Album out November 3rd. BUY IT!
layed out puking in the back of a fancy bar
you and your friends in the front booth
laughing at my sweet naivete and its awkward gravity
three years saw the decimation of the world in you
messiah complex led a fickle flu? to see its antidote
an end in you, but now im gonna leave you.
eloise, eloise, you never meant that much to me
baby please let go my eloise, let it bleed,
let it freeze and fall apart in front of me, my eloise,
you took the world from me.
so beautiful, the ugliness within you
last of three, baby of the family, spoiled to bits
and rotten to the shining core of you,
and mad with power, i've seen corrupt the leaders
of this nation, stricken with the sickly imatation
of a love the lord would never stitch, you've got my cake
it's time to dine on the rich?
eloise, eloise, you never meant that much to me
baby please let go my eloise, let it bleed,
let it freeze and fall apart in front of me, my eloise
band-aid, just a bloody band-aid,
that's all i ever really was to you eloise
a soldier with a syndrome, in dreams of childrens screams
you molded, you shaped, like a god who loathed to create
band-aids, two infected band-aids,
that's all we really were to eachother eloise
a couple of stupid kids, throwing a ball back and forth,
to see who drops it first!
eloise, eloise, you never meant that much to me
baby please let go my eloise, let it bleed,
let it freeze and fall apart in front of me, my eloise
you took the world from me
you took the world from me
you took the world from me
you took the world from me
you took the world from me
He literally has the most attractive voice in the world. the harmonizing is heart melting.
discovered this band and its amazing and like no other
Thats my point, nothing needs to replace labels, in today's society self-promotion for bands is the way forward. We the fans won't have to pay ridiculous prices for CDs and a band can still have a large and much more loyal fanbase.
i love that i can hear every breath he takes.....
A label's main purpose is to promote and distribute. Back in the 70's, 80's and 90's, a label was a major factor in the band of a band, but due to an invention called the internet, a band can self-promote through sites like myspace, youtube, facebook, last fm etc. and and they can distribute music through iTunes and online retailers as downloads, which is a much cheaper way of distribution. We're in the digitial age, label's really aren't needed anymore.
"a couple of stupid kids, throwing a ball back and forth,
to see who drops it first!" is by far the best metaphor i've heard so far from this album. but other than that and the chorus being nice i don't really know if i like this song that much. I feel this way about every new song i've heard. it all feels unpolished. especially the "did it hurt when you fell from heaven" line. it killed every bit of affection i had for "crush'd." Just my feelings on the subject.
This is the second time I listen to this song, and I really like it. When you enjoy a song at the first/second listen you know it's good. Hope the album recorded version is as great as this!
I definitely agree with you.
Just because his emotion isn't displayed through constant angriness and cussing anymore doesn't mean it isn't there.
at first i felt the same way about that line in "crush'd", but i have to admit it's grown on me after hearing the album version on their myspace. its a bit like how i felt about the new version of "cemetery", i wasn't entirely sure i liked it at first...after listening to it a couple times, i thoroughly enjoy it, though i think i may appreciate his original take on it more, which is still bouncing around youtube.
the thing is, it's a different emotion from his previous albums, and it's understandable. he's gone from being angry and in a sense, somewhat depressing (due to personal issues), to a happier tone (thanks to more recent, joyful events). personally, i think it's only proper that he expresses that new emotion in his new album, and i can honestly say i appreciate it. It's different from previous albums yes, and for some it may take getting used to the more upbeat tone
Eloise... oh Eloise. Eloise broke my heart and this is my song to you!
Agree, Max's acoustics are always emotional. I pretty much love every version of every song though :P
ok i listened to this song like 20 times and i love it.
I dont understand why a lot of people dont like Property. I think its great, Along with everything I heard from this album so far.
I saw Say Anything for the first time when i was 13 years old..
It was one of the most amazing times of my life. Lol.
We were all crowd surfing and i met the bass player from wetherbox (:
I was going through a huge say anything phase back then lol.
They were all i had on my MP3 (:
Their music has changed a lot though.. :/
They still have that really amazing unique use of words lol.
They just don't sound the same too me. Lol.
But i still love them (:
I have nothing but empathy for u AlSPAL im in that situation too and yea it does suck. Max is a genius poet and freaking awesome at driving home the points he makes in his songs.
I love the album version, but this one is great too
Say Anything is Awesome!
heyytelephone you got the right idea
Omgomgomg,
Cannot wait for the new album!
these guys r really good with words in all their other songs too but in this messiah complex led a fickle flu who thinks of stuff like that its crazy
I completely, 100% agree about the ball metaphor!
However, I do reallly like this song & I thought that line in Crush'd was supposed to really cheesy, which made it hilarious.
dont get me wrong, say anything is my favorite band. and i cant wait for the new album, i just hope its got songs that are more like IARB rather then some of the songs i heard from in defense.
Undecided about this song.
"spoiled to bits
and rotten to the shining core of you"
I mean c'mon I'm not that bad!
I believe this is the live version, at Rolling Stone, or at least it sounds the same ;p This version is so much better than the original.
I agree bud, it sounds so awsome :D
are you serious? It seems like Max put more emotion into songs like this, Crush'd, and Ahh Men. It's a different emotion from Is A Real Boy and In Defense of the Genre, but the emotion is there.
This is one of my favorite songs by Say Anything!!! Please check out The Victory Lap!!!
ahhh oh how i love this song :) this song makes me want to adopt a little girl and name her eloise its such a pretty name i wish it were mine
Well personally I find that the tone is there, seeing how his music has usually been directly influenced by his personal life (if not always). I find that his new-found love (after all, he married her not too long ago (: ) and how he feels with her compared to how he felt with his ex is all noted in the new album. But that's my personal view...though a friend of mine claims that it's fact, but idk myself.
So who is stupid for not paying for songs from an artist they like and not supporting them.. from my standpoint you don't deserve them...
Simple. It's a matter of opinion. I for one love "Hate Everyone", but that's my personal opinion...if it's number 1 in iTunes, then it means there's plenty of people who share the sentiment.
my name is eloise and I like the song since 7 years :)
You know yet you ask why it's number 1 on iTunes. I simply made the effort to answer your question...and you don't have to take it as an attack as you clearly did with both the comments you sent to me, though 1 was mistaken.
As FLfreelance said, it's not considered their best, it's just the song they also made into a single (considering they even have a music video for it). And again, If the popularity meter on iTunes is up for that song, it's probably because people enjoy and want that song.
buy the cd, you know, like how real fans do it.
i'd say that mara and me is the best from the album
he sings it that why so it rhymes with gravity.
Thanks..
Just because you don't like the band doesn't mean it is a bad band, they wouldn't have people defending them if they weren't good now would they?
thats a catchy chorus :)
Aye, that much is very true
Basically, what I'm trying to say is, you're effectively supporting a band more by paying to go and see them live and buying a t-shirt whilst you're there than actually buying their albums
overall though, im sure most any fan will enjoy the new album...or at least most of it
*Should have, and it says it's an acoustic version in the description.
And if you absolutely have to make a comment, don't make it negative by talking smack about the song or the band. Make your own personal synopsis on it. It's called constructive criticism, learn how to apply it in real life situations.
i dont haha, but is because i love fast tempo songs and without drums it wouldnt be the song i want it to be. and it wouldnt be a difference between waiting till 11/3 and now.
I've been that bandaid before
): I know how he feels.
@TonyOlson15 how did it help you?
were can i find the same accoustic version of this song so that i could download it to my ipod???
but if there was you'd wish for a 7 star rating :)
Meant to put "success of a band" but we all make mistakes, oh well
Self-titled--"Say Anything"
does anybody have the download link for this song or for mara and me?
I'm not saying not buying cds in favour of downloading is right, but artists get VERY little of the money made from record sales, it goes to the record labels. Artists rely on ticket sales and merchandise sales for the majority of their income. Again, not saying illegal downloading is right, but you have to understand that the money you pay for a cd isn't going to your favourite bands, its going to the record labels, and when you put it into perspective, they're pretty useless..
word
hey now, dont hate on coldplay or jay-z just because there's a child at the computer talking smack like it matters....although i do agree, jimmyu1 should take a long drive off a short pier
coming from the keyboard of an internet creeper that sure does mean alot...
oh wait, no it doesn't.
@Aceydwarf what...
what else would it mean?
so. fucking. good.
the 7 dislikes are from eloise and her friends.
@heyytelephone i can't give it 5 stars...due to the new youtube update...
And considering how you couldn't figure out that little piece of common knowledge about iTunes, I don't have a doubt in my mind that if you ended up infecting your computer, you wouldn't know how to fix it if the answer flew through your window and hit you in the gut.
she has no friends
Link please. :)
You should really put acoustic version in the title.
Should of said this was the acoustic version.
good song, sad song.
sigh.
i mean and the guitar is kinda put together like an acoustic song
my name is eloise and this song makes me uncomfortable
5 people missed the like button.
Unoriginal, but true.
i love say anything, dont get me wrong, but i dont like property very much, and this song is PRETTY good, but it just feels like max doesn't have as much emotion in his songs as he used to.
meow
lol and the man here to that's taking his time out to come listen and talk shit about it on the computer, is much better?
Also, your statement "Without the label theres no quality music", that couldn't be further from the truth. Rancid, Fall Out Boy and NoFX are just 3 examples of artists that have managed to create "quality music" from labels created by themselves, as an alternative to major labels. And please don't come back saying that the labels do give artists a lot of money, because music isn't (or shouldn't be) about money, it should be about the love of music. Within 10-15 years, labels will cease to exist.
How was I raged at all? I think I handled that perfectly. I'm not the one cussing out other people, you are... P.S. You have terrible spelling.
That's why the magical button known as delete was created, in response to you only wanting some on your ipod...you can also make playlists and segregate the music if only listening to some is that important to you...and importing music from a CD to iTunes only takes about 5 minutes...seems like the only thing preventing the people in your household from doing it is lazyness...not that I'm trying to offend, but that's what I see.
@steckwrestling I dare you spell genius, or compare correctly.
I like this song but I cant fully like it cause my names Eloise :L makes me want to say sorry ? haha
lol does anyone else get bothered by the way he says naivete ... i mean isn't it suppose to be said like "Ny eve a Tay" that's how i've always heard it actually. because it's actually spelled Naiveté
dunno love this song so much but that is annoying.
it is called to rhyme, get over it gosh.
i prefer the barry ryan song called eloise... considering my name is eloise i cant really like it :/
So I take it you're 5 years old right? That or a narcissistic, anti-social pessimist who doesn't enjoy anything in life. Regardless of what the case may be, if you don't like the song, don't listen to it. And certainly don't spoil others' appreciation for it. As someone previously stated, "Just because you don't like the band doesn't mean it's a bad band."
im eloise and this song is not nice.
erroneous
i do not dig live music
AHH my ears !
What a horrible voice!
the song is good but ahh the voice! no!
