Hello there! Thanks as always for your support. Sorry that we have not been releasing regularly lately but we are still getting settled in Ireland after moving from Japan. It will take a while but we are really excited about getting back to releasing more playthroughs when we are able to. We do still have some videos to edit though so please look out for those! Cheers!!
Maracaibo is currently my favourite game, so I was delighted to see you play it. I recommend using the story cards as they add a little more depth to the game play, without changing too much. I also definitely recommend the Uprising expansion as it’s similar to the Norwegians expansion for A Feast For Odin in that it doesn’t add too much more complexity but makes the game a lot more varied. Great job as ever 😀👍🏼
Thanks a lot for that advice. It sounds like a lot of fun using the story cards. When we get a bit more time to sit down and play Maracaibo, we'll definitely give that a shot. Maracaibo really is a great game! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Thank you Francesco. We are still getting settled down in Ireland so it will be some time before we have our place to set up a studio, but looking forward to getting back to shooting and back to a more regular release schedule. Maracaibo is a very interesting game indeed. We had a lot of fun with it!
Hello & welcome back guys! I play this game via the app so your playthrough will help me decide whether to add it to the collection in cardboard format :)
Hi Andrew, and thank you. We are still in the middle of getting settled back to Ireland so it will be a bit of time before we get back to regular releases but we're really looking forward to when we can do that. Haven't played Maracaibo digitally, but it is definitely a lot of fun in cardboard format! Haha! What game in the collection is seeing the most table time lately?
@@AllAboardBoardgames I'm sure you guys will be back to it in no time, I'll look forward to it :) Trajan is on the table this week, it's a game designed by Stephan Feld. Mechanically it's very sound but admittedly a little devoid of theme. But we find theme is typically what you make of it in a Euro so as long as the mechanics are interesting it's one that will get played in our household.
@@andrewwalsh531 I have never heard of Trajan, but it has a high complexity rating on BGG! Will have to check it out! I think the only one of Stefan Feld's games that we have played is Castles of Burgundy. Actually that is also one of the games that we shot before leaving Japan so we will have a playthrough of that one coming up on the channel. Cheers!
Hi Geoff! Thanks for your lovely comment. Sorry that we have not been able to release a lot of videos lately. We are currently in the middle of a big move from Japan to Ireland, so until we get settled down it will take a bit of time to get back to a normal schedule of releases. We're looking forward to being able to get back to filming as soon as we can but until then we thank you for your patience! Cheers!
Gret video with excellent explanation. 42:45 Pat uses the assistant in location 9 to explore 3 spaces. However, he could have moved 4 due to his Pioneer, which could have get him 5 VP (4 from crossing the blue border and 1 from the ending space). But 3 extra doubloons is also great. 44:35 Glai performs a combat action as the benefit of a quest tile. The combat tile gives only 2 strength for England, she adds 2 from her ship board to place an English cube and gain 2 doubloons and she ends her turn. However, she has still 6 strength on her ship board. So she could have spend 5 more strength to gain 2 more influence in England. Or she could have spend 4 strength instead of 2 to displace the French cube from Cartagena (actually done at 54:00) and gain 4 doubloons, which she wanted. And then spend another 2 strength to gain an extra influence in England. At the beginning of the game you have 2 combat actions available, which both can be used once during one single combat. You can perform as many DIFFERENT combat actions within one combat, as long as you have enough strength to spend on them. 55:03 Did Pat forgot his Pioneer (again)? 58:19 Adding quests at the end of round 2. In a 2-player game there should only be placed a quest in location 7 and NOT in 8. The quest for location 8 is only placed in a 3- or 4-player game. 1:43:40 End game scoring: Spain and France both have 2 cubes out on the board, so they BOTH have second place and both get the +1VP bonus for being second. See rulebook, page 11: "In the case of a tie, all tied nations receive the higher value." And/or read this thread on BGG: boardgamegeek.com/thread/2708540/final-scoring-majority-bonus
Hi there! Thanks a lot for commenting and also for your strategy insights. I (Pat) did indeed forget to use my Pioneer on a few occasions, and Glai certainly could have used her extra strength for extra benefits on her turn. You are correct about the Quest only being added to location 7, as well as the end game scoring error. Thank you for letting us know about those, and for the timecodes. I have made notes in the Klingon subtitles. Thanks for watching!
At 1:37:50 when receiving the ‘House’ synergy token, Pat should have moved up the coin income track by 6 places due to his Pioneer and 2 Quest Hunter cards. It would have increased his final score by 3 points. It wouldn’t have been enough though 😄
Dears i guess you did the final scoring wrong; the nation with the most influence on the board gets +2 on its victory point NOT on its banner; for instance, Glai should have gotten 42 points not 40 for the white nation (6 banners x 7 points) not (8 banners x 5 Points)
Hello! Glad to see a new vid is up!
Thanks for that! Hope you enjoyed it!
Wonderful video, once again!
Thank you Sid! Really happy that you liked it!
Super playthrough. I'm getting more into you guys playing compared to others especially as your editing where you zoom in on the cards is so good.
Thank you Darrell! Really glad that you like our playthroughs!
guys we miss you soooooo much, i wish you can do a playthrough for the expansion Maracaibo the Uprising; we miss you sooooo much
