Charging is the only way to get into base contact for combat. Random movement states it can only count as charging if it made contact in the compulsory moves phase. Conveyance spells are cast in the remaining moves phase. Can't charge with a conveyance spell.
RAW, you could even argue that while they count as charging if they make contact, they can't go within 1" to make contact because they don't declare a charge. So being able to charge *at all* requires some rules-as-intended. But I think you're right about how it currently works.
The 1" rule only applies to units not engaged in combat, but they may enter 1" provided they don't finish their move there. Since a charge move ends with the units engaged in combat the 1" rule no longer applies. Man I wish I didn't have to flip back and forth through 30 pages of other rules to find this.
FYI: Milliput precedes green stuff for decades in the USA. For ages it was only decent gap filler for metal models. Also there are different grades of grain size for milliput these days. I actually prefer green stuff over milliput but it is definitely good for certain use cases
FWIW you can mix greenstuff with milliput 50/50 and get the beneficial properties of both products, more durable and sculptable like greenstuff and sandable like milliput etc
Lachie there are a Sabre tusks and trappers for cheap units that do some good things in the ogre list. Also running no Ogre shamans. The army is fast if you scout.
Large Target can definitely see above other Large Targets. Nothing that says they block LOS to other Large Targets in the rulebook, so you use the rule page 172 by default. Dead right on Fanatic movement : no reference of the scatter dice and scatter rules is made, just a random direction. So you always move.
If you are building a list without much magic, you should then bring at least counter measures against magic heavy lists. Be it fast heavy hitters, some magic defensive objects, many chafs units to throw at the enemy wizard's unit, or just enough fire power to force them come to you
With regards to the large targets, this was in an FAQ, they cannot draw LOS through one another.

@@flakeyjunk2410 True - on both. Imagine if they'd used some of their lead time to edit the layout and add a comprehensive index...
@@flakeyjunk2410 raw can fanatics even contact enemy units at all? The one inch rule says they must stay 1" away haha

The milliput did not do what I'd hoped (first time using it, so probably user error), so I may give this a go next time - thanks!
No way! I had no idea. Cheers for the tip
