Thankyou so much for taking the time to make this video, I picked up a Mac 140 a couple of days ago for £20, it ran ok eventually, but it was full of ancient oily sawdust, the muffler had rattled itself loose & generally in need of a bit of tlc - this video saved me a load of wasted time figuring out how to strip it, although you made it look way too easy ;)
I was given a mini mac 30 a couple of years ago. I’ve used it a number of times and it’s performed well. Now it’s time for some regular maintenance. This video will be a big help. Thanks!
Thanks for the info on the MCculloch 2.0and eager beaver I spent days trying to figure out how to put the linkage back together after watching your video I had both saws up and running in no time keep up the good work
Thank you for this video you have now help me fix mine much appreciated I will be sending you some of my saw shortly Keep up the great videos you've helped me along the way with all my troubled saws
Fantastic Video.... I have a Mini Mac 140 that I need to rebuild the Carb on.... and I was a bit confused as to how to re-attach the fuel line & Throttle linkage... it makes perfect sense now...
I have had many chainsaws since the original mini-mac came out with the manual oil pump. I have owned macs, homelite, stihl, echo, husqvarna, and Poulan. The easiest to work on was the homelites in the red plastic housing. The hardest was the Macs. I never liked working on them and still don't
if I can pull the drive train out of a Honda or acura to replace the frame rails in a collision doing body work it's really simple and fun but I will admit it took me a few minutes to figure out my mini Mac lol , 45 minutes I can have the motor and tranny sitting on the ground ,, my best advice to any mechanic is think the way the engineer installed it in the factory ,, think like them it's all a modular design ,, always look and visually see what you have to do before you ever pic up a wrench , a 20 minute visual Will save you 20 worthless hrs digging into something trying to figure it out
It's now been stripped, cleaned & mostly reassembled, hopefully box it off tomorrow & see if I can figure out how to set up the carb properly (any tips would be gratefully received)
This is awesome! I. Just did some minor work on My wife's daddy's mac160s, replacing the sprocket and adding a chain brake handle it never had since he gave it to us. It's a sentimental item for her and now it's back up and running strong. If I need to go further, now I know how. Thank you. I subscribed... Obviously this is the place to be.
I have a Mac 110. There is a hose that goes to the carb from the round plastic piece at the bottom that connects to the fuel tank. How did you fit the hose back on the carb while trying to get the motor back in the case. I cleaned the carb on a 110 2 years ago but now have another one and can't remember how I got the hose back on.
Thanks, this video was extremely helpful. I have an old MAC-110 from around 1976 that stopped running about 15 years ago. After taking it apart, cleaning the Carb, and checking I have spark I still can't get the thing to fire. After about 15 Pulls on on the starter I do notice the muffler getting wet so I am surprised I can't get the odd puff out of it. Any ideas for initial settings on the Low and High Needles?
I am wondering do you have spare parts for a mac 110. I found one at a dump. It runs but not idle st screw and chainbrake handle and cover are missing. Oh yeah no bar and chain of course but not worried about those at the moment.
On the mini mac 6 I cant see how to hook the throttle wire on the black lever and also how does the wire oil pushrod set in there cant see how to put it in
Hey i got a eger beiver 2.0 just went threw the carb all is good but the thing will only run for a few secounds with fule down the carb i know how to adjist the hi and low but it wont stay on or coule it be the case seal it feels like it has good compresstion whats your thoughts???
Thanks for that video, I just did a clutch and cleaned up the points on one. Kinda PITA, but the saw now runs, pretty good for a 30 year old!! Its going on a shelf, not in the back of my truck.
very nice saw I had fun working on mine ,, it's really just a matter of how to figure out how the factory assembled it ,, I need a fuel line and fuel filter and a oil pump , I really like this little saw it's perfect for the tool box on your truck ,, I never go anywhere without a chainsaw when I'm in the woods they are a life saver for sure , I love chainsaws !
my eager beaver 2.0 carb needs to be rebuilt-nay ideas of what carb is on it or what i need to buy?? Great video-I'll need to view it a bunch more times so i can take mine apart-thanks so much!!!
When doing a carb repair on one of these Mini Mac's is there a way to test fire it outside the case? I would hate to get it all assembled to find out that the carb is not pulling or needs a metering lever adjustment. With the starter removable like this one, and a piece of fuel line, can one attempt to test without full assembly? Great Video and key tips from a guy that worked on these back in the day! Please keep the tips coming for these small saws.. Greatly appreicated
Found one in the trash. Checked the compression and had 125. So i tor it apart and cleaned it all. Ported it alittle and shes a mean little thing with a 16" bar. Can plank 12" oak with no problem
Great video! I have a Mini Mac 30 that runs good but slowly leaks bar oil, I could live with it but wondering if you might know of a fix. Also, I'm guessing that turning the screw on the oil pump in would mean more oil and out would be less? Thanks for any help or ideas, Rick
I have spark and even put gas directly in cyl. but still won't fire when turning with drill at high rpms too........Engine is bare, body completly off saw, just bloch in vise. Why? Thanks in advance.
Does anyone know why my mini mac 110 is sucking bar oil into the cylinder? It smokes like a freight train while running, and after she sits for a few days the cylinder fills up with oil and causes a liquid lock. Please help!
Great Help ONe question I must have an older saw and next to the idle screws Is like a botton that I think helps prime it. Anyway how do I get that out
I have a Eager Beaver 2.0 (same as Mini Mac 100 series). It had a manual lever oiler only when purchased. I want to add a automatic oiler (P/N 216582) and see the lower crankcase already has place to accept the oiler pump. I understand the lower crankcase needs a small hole drilled for pressure to operate the oiler pump piston. Is that correct and where do you drill the hole and what size? Does anyone know more about adding a auto oiler on the manual only version mini macs?
The mac 110 has an automatic oiler that is powered by the pulse of the crankcase by way of a plunger. When the auto oiler plunger or parts of the automatic oiler malfunction you will get oil in the crankcase. SK
Yeah, I've got one apart right now that has been leaking oil out the muffler for some time, even after I drained the oil tank. Trying to figure out the easiest and cheapest way to fix it..
Hey this was a big help however I disassembled the handle too and now that its put back together the throttle starting lock doesn't seem to work or it never did, Is there an adjustment?
I have the same saw given to me.....I had to take it down to clean out and replace the diaphram in the carb....first time to see and experience such a challenge....but did it.
Probably better off, I tore mine down for a pull start repair, I'd like to talk to the designer of this pig, almost impossible to put back together. All they had to do was make the starter hsng Separate from the rest of the case like most other saws, with 4 screws, but no, you have to do a complete tear down to get to it and I won't even get started on how hard it is to reassemble. I'll give you a good price on mine, coil is good
I'm looking for a starter pulley for the older model it's a mini Mac 6 aswell but doesn't have the three screws to make the job easier. The mod number is 800080h any help?
Hello chainsaw guy, Enjoyed the video very much. I have the same unit and it will not start after sitting for two years.. I believe I need a carb kit. Do you know typically, the make of the carbon these units? Also, is there a fuel filtre anywhere on the mini mac 25? Your comments would be appreciated. Regards Ray

working on a 12" mini mac limb saw and need to replace the fuel tank it leaks. how do i get the oil pump out of the old tank and into my replacement tanl thanx great videos
I have a McCulloch chainsaw that says 2.0 C.I.D. Is that the model number? I took the engine out of its case and I can not figure out how to re attach the throttle linkage rod. Can you make and upload another video of how that linkage is supposed to attach to the throttle trigger? The ignition coil had electrical tape around the high tension lead and its missing the metal piece that attaches to the spark plug. How do I attach the clip to the high tension cable from the ignition coil?
Great video, thank you.I love seeing and watching a craftsman the skill and knowledge you have is surely a craft, hard earned. And you still have all your fingers, what a legend. Thanks again please if you have the time could you please dismantle and thoroughly clean a mac120 i bought one today, starts and cuts superb but he has been neglected and the little fella deserves better, not leaking but very dirty and oily.Is the mac120 two stroke?I think it is by the smell but not sure.No manual. Thanks TCSG
The part about reassembly the saw where you mention to pay attention especially to a notch into the housing is not very clear. Your hand blocks the view. It would be helpful if you could point to it with a pointer. Otherwise, video is very helpful. Thank you!
Hi my names Wes and I have recently picked up a McCULLOCH mini Mac 6 and was wondering since I don't have a muffler on mine would it matter what I put on it to keep back pressure , to keep it running smoothly in idle? Mine didn't come with an exhaust pipe. Please get back to me if like the chain saw to be running again since I'm a huge fan of McCULLOCH.
I think 90% of assembly problems revolve around the throttle linkage myself included. Thanks for figuring that one out for me. Only criticism is the camera seems to be out of focus.
@TheMasterTate auto sharpen is like using an extra set of hands to sharpen the chain but the way its done is there is a button near where the bar mounts to the saw that has a grinder die on the other end of it that rubs up against the chain when the saw is running u press and hold that button down while u squeeze the throttle trigger as this is done the chain will become sharp again i will show u wut i mean when get time to put up a vid about it
found a mini110 in a garbage dump the same day i put the handsaw down and decided to look for a saw to cut firewood. looked like hell must have been sitting for years, jelly in the tank, lines crumbled. grabbed it.. (regret leaving the larger homelite in same condition that was sitting there). none the less took it back to camp squirt of fuel in carb it popped n farted a few times, took it home. stripped it cleaned it replaced lines cleaned clutch up, learned how to cleanup bar and chain from buckin's videos. had to order a new air cleaner and cover. but it fires up first/second pull. cut a lil wood last summer but chain is wore out been filed down so much the teeth are bending. this summer ill pop a 16" bar and chain on and run it for as long as i can.
How do i make sure ive installed a fuel filter correctly i packed it in real tight and it didnt leak gas when not connected to saw so i loosened the filter until gas would dribble out now i cant get the saw tuned i think because its glooding out.... So i repacked the fuel filter but broke the oiler t line when instaling so i jb welded the t line back together and i also jb welded the gas tank it had a slight leak its drying now in 2 days when its all dry and cured im going to put gas in it i hope ive got the fuel filter siruation correct now.. Also i want to change my sprockey its warn out but i want a sprocket that will work with aggressive skip tooth regular chain not low profile with a 20" bar.. Or 18 inch maybe... Im using saw for small landscape biz i also need to find some fellng spikes i can mount or custom mount to this saw ive got the minimac 35 its powerful!!!!
This is the "go broke" saw....you will go broke if you work on these for customers...usually owned by cheapskates who have owned them for 30 years, and expect you to get it running like new, yet balk at a repair bill that is over $30.00...no matter how many hours you spent taking it apart, putting it back together, taking it back apart again....
I have an all original mini Mac 6 nice condition. Used very little, still have the paint and max mini lettering on the bar and original chain. Needs a little love. I got it started but it quickly died. I did take the engine out and replace the fuel line myself. It’s not impossible. I am going to let it go if anyone is interested. Post up your email for pics. And or other info.
"This is REAL important!" Then your hand is in the way or it's out of frame or it's out of focus. Sheesh.. How about a redo of this chainsaw? You seem to know what you're doing but I can't see half of it.
One of my favorite videos you have done! Oldie but a goldie.
I learned to saw first one one of these. Rich, these videos are priceless.

Thanks for the tutorial. Great presentation.Real time and no fast motion video.Love the classic country music in the back ground.
Thanks for this. I've got an early Mini-Mac and wasn't sure about that non-removable starter pull cover. Motor is out!!
Glad it helped

I have seen the after market coil on Amazon

Strikingly similar to the Eager Beaver.... Tons of fun to work on, lol..... Thanks for the vid

What’s the RPM’s suppose to be . i recently rebuilt the carb on one, and I want to make sure I don’t cook the saw.
what kind of spark plug and gap do you use???????
If I told you I took my 110 apart to replace the coil & now the chain oil leaks out of the bottom of the case, what did I most likely do wrong?

Hello Ray,
get the saw apart and mfg and model of carb is stamped on it. fuel fuel filter is on end of hose going into tank.

How do I replace the pull string on it?... Mine broke.

How do you re-connect the linkage to the plastic throttle trigger? You did not show yourself doing that in the video.

I got it started but it quickly died. I did take the engine out and replace the fuel line myself. It’s not impossible. I am going to let it go if anyone is interested. Post up your email for pics. And or other info.
The music in the back !
"This is REAL important!" Then your hand is in the way or it's out of frame or it's out of focus. Sheesh.. How about a redo of this chainsaw? You seem to know what you're doing but I can't see half of it.
I agree, if you're going to do this, have your camera in focus, & just use ordinary hand tools.
So you guys know your saws?
Nice job! What a horrible designed saw tho lol
OMG. I think I spent 2 hours trying to get that throttle wire back on my 110... what an ignorant PITA...
Any hints to help me
