amazing horses! but can please someone explain to me, why every owner of an Akhal-teke yanks on the horse's mouth all the time?? They seem to have a really sensitive mouth as it is, why make them more uncomfortable?
I've never interacted with this breed, but from what I've read, they are really easy to train, so why not just invest some time in proper training?

From what I've read, they are very strong-minded and temperamental, and even if u look at the video, they all try to walk over the handler when he stands in front of them. So they 'yank' to say ''stay back''. And fight the handler when being led. Yeah, you can obviously work them and train them but those are either not their owners\trainers so the horses act up with new people, or they're 2yo and haven't started proper training yet🤷‍♀️And u know, colts gotta be colts🤷‍♀️

They are high sensitive and let everybody know, when one is unconcentrated 😉
If you can't satisfy them, they will let you know.
Intelligent, good hearted people are needed to cope with an Achal Tekke.

@Clvmind Don't you think people who sell Akhal-tekes know how this breed is called? You're right but I think they actually wanted to say that the championship takes (took) place in Russia. I love Akhal-tekes and I hope that one day I earn enough money to buy and race one. ^^ Bye guys *_*

Russian????!!!! It is Turkmen horse! Russia does not have such a horse! If they have any it should be tough horse for such a cold an harsh weather, not like this horse.

Arsalan Ab Akhal-Teke breeding started in Russia since 1960. Most of them located in South of Russia, which is nearly same weather like Turkmenistan. In Russia there is around 1500 Akhal-Teke horses. Now it is international breed. These horses live now in USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, South Africa, Bahrain, Emirates, China and almost all countries of Europe.
And there is several Championships during year - World, Russian, Kazakhs, Uzbeks, European, Turkmens, American, French, Czechs and etc. From 6000 Akhal-Teke in breed, 2000 is around world and all rest are in Russia and Turkmenistan. All this information possible to get in book Akhal-Teke, Golden horse by Klimuk and Baboev.

Rebenok77777 never ever rusia breed, don't lie and don't stolen ower horses. This breed is a turkmen horses and maybe 5000 years old, you talking about 1960 the rusian only stardet a studbook then, that makes them not russian breed. Think before you talk. The real horse people was the nomadic people of central asia not the russian.

Is it true that since their back is longer than regular horses they tend to develop back problems(including minor sores and aches)

As someone already pointed out, they will be fine if they're excised properly with back strengthening exercises.
Starting them too young with insufficient training (two year olds) however is a recipe for disaster. They've been bred for close to 5000 years. If they were truly unviable, don't you think these people, whose whole lives depended on their horses, would keep them?

If it were a Russian horse, would its name be Ahal Teke? It is obvious from its name that Ahal Teke is a Turkmen horse. No matter what anyone says, they cannot change history. Shame on the Russian nation.
