    1) You ain't kidding!!! I am in the South and we got some nice temps the past few days (except Saturday LOL) and I was out on the lake for a bit today and EVERY boat was up shallow.. It was one boat after another on the same exact spots... Per my electronics we are still at about 49 degree water temps..
    I did mark some 52 degree water, but that was WAY back in a creek arm, in about 2 feet of water.. I was checking a favorite snag/tree back in there for lures :)

    Great advice Steve. I went out last Saturday and only caught three. I think I was fishing too shallow and should have covered that 15-20 foot range. I had blue bird sky and 50 degree water. I think maybe the full moon might have been a factor also. I truly believe most bass feed at night, no matter the season. There is always next weekend. Thanks Steve!!

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  7 месяцев назад

      That depth range is something that I am always trying to get right each time out. Some days I nail it and other days it is a swing and a miss. So exciting that warmer days are approaching. Although, it is also the time of year for super high winds. Lol.

    Those are some excellent points! I know I get excited every year for the pre-spawn and can get a little ahead of myself. But I need to be mindful of what those bass are really doing based on the conditions and time of year.

      It is soooo hard not to go super shallow. I struggle with it all the time.

    I'm not a fan of fishing bass during their spawn. But I can see the appeal for those that struggle to target them any other way. To each your own. Bass are fun to catch but leave them be when they're trying to shack up.

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  7 месяцев назад

      I do my best to leave them alone up there on my home lakes for sure. It is just a small body of water. Spend lots of time filming them underwater instead.

    I call it the spot on the spot. If your cast is off by a little they won't bite it also it's a great thing to just be stealthy as possible once you figure it out. Boat control is everything

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  7 месяцев назад +1

      I was just out now and wow, were the fish super spooky. It was important for me to try and be as stealthy as possible for sure. That spot within in the spot is so true. Miss it by just a little and nothing.

    Great video I got to fish Saturday got on lake about 1030 about my 5th cast with a jig i caught 6lb drifted away while looking for my scale about 10 minutes went back made same cast got bit and it was another good one got it close to boat it made a run under boat got in trolling motor and got off but i seen it up close as i got it to top it was a big or bigger than the one I just caught made the same cast again and caught a 3.5 lb all out of the very same spot. I caught about 10 fish that day was a fun day and I thought about how you say they hang together a lot and to work a spot over good when you catch one

    Is it too early for a frog?

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  6 месяцев назад

      Great question. A frog can be used much more often and earlier than we often think. If you have lots of life shallow in your waters, a frog can definitely be a successful lure right now.

    need tips for very cold water spring fishing (45 degrees). I was fishing a large lake with depths of 30 feet or more. tried shallow, tried middle water column and deep. no luck. 3 other guys on the lake also got nothing. please help

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  6 месяцев назад +1

      Did you happen to see any other signs of life anywhere? When it is really tough out like that, I try to find some other life wherever I can. That will help with locating the right part of the water column. As the day goes on, if the sun is out, they will move shallower and get on hard structure, but if you have some history on the lake I would start on some of the places you have had the best success over the years. Focus on the bottom edge of whatever that structure/cover is. If they are still deeper, you will probably have to really let the lures soak and barely move. In those scenarios I like to use a really small soft jerkbait, 2 1/2 to 3" and either fish it on a Damiki type head or a drop shot. On those bright sunny days, do a quick check of some really shallow water too where the sun is hitting hard. I've caught bass in really shallow water with those temps and was actually fishing below them most of the day until I figured it out. But that is a bright, sunny, afternoon type of a bite in cold water. I hope this helps some.

    What is making bass stop on any one area
    Like the tire or a rock? What’s special about it
    I saw no bait swimming around holding to these

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  7 месяцев назад

      That is a terrific question. It has to be hard-wired into them somehow. I remember seeing an experiment years ago where a bunch of baby bass were put in a small plastic pool. They used a black marker to color a circle on the bottom and those baby bass gathered right around it. I should try to do some experiments to investigate this more.
