Old Man Star has a special place in my heart, it was the first system in which I went looking for PvP with a friend when we were new to the game. As you can imagine it ended badly. This lore only adds to that experience. Wonderful video, thank you!

I remember learning about this way back when I first played EVE and thinking it was so good. Even more, this whole thing is an entire self contained grand sci-fi adventure/survival story (like, The Martian before The Martian) but it's just one tiny drop in the enormous bucket that is EVE.

Out of all the years playing eve I never once sat down and read into any lore available, I always logged to experience the ships themselves and the combat. That was a fantastic story and makes me want sit down read through the lore as early as it dates to it's current. Thank you for that experience Benzie.

I'd love to see a thorough breakdown about the Arek'Jalaan in Eram.
Site One in Eram has multiple container boxes containing books about player driven lore centered around shattered systems, Thera, WH's and discovering the sleepers I believe. I know you love J space like me, so strongly suggest you give it a look. There's also a mysteriously unfinished stargate being constructed but...its been under construction for almost 7 years...I doubt itll be online anytime soon. Or maybe its gone now-I havent been in..man-2 years or so?
I never had the gumption/community reach to seek out the project managers (each of the books at Site One lists which in game player/group was responsible for the various projects).
It was a big part of what hooked me into EVE at first; only to realize all those projects were scrapped around 2016 to make way for the Triglavian invasion instead.
Coming from the Souls series with their environmental story telling I especially appreciated the NPC corp/lore of Eifyr & Co...it was founded by a Caldari defector who got into the drug trade-I mean totally legitimate inplant manufacturing business with the support of Seibestor tribe. As a Minmatar who loves the Drake, Tengu, and ...uhm...inplants 😉 I felt connected.
Eifyr & Co dont have stations anywhere else in New Eden except Eram and next door Elgoi.
Bonus points: Yrmori is also next door, which seems inconsequential but any fan of the Clear Skies fan film will recognize the system name.
My EVE career started with Eram as my first home, being 3 jumps from Hek (felt far enough away from Jita gankers) and jumping into Yrmori which seemed to often have a WH for my first trips into the mysterious and daunting J space for the good ores back when mining felt like a good idea.
Its a POI chock full of content and history that I feel many would enjoy learning, but myself included, cant be bothered to dig deep enough to really get all the good bits.

Before I got echoes I used to watch RUclips vids of eve online stories. Like the way the judge robbed the biggest alliance, etc. i always found the player stories so fascinating. How regions of space got taken or how players banded up and reclaimed there territories.
I always wanted to play eve, but it was hard to get into a game that has been going on for so long but at the same time I couldn’t be stuck to a computer due to real life.
Echoes was that middle ground, it did have a promising start, players did compete for territories etc. but then it fell apart quickly. The cracks appeared and turned into craters. It’s promise broken, it’s potential wasted.
EVE Online doesn't require the dedication folks think it does. On Day One I was making 50m ISK an hour in a Tristan. I could log in and feel like I achieved more in 30 mins than I could in several hours of EVE Echoes
This is amazing. I hope you do, or there are more stories like this. I'd watch them.

Hell yeah, more of this please. One of the biggest reasons I fell in love with Eve was the lore. One of my first adventures was traveling back to the original Eve gate!

@Captain Benzie I'm sure some days he probably thought of that. I mean the use of detonating rockets at your own ship for propulsion was probably a hair line mental breakdown.

I reckon a lot of EVE players don't know it either. EVE is fantastic at environmental and immersive storytelling. If you want to sit in the universe and learn nothing, you absolutely can. If you want to learn about the history of the universe, you have to go looking for it.

And heres something ive massively missed from eve online. The Lore of eve online is rarely discussed and the videos that explain it are not rly of the best quality. The epic arcs either dont rly lend much to apprechiate from eve as its just text based stories.

couldn't they use warp drives to get to another system? warp drives would take a few days to get to another system, and every ship has one.
Warp Drives in game require a point to warp to and cannot cover those distances.

@@dontjudgemeh8214 A matter of timing, and like everything else in EVE, sometimes it's just not your day anyway. Can be worth checking the map for recent (last hour) before toddling over, but if you take a cheap clone and ship, no real loss ... and can always tell the pirates "I'm just here to look at the cool gate, please?" Mostly they're chill folks looking to steal your cargo and mods, not pop sightseers.
