Birding in Gambia, October 2019

Most birders visit Gambia in the Winter, when there is less greenery and more migrants. But we wanted to see the local birds in breeding plumage, doing their thing!
We visited some coastal sites and then travelled up to Tendaba and all the way to Janjanbureh, to see the specialities that live up-river such as Egyptian Plover. The river trips there were great.
We can't always get photos of every species - our style is "birding with a camera" rather than dedicated photography. We try to show our favourite photos - sometimes a good photo of a common bird, sometimes a good bird even if the photo isn't so great.
