the feeling that we lost control and traction is gone that out faces are priceless in that moment of panic but a controlled panic with a thousand thoughts fluding our minds. It's seams like forever. Luv you all! Be safe and cary more speed! 21:14
Man you are super motivational and just awesome. I’m glad I found this channel. Plus we all got to learn a million dollar lesson without spending a dime . No kidding glad you’re doing good and I know it was hard to watch the other guys you know you were faster than get that win. Just think every single man on that podium had a great life changing moment due to you not being there. So in a way you helped all of them as well, believe me they were watching your numbers and know how they got it. Thank you for being real, you’ll get that $50 trophy so go ahead and build the display shelves brother.
Did you figure out what caused the tire failure? One thing to look out for is using too much curb on cold tires could damage the sidewall since the tire is not as flexible when cold and can develop cracks. Anyway hope you figure out the cause
thank you for this video. your words beginning at 14 minutes echoed almost exactly a conversation i had with my girlfriend last night. i’m in the process of building a vintage trans am race car. hope to connect with you on or off the track sometime!
Something let loose. it was instant. i had a sway link snap and same thing happened. You already came out of the turn and were basically straight and seeing that rear, you can tell it collapsed.
Racing is a real Sport. There are variables that will be inevitably out of your control. Accidents happen all the time in racing. So do all the prep/safety you can, and work to be as disciplined as you can.
To start your video editor does a very good job creating an engaging and professional level of production, for a second I thought I was watching a IMSA race at the beginning. Second glad that you are ok, even with all of the modern advancements with safety and technology racing is still a wild and dangerous sport that takes incredible understanding. Cars are like bulls, the best riders can go the distance but even they get thrown off every once and awhile. I found your words powerful and moving as I have been an entrepreneur since I was 7 and battle with the self competition with everything I do, your reflection helped remind myself that the borderline insane drive is not singular and that others have it as well. Understanding yourself is the biggest challenge, I don't have nearly as much life experience as you do but I've found that everyday and every challenge brings new enlightenments that we have to reflect on. Give yourself time to reflect and create a game plan and you'll achieve your 10/10ths goal.
Actually i have to admit you are a nice guy! And I respect you a lot for sharing the second wrecked car in a short time :-). I recommend you read the book "Quit" written by Annie Duke. Its not always that intelligent to push to your goal at all costs. Sometimes you have to quit to be successful. In your case quit chasing for faster, faster, faster. Its just one practice session! You could have been 2nd or 3rd and the NEXT time 1st. Great champions in every sport or in business know when to step back a bit to be successful on the long term. Read the book! Nonetheless, great content! Btw... I am not sure whether it was the tire... :-)... I think you just lost the rear is much more probable... its a mid-engine car... it spins very fast and doesnt warn you at all
Brother i understand how your family feels but if u ever wanna stop and still have a car run for you i would be more than happy to help and be a co driver i would love to show you one of these days my driving skills
Not a good sighting, people will say words to comfort you but in situations like this, I rather wish it was a garage princess than see it burn on track on no race competition, thankful you got out safely, i just wish you both were safe together
Damn daddy in that 1 minute mark in the white thight shirt........ what a gorgeous man! Other than that sorry for you accident, hope you are doing well! Cars are replacable, lifes aren't.
Amateur drivers should not be chasing time. Enjoy the car, the track and all the social fun Ferrari offers. You are not racing! Imagine if you hur a passanger. Check yourself from the neck up. This was hard ro watch

Left rear tire failure. Happened to us all the time during Porsche Sprint.

Perf. Eng. tip: Set VBox Delta-V lights to 0-1.2mph range. Tell the driver to work on consistency before speed.

Good to hear your take on things. Glad you're ok.
Thank you for sharing this. Excellent lessons
rough weekend, sometimes shit happens and you just have to take it on the chin. glad you're ok!
Sorry to see this and glad you weren’t hurt.
Glad you’re ok man 🙏🏻
Great video out of a spooky situation Louis. Appreciate you sharing your vulnerabilities and strengths
You are so welcome
Great video and commentary
Great vid, and introspective.... Motorsport has risks always and the old adage ' To finish First, You first have to finish!'. Thank you
That almost looks like a sudden mechanical failure. Not sure why the rear gave way like that. Did you ever find the issue?
The snap happened right after you change gear. Glad you are OK.
Impressed with your self awareness for being so competitive, glad no one was hurt. Great channel, new subscriber!
Beautiful Nautilus
Thank you so much!!
Thank you and sharp eye! 😊
Racing is hard!
Thank you for sharing your experience.
My pleasure!

Time for a FXX😅
If you dont explore the limits, you are not a racer. Good you did not get hurt
Out of interest how many hours or laps have you done with that car in total?
This is Levels ahead of where I and most viewers are at.
Well said
Great lessons in this video!

Truly appreciate and value your response.
Glad you're ok brother. But damn whats the workout routine?
I remember seeing the other guy with a similar car crashing head on into turn 1 at COTA in April
Crashing is a part of racing.. it just happens. My question is, what failed on the car to keep pushing the car like that.
Actually i have to admit you are a nice guy! And I respect you a lot for sharing the second wrecked car in a short time :-). I recommend you read the book "Quit" written by Annie Duke. Do you think shifting at that moment was another reason why the car stepped out the way it did too??
Coming from a drifters perspective, that is the first thing I recognized.
Please make a video about your murcielago roadster. 😅
If your gonna run a car hard, the track, is the only place to do it. Never the streets.
Brother i understand how your family feels but if u ever wanna stop and still have a car run for you i would be more than happy to help and be a co driver i would love to show you one of these days my driving skills

Glad you’re ok. Even wealthy folks have a limit on how many Ferraris they can afford to wreck - here’s hoping you don’t hit the trifecta
You should be wearing a HANS
I always do.
Nice patek 🎉
Thanks 😁
much respect, hop eyou learn to dial it back to 10
Scary stuff (x2). Glad you’re ok 👍
Thanks 👍
It looks like the LSD wasn't tight enough.
Damn daddy in that 1 minute mark in the white thight shirt........ what a gorgeous man! Other than that sorry for you accident, hope you are doing well! Cars are replacable, lifes aren't.
One more thing, you not the car was at ten tenths. Work on your craft one step at a time, safety first. Smooth is fast!
Interesting observation given the tire blew out.
Funny he can’t afford clothes that fit anymore 😢😢
Amateur drivers should not be chasing time. Enjoy the car, the track and all the social fun Ferrari offers. You are not racing! Imagine if you hur a passanger. Check yourself from the neck up. This was hard ro watch
Interesting. I’ll have to let all the others on the grid know we aren’t racing. 😂
