I wonder if it is false advertising on the package. It advertises for "Ecco: The Tides Of Time." However, the game you get is the first Ecco The Dolphin game. Did anyone else pick up on that?

People reacting to sonic genesis on gba: why does this sound like this, the Sega smashpack replicates the genesis sounds. Sega smashpack: this sounds like garbage

Just got this game tonight and was shocked that Spinball doesn't have the epic boss theme! Oh well, I have plenty of other options to play those games with...

Dude, the Genesis used the same soundchip that was on the Master System. That was one of its major flaws, actually. It might be true developers sometimes made the best out of it and there have been great games on both these machines, but back in the day, when you were fighting over who had the best system with your school mates, this thing would always come up, because the SNES was so superior in sound. I thank you for this review anyway, as I remember playing Golden Axe on I think PS3 at a friend's and as much as I still love the game, I think that actually was a little better than this version. I don't really care for Ecco or Spinball, so I save that money here, though I'm sure this Golden Axe version is going to be much better than the one we played on Amiga 500 back in the day, because that was, what we had. To get back to the soundtrack once again, it's not so great on any of the versions out there, I think, if you can't get into the sounds and effects. The theme is awesome in my ears and I can whistle that all day, really!

Actually I believe they Genesis and Master System used different sound chips. The Master system uses the Texas Instruments SN76489 chip and the Genesis uses the Yamaha YM2612. The Yamaha YM2612 is a good sound chip you just had to know how to use it. Some games on the Genesis sound like garbage but the games that had sound developers that knew how to use the Yamaha YM2612 sound amazing. Thanks for watching and don't forget to check out my other reviews :-)

It's both actually. They kept the Texas Instruments chip and added the Yamaha one, that I forgot about somehow, I'm sorry. It still is kind of a bottleneck as far as I understand, as to my knowledge both chips can't just process the sound, they have to be fed data constantly, so the more you workaround the sound the lesser capacity do you have for the actual game. As said, despite the fact the system is technically inferior to the SNES, the Genesis offered some great games that have been scored different from the rather symphonic Nintendo sounds. Now, it's good to have something else available but on the other hand I can't get off the thought it just could have been sounding better. I suppose it's also depending on perspective as upgrading from the Master System, the Genesis is a step foreward for sure. Playing Neo Geo mostly these days even the SNES compares not as superior and these are all recent consoles from back then. It's just that the SNK machine also was a little pricey at the time. Then again, I'm just going through a phase of thinking quite a lot of things haven't aged too well. You know, like I'm browsing all the games I played on the original Gameboy and thinking more and more if I'd plug that in, I'll get dissapointed, as I remember all the hours playing and so many titles started blurring in motion and all that. Saves me some money, though, keeping my paws off games I don't own atm. Anyway, enough rambling, I'm looking up some old games recently, so I'm sure to stumble over one of your videos sooner or later, if you got some more of that.

This is basically 13 minutes of hate for the music used in the games

So the dolphin game was literally made to make u get stuck. Spinball suck & golden axe was cool but it was an old school arcade game. Only play it for nostalgia. But it is a cool story

This came across as you just had a lot of hate for these games.

The reason why the sound is not good with off colorpallets, ackward button layouts and cut off parts of the resolution is because,
the gba has it’s limitations, it has a lower resolution,a different colorpallet, and it only has 2 pwm soundchannels so the emulator has to syntheses 10 soundchannels and mix it over the 2 pwm channels as streaming sound,so you can imagine how intense such emulation can be for a system never meant to play those games on.
Also, emulation was in it’s early stage so that’s why co up mode was not supported, eventrough
It’s possible to emulate co up mode via link cable.
So considering the gba limitations, this is absolutely amezing, eventrough it shouldn’t had to be put on gba but still,,,

@johneygd this explains why Sonic 25th Anniversary Edition was a huge fail

Its gameboy dude...the music isnt gonna be great...and it seems like you have a frontlit sp as well...which affects your dark characters in GE. Very little critique or comparison to the originals. I think all three games are worthy ports...especially for 2 bucks. Spinball is a great game but its like youve never really played it much.
