- From Mbappe, Messi and Neymar to Kolo Muani, Ramos, and Asensio.. PSG's squad downfall has represented, and even caused, the death of French football. Big clubs are going out of business, major players are leaving and overall, Ligue 1 is in TROUBLE.

League 1 also don't have international appeal like the Prem and La Liga. I am living in the States right now. The Prem is very popular here, and the Latinos basically live and breathe La Liga. League 1 don't have that sort of relevance
Where are you in the US? I'm in Colorado and Liga MX is the big thing here, not La Liga sadly
They should have gone for the French Canadian market lol
I'm in LA and I can guarantee, latinos DO NOT BREATHE AND LIVE La Liga. We watch Liga MX 😎
I didn't realize the third division of English football has as much appeal as the Premier League and La Liga

Girondins got demoted again to the National 2 (4th Tier) a few days ago, they did appeal but the decision was confirmed today.
What Ligue 1 needs to do is stop letting one club(PSG) dominate the market in terms of signing players and let the money equaling spread throughout the league
Looking at the Premier League yes there are certain clubs who have more money than others but when the epl sign tv right deals they make sure the money is spread equally among the clubs so that they can all have money to strengthen their squads. Ligue 1 should've never allowed the new PSG ownership to just go in and buy everyone cause it's not even a competitive league anymore.
PSG controls the league financially and that's not even an understatement. They control the image of the league by being the wealthiest club and the only relevant club in European football, they control the broadcasting, they control the transfers, and they control the trophies. What's finally ended up happening though is this pillaging of the entire league has come back to bite them... as there's no interest in the league because they've destroyed it so thoroughly. PSG fans, particularly outside France, are looked down upon because their club plays unattractive, arrogant football, they don't seem to deserve their status, and these fans feel fake because they just chose a club they know nothing about and only watch UCL. PSG's dominance is over and it's really crushed the rest of the league with it... maybe if they'd been less greedy and the LFP less cowardly, PSG would have a future on the stage of world football because competitive leagues help clubs....... but nope $$$$$$$$$$$
Besides preventing the PSG ownership taking over PSG, what was ligue 1 supposed to do?
Equal TV revenue won’t close the gap to PSG because Ligue 1 doesn’t bring in anywhere near as much as the EPL, plus PSG receives funding from their owners as well as the league and they’ve used that to build the brand up so it also makes loads more commercial revenue than the other clubs. That’s why PSG sign better players than everyone else. What is ligue 1 supposed to do?
@@mrsomeone846 The game is just completely piloted by American money or oil money and there's no way around it, the league can't do much aside from turn big money away and at that point all the league could do is lag behind the other oil leagues. The only solution would be to find ways to gain wider audience and market the league as a whole to the world without PSG being at the forefront of everything, because we now know you can't market a whole league with one team. The perfect time is now, given PSG's slipping toward obscurity with it's bad transfer business and shift in philosophy. International broadcasting being in the hands of Qatar doesn't help the marketing of the league as a whole, of course, and as a result finding successive deals from networks that want actual profitability as opposed to tiny audiences tuning into solely PSG matches. Going forward, the league has to focus on building the whole of it up as it finds deals. Football streaming is getting expensive, maybe they could find a cheap niche to get to foreign audiences and grow from there.... but one thing is for certain, building an entire overseas marketing project around one irresponsibly run oil club isn't how to do it. I also find it insanely hard to believe Ligue 1 can't get on with a broadcaster that already has other leagues... like ESPN+ in America broadcasts Bundesliga and Eredivisie, and I don't believe there are that many Ajax fans in that country. Ligue 1 just overvalues itself and is going to have to start small. Edit* basically war economy lol.

Crazy that in last 9 years ligue has the same number of team winning titles as the prem.
The Prem would be more exciting if there were more than just the same 5 teams every year that had a chance. And if those top clubs got sanctioned fairly like lower placing clubs. It's already the best league in the world but it's boring seeing the same clubs in a title chase every year. It was great to see Leicester break through despite the odds.
Leicester was brilliant.
Nice to see Newcastle make the Champions League again a couple years back and Aston Villa were great last season.

But they start with banger names and start to think, "meybe they need to do sensible transfer now, not just playing FIFA or something." And now it's fallen apart.
As a german football fan I am shocked about the comparison between the Bundesliga and Ligue 1, but what can you do.
Don't worry, this guy knows next to nothing about European leagues outside of England.
All of us who watch both know the differences between Bundesliga & Ligue 1.

@@vector_vector__ Other than the one dominant team the last few years in each, there is no other meaningful parallel between the two leagues. Anyone who watches more than a few games from Germany and France each year knows this. I would be 100% surprised if Niran has watched 10 German or French league games in the last 5 years, much less 1 year.
Fans are different, money situation is different, gameplay style completely different (German very tactical, French very free flowing), tone of the games utterly different. Only a few of the top German/Austrian/Swiss players leave Bundesliga for Eng/Spa/Ita (like Wirtz as you mention, who will certainly end up at a top 3 team in Eng or Spa, with a huge contract)... German Bundesliga is generally not a "selling" league. Conversely with Ligue 1 (which I'm a fan of, by the way), if a good offer comes from Eng/Spa/Ita/Germ, almost any player and team will accept the deal. They need the money. Which is why Ligue 1 justly deserves the title of a "farm league" despite the fact that the standard of play is quite enjoyable to watch. In fact, that's actually part of the allure. Players in Ligue 1 really want to impress teams in Eng/Spa/Ita/Germ to get a big salary offer. Players in the Bundesliga (with a few top tier exceptions) are already playing for the top salary they'll ever earn.
Also ... Man City has won 6 of the last 7 Prem titles, and if Rodri weren't hurt would be pretty much a lock for this year as well. So is English football just the same as German and French to you?

Absolute BS. Man City have won 6 of the last 7 premier league titles. The only L now is that Mbappe left. PSG team are really exciting to watch as they’re focusing a lot on developing high potential young players. Marsielle has an amazing project going in right now. Monaco are still competitive and pumping out talent. Lyon have made some enticing transfers this summer. Folks need to chill…
The league is in a bad spot regardless of some of this. Lyon appears to be the only club on the up, Monaco are still above water because of monarchy, Marseille is signing rapists for attention and look like they've got a project going every season, and PSG has wrecked the league and itself both on the field and off. You can't plunder a league for so long and then wonder why no one likes and/or cares about your football club.
Yeah Niran and almost all the commenters don't watch French footy -- not to mention there's some clear anti-French bias going on -- so I'd just take all their words with a grain of salt. For me, teams like Monaco, Brest, Lille, Toulouse, Montpellier, Reims, and late-season Lyon were excellent viewing last season. Let's hope lower TV revenue won't have too large an effect on payrolls.

The real main issue with the Dazn deal is the price for fans:
40€ a month to watch 8 games per week, with no Sunday recap, no multiplex, no dual-commentary on some games is CRAZY. L1 attempted that with Mediapro in 2021 and lost huge amounts of money. Dazn is paying less, charging more, and doing less. Ligue 1 may be fucked in a few months
That's awful without any recap either is horrendous even the J-league is being broadcasted on DAZN
I’m a United supporter, but I’m a fan of Lyon as well so I watch Ligue 1, I was pretty nervous about the tv deal but I knew they’d get something done. I wish they weren’t so greedy and just took the €750M deal that was in place.
Hopefully they wake up and go about this smarter next contract, the FFF need to have the clubs get on a financial plan within France to help get things back on track.
Hopefully more competition as well which will raise fan interest. As a Lyon fan we’ve fallen off the past few yrs and even then we’re in a small group of teams that can ‘compete’ for the league title… even then though that small group only has like a 20% chance of winning it like Lille or Lyon.
5:00 The number 69 is probably a reference to the département of Rhône, where Lyon is located, which is associated to the postal number 69 (each département have an assigned number from 1 to 95, not counting overseas having numbers in the 97X or 98X. Special mention to Monaco having number 98.

The state of this league is incredibly disappointing, as the talent and youth systems are there, exporting talent throughout Europe. With proper parience, ligue 1 could grow, but instead it is dominated by PSG financially, there is no competition, and as a result, the whole league suffers
Yo Niran! I'm really loving the retro Super Eagles kit you're wearing. Takes me back to better times when we were really good.
shame what happened to Bordeaux
2024/2025 seaon feels way more exciting that due to intense mercato from Ligue 1 active recruitment from all the major clubs. 2nd thing French stars are not all going away from France, retention of talent seems better this year, we're also starting to see french players coming back to France (just a little). Biggest challenge is Ligue 1 is a rather very defensive league and rather physical, leading to a lot referee call fractionning the game and not making very appealing at times. The french clubs still needs to be more aware of how to defeat competitors at the European level. Only a few clubs have that international experience and it shows during each european club competition
Love the nostalgic music in the background🔥🔥

This commentary is ignorant and myopic. I enjoy your humorous Prem coverage, but when you talk about other European leagues, your commentary is often quite poor, and you seem quite literally "out of your league" when it comes to useful knowledge. This video is spurred on solely by Mbappe leaving PSG, and the new TV deals being a bit underwhelming.
- As someone who watches 100-200 English and 100-200 French football games every year, I can tell you that the French league is more fun to watch (except I don't watch PSG routing everyone, since the Qataris afford them 2x as high a payroll as anyone else, like watching Man City play Forest).
- PSG made it to the semis of the Champions League in 2024, even though Mbappe missed some games. They were exciting to watch and fancied to beat Dortmund, and then to go lose to Real Madrid in the Final. I can't believe how you're casting shade on their current lineup: they just picked up Joao Neves and Willian Pacho, national team players who would start on any Prem side. They have Hakimi (one of the top 3 RB in the world), Dembele, Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Barcola, Kolo Muani, Fabian Ruiz, Kang-In Lee. For you to call out Asensio (usually a bench player) is like saying Liverpool fans tune in to watch Joe Gomez.
- Bordeaux's collapse is the kind of thing that happens to the occasional team in every league.
- Leny Yoro was always going to be sold, it's not because of the lackluster TV deal.
- The TV deal is done now, the companies were playing hardball, happens with every league time and time again. It will have a negative effect on payrolls of course, since they ended up having to accept some fairly lowball offers.
- As far as UEFA country coefficients, France is still a strong #5 as they usually have been for decades. Ligue 1 has always had less money than the big 4, farming up great players to make more money in those leagues. PSG made semis of Champions League, Marseille made semis of Europa League (Toulouse & Lens also had a good showing there, despite your mockery), and Lille took Aston Villa to penalties in the QF of the Conference League. Your commentary makes it clear you watched none of these games, perhaps didn't even know about them.
- In short, the clickbait video title and wrong-headed analysis is doing your viewers a disservice, and smacks of anti-French sentiment.

I think we should have a debate on this here to be honest, PSG have enough money and are trying to make it circulate in the League but other clubs are not willing to sell to them and would rather sell for a lower fee to outside clubs see the likes of Tchouameni, PSG were willing to pay 100m for him but Madrid came in with around 80m and snatched up the deal , the difference between Ligue 1 and The Bundesliga is that clubs sign good players from within the league for a reasonable amount and like that they can keep the competition in the league alive same goes to a league like the Eredivise to it keeps the league alive when you are willing to sell players among each other like that but that isn’t practiced in Ligue 1 players would rather leave the league after a breakout season than Sign for too clubs over there
