@@leonkernan That's probably not going to work. The so-called ancient database is probably not the kind of thing that can be iterated through with things like SQL queries. It's probably more like the Kabbalah, so he's probably going to have to find a "rabbi" for that. It's "secret knowledge."

I never understood why people didn't just ascend and then come back as a Merlin or Orici level human.
Because the ancients wouldn’t allow it. If you ascend you gain the knowledge of the universe and god like powers as well. To come back sort of halfway like Anubis and the orici would ruin everything. Ancients found it safer for everyone if whoever becomes human again lost all knowledge they gain from ascending and lose their powers. Just think how many more Anubis type villains there would be
@@hearthjunkie8173 Ye, also most people who ascend don't really wanna descend any more, otherwise the ancients would have come for their left behind brethren.
I mean part of the whole ascension process is to shed yourself of all physical burdens of life. Wanting to come back as a powerful being would essentially prevent you from ascending in the first place.
The only exceptions were "flawed" ascended beings who either didn't ascend on their own (Anubis, Daniel) or excluded from the ancients for breaking the rules (Orlin).
Oh and of course those who needed to interact with the physical world to help the higher beings in the long run (Merlin).
Though this part of the story is really stupid and just for plot convenience I guess.
HearthJunkie there wouldn’t be Anubis type villains, because Anubis was a one off, that tricked his way in. Everyone else, would have been , you know, not evil, or they wouldn’t have gotten in in the first place

Did they get killed when the Atlantis team killed the Ori? Didn't it kill all ascended beings?
no, the Sangraal or the anti-ascended weapon only kills ascended beings within one galaxy at a time, and the weapon was activated within the Alteran (Ori) home galaxy, not Milky Way or Pegasus. It was SG1 that sent the weapon, not Atlantis
Also, it was focused on the Ori.

I heard mr Wright is working on a reboot of stargate atlantis and stargate universe following the comic of stargate atlantis and universe there are still big rumors that they have something planned,plus prime video bought the copyright to SG1,SGA and SGU so i dont know what that means it was not cheap either

lasarith2 and I never understood why they didn't slow down the replicator blob when they were battling the Asurans and raid their stash of ZPM's or, I don't know, capture one and force them to show you how to construct them.
Brian Campbell Aye, all I remember is the writers saying we can’t have the Atlantis expedition getting too powerful the catcher a wraith ship only to lose it the next episode because balance of power they alway need to be seen fighting the good fight, you would have thought though McKay and Beckett would have had a Episode where the look for the ZPM construction room within the city 🤷🏼♂️

they dont have all the ancient knowledge until after they're ascended, they were just common folk just living out their thousand years of lives waiting to ascend. in which after they're ascended, they're not allowed to intervene

This series put a lot of effort into the "definitely a different society" messages
he couldve ascended - without much effort on his part or him being 'near ascension' and im guessing without the annoying rules that ancients put forth and he rejects it? i so hated this decision.
He should've gone, he had a chance
Step 1: Ascend. Step 2: Tell Atlantis everything about Ancient tech (including how to make ZPMs). After all, talking isn’t really interference. Step 3: Descend.

the weird thing about ascension and descending is in the show they say you can ascend so long as you know how to prepare your body and mind to do so. but when it comes down to descending your ascension status, the show tries to give an limit to how many times a person can do this kind of thing to the point where they can no longer do so.
the also have to live a fine line of no interference and no interaction, it seems rather meaningless of an existence. i mean O'Neill said it best, "what's the point of having all this power if you can not use it"?
i honestly don't blame Merlin for not returning in the ranks of the others. it's not like they do anything of value for the universe, i know in the show it was said by that Ori guy that they shielded you.
but what does this even mean besides hiding our existence just up until the point where we simple humans mettle in the old alteran tech only to discover it lifted the vial that was blocking the Ori from seeing us was now suddenly open.
they could have very well prevented us from finding the stones and that device that made the link possible into the Ori galaxy. it's almost like the ascended or the others were there to only prevent their own from doing anything. if that's all there is to be an ascended, it's a pointless meaningless life.
it seems like it's an reward after death. but it appears to be somewhat of an prison. now with all that said, i would like another show to be started to explain these questions i have that i might be misunderstanding, but it would be great to know why they do these things even when the Ori found themselves within our galaxy.
@@5226-p1e All excellent points. Speaking specifically about the show not allowing too many of these "free passes" (which makes sense, otherwise everything starts to lose suspense), I was talking from the angle of the show "being real life"

good idea, but being one of the ascended doesn't really make you all knowing. but it does give you the opportunity and potential to know more and learn from an never seen prospective. it's almost like turning on no clip and god mode while playing a video game.
your not all knowing or even all seeing, your just impossible to kill and can fly and walk through walls only ascension seems to be slightly more advanced because they use fast travel without the need of a stargate and an space ship.
it does make me wonder if they have the ability to discover other parts of the universe, even the places they never visited outside of the gated networked galaxy's.

As I see it even if it's not consistent it's Matter turning into Energy in a sense. I think also a difference in some ways of ascension during life vs death.

People keep saying that Atlantis doesn't belong to earthers. Yet every Ancient from the city has said to take control of the city. The Aurora class people should have checked records first.
when weir jumped back 10,000 we saw the ancients hubris in full swing, only janus had an expanded mind. remember, the ancients were pretty much the ONLY highly evolved primary race in 2 galaxies. they would see anyone or anything else as inferior.

I loved the ascension stuff but it wasn't what got me into Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis. If John ascended the series would have fundamentally changed. I am glad he didn't. I like the characters and their story arcs.
As far as ascension goes, I want my physical body. It's part of the reason we are here on Earth. We wanted to be more like our Heavenly parents. It's from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

there is only one problem with that escending stuff and its that some people in real life believe that its something that actually exists and that humans in real life can acheive it one day to . I'll try not to laugh at this
Weir goes back in time. Scientist shows Weir what to do to keep the power on, but doesn't leave files telling her how to recharge ZPMs or make new ones, because that Weir had to be aged and die because that Weir knew all the secrets. When the Atlantis expedition reached Atlantis and everything came on, there was nothing to indicate that a stasis chamber was in use. Not even when they were shutting down functions to conserve power did stasis chamber in use pop up. McKay would have noticed something like that. When they left Atlantis outside San Francisco, why did they leave it in the international shipping lanes?
The ancients dint have time to tell her, besides they dont want to give technology to potentially alter the balance of power in both galaxies.
Tbh, they were busy evacuating. Besides, they are pretty arrogant and probably wouldn't bother telling her out of prejusice for being not as smart as them.
I believe the concept of the ZPM is that it's not possible to recharge them. The way I understand it from how it was explained in Stargate Atlantis is that they harness vacuum energy from an artificially created micro-universe. Once that micro-universe reaches maximum entropy, it becomes impossible to harness any zero-point energy from them. The large reactor that blew up a planet in one episode was an experiment to try to harness Zero-point energy from the universe we live in, being that it's infinitely larger than the micro-universes of the ZPM, it would effectively mean limitless power. That's why they were pretty desperate to acquire that reactor.

It does exist in a manner of speaking in our reality
You don't gain god like powers or become pure energy, but you gain knowledge of the universe, the same calm, different demeanour that ascended beings tend to have
As Daniel once said "it's an amazing journey", it also doesn't make you omniscient either
It's very difficult and from what I've heard it's extremely painful but well worth it
My advice is to look up various philosophies (one of them is stoicism, also try Nietzsche as well (afaik normal people either don't understand him or misunderstand him a lot, the target audience of his works are not the majority of the population/the masses)) to gain a sense of it, as well as knowledge of goal setting, planning, critical thinking etc
Classic and highly ranked philosophical work along the lines of Aristotle, Jung, nietzsche, stoicism etc are among them
The process kind of does make you a higher being tbh, but because of the investment required and the pain involved (perhaps among other things) many people never go through it
@@rexthompson5909 Your entire comment is absurd. Philosophy does not give you any knowledge of the universe, it only gives you tools which you can use on the journey to become wise. Physics gives you an understanding of how some of the universe works.
Studying philosophy also does not require you be calm and boring like these ancients sorts. Stoicism the rejection of not only suffering but also of pleasure is for the masochists' who want an unhealthy worldview. Apathy is the lack of suffering, a far better pursuit.

It's interesting how Momoa was later on connected to another Atlantis as Aquaman.

I don't mean to be mean or ignorant but are there any RUclips posters who actually post, upload full-sized episodes of any of the Stargate series shows? I must specify 'full screen', not the small video window within the screen but the full screen. All I've found is: The Ripple Effect and the sterilization of earth episodes, just the 2, everything else is rather irritating short clips.

what if all of this movies and shows are the real thing? what if the Stargate is a real deal? so many of the movies have foretold of the things that later had come. I believe in a TIME TRAVEL and PARALLEL UNIVERSES. If ascension is real then where ALL THE ASCENDED PEOPLE ARE GOING? AND WHAT THEY ARE FEELING?

Besides some exceptions like this one - It is incredibly sad that they had to ruin what could have been another "all around" incredible Stargate Series by making Stargate Atlantis a horror flick show.
