As someone who trained horses for 25 years - I will say that working with high strung animals is really dependent on the energetic exchange . So if something was off - the animal could definitely react. If that cat meant to kill him - he'd be dead.

I saw Siegfried and Roy’s show at the Mirage about 1993 -?it was one of the most expensive tickets I ever bought. The big cats were amazing and the show pure glitz and spectacle. They really cared about their animals but, by today’s awareness of animal rights, not what tigers should be doing. @@lyraferal5618 Absolute horseshit. My father was the stage manager for Siegfried and Roy at the Frontier before they moved to the Mirage in the late 80s. The tigers were absolutely cared for and treated exceptionally well. In more than 40 years of performing, nobody ever levied a reliable, substantiated claim of abuse at the pair. I have been to their home here in Las Vegas and seen the tigers before they moved to their permanent home at the Mirage. These animals were not mistreated and Roy in particular was the one who did a fair amount of the training. I saw these animals interact and these are not caged, mistreated animals like you'd find in a run down Mexican circus.

I feel like people forget about the bonds that Animals form with people.. if that tiger was attacking for a kill or because it was over stimulated or offended Roy would be dead.. it would have ripped his throat out.
The fact that tiger literally dragged him alive is a big indicator that it was not an attack. Aninals can sense when something is wrong, dogs can sense when a stroke or heart attack happens in their owners, I've even read and watched reports 9n simple hours cats running to get get help to other people in the house when an elderly person falls down from a stroke, when a baby was caught under a tipped peice of furniture and many other instances... and honestly house cats are not really as perceptive or atleast show that they are as perceptive to human emotions as dogs are..yet many still act when they have bonded with someone.
Big cats are much more intelligent then a house cat, more perceptive, and able to have tighter bonds with humans, we see it all the time at sanctuaries and zoo's. An animal knows when they are loved.
I dont beleive this cat attacked out of primitive instinct.. their primitive attack would have been to kill, not injure.

Siegfried has changed his story drastically over the years, and I'm sure for "legal" reasons. But right after the attack, Siegfried confessed that he was ALWAYS frightened of the animals; that the animals were Roy's domain, not his, and he was particularly frightened of the tigers. He spent most of his time at their home in the Mirage Hotel SEPARATE from where Roy was living WITH the tigers and lions and panthers and cheetahs, etc. I'm sure Siegfried wants to protect the "brand" in some way, but his story is so very different in recent years...

Even though this tiger was raised and kept by humans it was still a wild animal with wild instincts. Tigers and other wild animals that haven’t been domesticated are going to have wild instincts. By Roy’s own words he hadn’t worked with that Tiger much and in my own opinion was freaked out by something Roy did. It is just my opinion but I’m pretty sure the tiger didn’t think that Roy needed help and was escorting him off stage with his teeth. 😆 Regardless, peace my friend.✌🏼

I am personally shocked to see so many mean comments about Siegfried and especially Roy. He has been living and loving those animals for more than 40 years. They made the money for sure but they started from NOTHING and made the impossible possible. This is still the greatest show ever made to date by their own merit and hard work. I think they made a lot of money but this was not the point or their motivation and they never stole it. The public was not even there at the beginning, they created it. They loved what they did and they could last for so long due to their dedication and competencies. I read a lot of judgmental comments from people who do not know anything about animals and who are jealous of others' success. I have a lot of respect for them. Sadly it ended badly but the guy has no bad feeling whatsoever and still loves his animals the same.
True that animals should be in the wild, but those animals were/are rare and would not survive. I think they were well treated and loved. They loved him back as well, it can be seen is so much footage. They do not cheat, they do not lie.

I was very lucky and have family that worked at the hotel I can remember countless hours of running around in the back playing. I can hundred percent guarantee you that none of the Tigers where keep in small cages in the back. Never not once did I or one of my siblings see these animals unless walking with trainers. Those TIGERS lived a blessed life of love and plenty and luxury. No one could love something as much as Roy loved his cats. Siegfried and Roy spent millions on those animals, they worked hard to perform and give the paying public a big bang for their buck. Roy died loving his cats and those animals were happy with the life two little human beings gave them. On that night his cat tried to save his friend from strangers not harm him, animals are very sensitive and his Tiger wanted to get him away from the audience and protect him.

You are an idiot: tigers (like many animals) detect quickly if something is wrong in their environment, and the tiger's natural reaction was to try and get Roy out of potential harm's way (the tiger does not know that Roy had a stroke as such, which he did according to medical examination, but he detected that that something is wrong with him) - this happens to be by dragging (the tiger does not quite realize just how fragile humans are compared to tigers). When the small child dropped into the gorilla enclave at a zoo a few years back, the gorilla recognized the child as a youngling in distress and its reaction was to drag it around from potential harm's way (which looked to some that the gorilla was intentionally harming the child).

Seriously though: in a way, the tiger did give his account:
Mantacore clearly expressed to Roy that he was antagonized. Instead of immediately taking him off stage, Roy kept pushing him, even hitting him on the head.
What happened next was no surprise at all to anyone who truly knows felines.
My fear is that both of those fools haven't learned much from this experience since they seem to seek excuses. Their claim that Mantacore simply responded to Roy having a stroke is rather unlikely, given the whole picture.

Other accounts I’ve heard were that the tiger bit into Siegfried’s arm first and he may have hit the tiger with the microphone and then the tiger took him down and hit him on the neck.

I'm sure they learnt that these animals belong in the wild and not in circuses, homes or gardens. They thought they were in control. Not.

Sounds true, if the guy was having a stroke and the tiger did not see what usually happens it's understandable,

You have no business taking wild animals out of their natural habitat.

Just about 60 million dollars of business. Why not go blame the thousands of people who paid to see their shows too. How many of their tigers did they take from the wild?

    • @conniecrawford5231
      @conniecrawford5231 5 лет назад +2

The tigers were born in captivity, many of them at Siegfried and Roy’s “ ranch” right in Vegas. Where they handled the tigers cubs from day one. No tigers were taken from the wild- only one white tiger was known to exist at one time , and he was bred widely to get the special recessive white gene in tigers!

Well, at least they are not blaming the tiger for the attack.

Glad the guy wasn't killed but I believe big cats and other dangerous animals were put on earth to be admired from a distance not "trained" for entertainment.

I hope the did not euthanize Montecore. He was just acting like a tiger. I'm guessing he got pissed off at Roy and tried to put him in his place.

if they think Montecore didnt do anything wrong, thats ok with me. they did a lot of good for tigers getting them to mate and make babies. we need more animals like that. exotic ones. so these men are ok by me. they love these babies and they have a great life! glad they still are crazy in love!
