- Part of the home wall club now! Took about 4 full days of work from buying the supplies to setting the holds.
Not pictured:
-Buying and transporting all the wood from the lumber and home improvement stores (and getting the big cuts)
-Numerous runs to the home improvement store for more screws and gadgets
-Screwing and un-screwing and re-screwing (ie: the mistakes)
-Tears and arguing (omitted for easy viewing)
Time to "Train Hard, Climb Harder"!

Incredible amount of work that is put into building this wall!
Indeed! Makes me appreciate it more! If you're ever in the area, come give it a whirl!
Let me know if you're interested in seeing one (or all) of these video ideas:
1) Mini Moonboard Cost Breakdown
2) Step by Step Build Process
3) What you need to know/tips for homewall build
I would be interested in all of these.
@@MatchaLatteTea Thanks for the feedback! I'll aim to make all 3- may take a couple months though, stay tuned!
give us the benchies
@@imxd9698 There will definitely be benchies! My goal is to complete all the mini moon benchies, even if it takes a lifetime. Planning to put a vid up on YT of all the benchies by grade- starting with V3 (when I can clear all of them). In the meantime, thinking of making a dedicated mini moon IG account to post them one by one or livestreaming my mini moon sessions. Any preference/suggestion?
Sick video, planning on building this using your design. Looks like it's solid and doesn't sway at all.
I laughed as soon as the moonlight started playing. Made for a really satisfying video, too!
Thank you! I was hoping someone would appreciate the music selection!
I did as well. Came for the video, stayed for the music
Awwww!! I love your sticky tape numbers and letters!
Hehe thanks! Intended to be temporary but I think I may stick with it (and swap sticky colors when I want a change)
So awesome! I really like the black paint! I'm glad my videos helped! I'm gonna add this video in the description of my videos because seeing a time lapse like this really shows how feasible it is to build a mini!
Thanks! Sounds great! Let’s grow this mini moon community!
That's a really nicely constructed board! You must be pretty pleased with the result.
Thanks! Yes, I love it! Hit some bumps during the build process but it all worked out!
Good work
So sick!
Thanks dude!
Rise of the minis!
Amazing dedication and efforts in building the climbing wall! How long did it take you to build the wall??????
3 full days to build the wall itself. Half day to buy and transport the materials and half day to set the holds. So approximately 4 full days for the project.
Great mini moonboard video! It's amazing how you documented the intricate process of building one. Nice climbing channel by the way! :)
Thanks! You have a nice channel too!
Maybe one day there will be an opportunity to climb together!
@@FearlessTofu yes hopefully!!😃
Very inspiring! What is the name of the climb you sent? 💪🏼
do you feel the left/right side support beam is too close when climbing?
Nice job!
Thank you sir! Thanks for lending us your muscles to move the heavy stuff in the garage!
Nice!
Thanks!
Awesome work! did you have any issues with the wood holds not being screwed in?
I didn’t put any set screws in the wood holds but for the most part they haven’t spun. Periodically, I go through and retighten the bolts.
How does this compare with a regular moonboard? Worth the investment?
If I had the space I would have initially gone with the regular moonboard. But now, I’m really happy I have the mini. The problems are shorter but still challenging at the 40 degree angle. And with gyms reopened here now, I find it worth it to have a board you won’t find in a commercial gym. All the more benchmarks to try! You can check out my mini moon Instagram @fearlessmooncake to see what the problems are like.
What were you guys doing to the t-nuts with the drills after you had pounded them in? I’ve dealt with spinning t-nuts in the past and was wondering if this was a preventative step.
The t-nuts I bought from Moon climbing require 2 small mounting screws to secure each t-nut
Very nice build! I want to build one myself and I am thinking about whether this design or a freestanding is better. Do you find the vertical supporting beams to be annoying while climbing/falling?
If I had the budget, I would have preferred a freestanding steel frame to avoid the vertical supporting beams. With the wall placement in my garage, it wasn’t possible to eliminate the vertical beams and attach the wood frame to roof or back wall, so I had to go with the vertical beams. However, they actually haven’t gotten in the way as much as I was anticipating. I’ve only done V3-V4s on it and haven’t even hit the posts once. It does get annoying when I’m not climbing tho- for instance when my car is parked on the other half of the garage and I can’t open the door fully or when I need to get around the car and have to duck through that triangle of space.
Thanks for your reply. Yes I want to build a freestanding steelframe myself. Although I think it will get very heavy and is a lot more work. So I‘m not sure yet. Good to know that the vertical beams are not really getting in the way while climbing. Either way I am quite motivated to build a Mini Moonboard!
@@jakobwolf1578 have you seen the wideboyz freestanding steel frame? I like their design.
Amazing!
How heavy do you think it is?
Hrm 🤔 maybe around 300 lbs
What is the size of the lumber?
That’s what I’m wondering are the 2”6” or 4”6”s?
What’s the height of the build?
202cm
Is having the mini moonboard worth it?
Yes!
I’m planning to post more mini moon videos in September if you wanna see more about it.
How much did this end up costing you in total? :)
