Difference was definitely in retrieve speed imo.
I've been trying to tell people for years the mid 6 ratio is the most universal ratio to use. They don't listen lol. It's generally only 2 to 3" slower per turn but that keeps the lure in the strike zone just a little longer and also allows the fish to catch the lure. If it's to fast the fish give up the chase and turn back. Same thing with cranks, bladed jigs as it is with spinnerbaits.

Try out the actual mojo sinker or barrel sinker and use Don Iovino peg it and Roboworm light wire hook on that rig. More versatile and zero damage to the line Before you get heart broken 😬. I’ve used it for close to 40 years on #4 I’ve landed 8lbrs on it
The few times I've rigged one up for myself I used a barrel weight with a peg it...definitely a better way! Appreciate you watching brother! 👊

I have 3 7.2:1 and an 8.3:1 reels my spinning reels are 5:1 and 6.2:1 Also enjoyed the explanation of the difference of the types of line comparing mono to flourocarbon Always enjoy your videos

I slow a spinner down w a fuller skirt,and a smaller single blade,i tune the bait for the water temperature ,if its cool i want it to ride higher,as its slow rolled,and the single blade is the small colorado that is below the willow,remove the parts from the wire,and run the single colorado.always use a premium bearing swivels. Got me a PB of 6lbs7 oz last week 💥🎣✌️. On a 1/8 pond magic booyah.go Tackle Junkies!small 8lb braid,on medmod 7ft

I have the 6"10 mh version of that rod. I love it!...it's a very solid rod with plenty of backbone. I throw all kinds of baits on it and works good for all of them. I've been wanting to pair that Serrano reel up to it but been skeptical.....I usually stick with daiwas and shimanos for durability

I agree with you about the equipment. Had a similar experience with cranks. My topwater rod doubles as a cranking rod in the winter. Setup is 7.3:1, 12lb mono, on a 6’8 rod. My winter crank rod is 6.5:1, 12lb Fluoro, on a 6’11”. I figured there couldn’t be that much of a difference but there was. Whatever i through on the Fluoro got bit hard, same bait on the mono, faster reel w wouldn’t be touched at all. It was crazy. … that fish totally counts, can’t tell you how many times I make a cast with a tube or shakey and something will happen where it ends up just sitting. Next thing I know the line is moving. Dead sticking definitely counts

Here is a question for thought thou but wouldn’t the reel in speed be actually closer than you think Mike has a faster reel but bigger line so less pull in per turn to ur thinner line slower reel but more line coming in
Maybe on a really long cast that could come in to play.
