Man, Void Linux is such a good distro.
I clicked because VOID GANG 🙏🙏🙏
Real asl
Me to man, Love Void❤
Firefox 135.0
I'm am so happy that the integrated local translation finally supports Chinese, Japanese and Korean. One reason less to use Google Translate.
On that whole Apex Legends thing. I think what they're trying to say is that a small subset of the playerbase was doing majority of the cheating, which is actually correct.
Now the devil in the details is that most of these cheaters using "Linux" were actually using windows but just tricking the game to think they were using Linux to bypass certain anti cheat elements!
The graph they offered in December showed that it went down 33% and they claimed it was Linux but at the same time they launched a new season which means the cheat makers have to update the code for the new season stuff and they also added new anti cheat measures that season too. Then just a week later the cheating starts going back up in their own graph. I bet that people did use Linux to cheat at least a little but their claim of it being a lot is unlikely. Plus losing 70% of their players is probably something that affects the amount of cheating
Linus Torvolds: Something
Linux Community: Is this drama?!
One person called actions sabotage and then the Linus comment was made, I think it’s fair to say there’s drama here
I've been saying either "see aych root" or "change root" depending on which set of engineers I talk to, since the 90s. This is the first time I hear it pronounced as a word 😂. Also kinda reminds me of some time back I heard on another video someone saying "tray cert" for "tracert", a Windows command for TRACE ROUTE...
However I have heard co-workers pronouncing CHOWN as a word before at work... so that one's not new 😁
I've heard it said as "chuh-root" but I think that sounds terrible so I don't use it.
In the screenshot with Linus answering Hector Martin is not even the full text that Martin wrote. The full quote goes about what other methods Martin tried to get the code forward before ending with the final suggestion of the nuclear option of "shaming on social media", that Linus responded to.
The full coverage I do will have a ton more depth
Will love to see your reporting of the kernel drama. Unsure why people are so resistant to rust in the kernel when other kernel are moving in that direction and doing it well (android is a great example).
The guy wanted to shame people on social media. Hes the average rust user.
When you're c/c++ coder and love it for the past 40 yrs and +, rust is...rusted and defect at its start.
Once the executable ABI is set and runs, there is NO Secure runtime anymore. All is breakable. so rust
@nempk1817 average user.
For 30 years I pronounced it „change-root”.
I used certbot to access let's encrypt and sometimes a folder in `/run` wouldn't be created and that caused certbot to not run. I'd only find out about this because of the emails. I moved the folder to `/var/lib`, but still this service was invaluable and I'm sad that economies of scale are being tossed.
Its chrystal clear: its change root😉
I have been using Void + BSPWM every day for years. Great distro, super reliable.
I will consider Void when I buy a new laptop. My current one is hanging on by a thread. Will need one very soon.
chroot is "change root".
Rust people getting frustrated with Linux kernel drama, nothing new to see. System76, then the graphics people, and now, the Asahi project is losing good work due to petty behavior by certain developers.
I just hope the Rust drama here actually had some real technical issues behind it because where are we otherwise? Rejecting changes just because they are not C? I mean imagine how difficult it will be for the kernel to find maintainers in the future when it is already difficult to find people with enough experience and drive to do so today.
As if rust is making it better. If anything, it will only increase the bus factor
rejecting the awkwardness of mixing two languages and imposing their religion onto the maintainers.
@@kyrylmelekhin2667 It absolutely is better. It's a step up from C and C++. It solves a lot of really common problems without the baggage of garbage collectors, it promotes understanding the lifetime of your memory and good practices for things like multithreading. Does it solve all problems? No, but that's one of these non-arguments. I especially love it when people start with "I don't know anything about Rust, but..." - then you know it's a well researched opinion.
The cold hard truth is, most devs who get into Rust stop doing C/C++/Java etc. so... I don't know if bus factor really is a concern here.
@@EditEvidence What religion? Christoph's behaviour was unwarranted. For the millionth time, rust people touch the rust code, not C people. This has been given as a guarantee time and time again.
@@kyrylmelekhin2667 A higher bus factor is better, just so you know.
I only use Debian 12 Sid for personal use, no servers or anything. I think I have no use for Sandfly, am I right?
I thought it's c-h-root
+1
Ghostty is a fine terminal emulator. I am using 1.1 (arch) and it's good. I would give Void a try, but they are anti-Hyprland. So, it's been voided on my distro list.
Life's endgame is daily Linux related drama 🎉
if Its CHAUUT CHAROOT ??? I am GROOT
Groot is 100% a Linux user. Most likely Bodhi Linux.
change root
Apex Legends: We have 33% less cheaters since blocking Linux
Daily Active Users: Go from 225K to 150K (-33%)
I guess that checks out...
Easy, chroot is pronounced same as chgrp. For me.
chug-rap
It’s ch-root! Change my mind.
"EA thinks linux is bad" , - well i do not care what EA thinks, their games are bad , and i would never waste my time with any game from EA
firefox still sucks. they still cant be assed to fix their tab scollring bullsbhit,
it's shhh root
I see no real use for AI nonsense.
Rust will breed bugs like a can of trash.
Keep yapping bud.
@oserodal2702 keep simping
The prophet has spoken. No need for argumentation. 🙄
And you think that because?
Look at all the No Evidence and all these feelings.
Rust is a cult that just so happens to have a programming language attached.
hey rusters, go write your own kernel and stop nagging the C maintainers. JHC.
why the hard-sell rusters? if something is 'superior' it sells itself.
That's not the argument. The rustaceans asked for improvements in the APIs, and for better documentation. And Ted Ts'o responded with "YOU WILL NEVER GET US TO LEARN RUST".
Also, just FYI, RedoxOS is a thing. Look it up sometime.
No one was nagging any C maintainer. The C maintainer was the one nagging and talking about non-technical non-sense. The proposal was to add a wrapper to the DMA driver so that rust drivers didn't need to copy code every time a new driver needs to do DMA operations. Go read the mailing list; Hellwig's behaviour is indefensible.
whats so saga about rust? it has no saga, its the new kid on the block. look up the meaning of saga.
and 96% of the world dont give a rats turd about linux. linux desktop is just the worst, fanboys will always find an excuse how good it is. living in denail.
