Just thought I'd let you know, I checked out your site & you are now going to be my new supplier! About $2 more for parts, but free shipping, & HQ parts are worth that extra few bucks. Hope to have a longstanding relationship with you guys!
Very cool Patrick. Glad we could be your supplier :D
Thanks to your instructions, I just finished replacing my failing battery. You're absolutely right, space between buttons is very weak. My tablet had cracked there from years of use, your attention to detail prevented me from finishing it off. Thank you!
Works good! Thanks for the tutorial. My only suggestion would be to maybe link to a second video showing the reverse process. Granted it was easy enough to just follow the same steps backwards but it just made me really nervous going backwards through the process feeling like I was missing something.
Screen was replaced, took a little under an hour and aside from the screen exploding in my face (wear safety goggles or at least glasses to avoid flying shrapnel!) Everything works 100% again and I now have a working tablet for 1/4th of the cost of taking it to someone to replace it for me!
Dylan Pierce nice!
Great job on the video. My 6 year old dropped hers and cracked the screen. Bought a replacement on Amazon.com for $9 and took me 30 minutes to do the replacement thanks to this guide. Thank You
alzee0da0mistic . We are glad to hear your repair went well!
thank you very much for the video...i wasn't sure i would do this repair for a customer until i watched this video...ordered the parts from you guys and they got here TWO DAYS later...awesome shipping...great parts...informational videos and my pocket is a little happier...you guys freakin rock...thanks again!!!!
Thank you so much for this video! I managed to fix my son's tablet for way less then it would have been to send it away through the store! It was very easy to follow along (I'm a stay at home mom and I'm at a total loss when it comes to technology!)
Great to hear! We always appreciate the feedback.
Damn man, sorry to hear that. Your example is exactly why we recommend purchasing the combination screen (LCD + Touch Screen), makes it much easier to complete the repair. If you would like to purchase we have them available on our site :)
Great demo. Amazing. Even my Tabs display is broken and repairers couldn't undrstand how to resove. Now I shall show them this video. Thankyou very much.
I just tried this tip on a Tab3 7" worked a treat. now it will turn on and charge. thank you. still don't know why it has never been able to install any app. it's fine as a Web browser though. thanks again for this informative video
One tip I have for removing the glass is to use a guitar pick. Once you pry the glass up with your pry tool, or in my case the edge of a pocket knife, push the pick up under the glass and you can slide it around the frame to loosen the glue. Makes it really easy
Really good video. I taped up my broken screen with strips of masking tape to stop it breaking up as I removed it. Watch out for finger prints on the 'inside' when you're re-assembling it with a new screen. Isn't the Samsung awesome for maintainability though. I did my iPhone a few weeks ago and this was so much easier despite the glue.
Would be nice to extend the video to include putting on the Touch Screen Digitizer and how many adhesive would be needed for the repair. Other than that, this is the best vid I have seen for getting to and taking off the touch screen on the Samsung Tab 2 7".
Thank you for the feedback. We'll provide your feedback to our video production team. Thanks for following.
ive just watched your video and it made it so easy for me to remove the cracked screen , im just hoping i can fit replacement as easy as it was removing it ,thankyou
The replacement screen can be secured to the frame using adhesive strips. And no, you don't need to remove all the internal parts, just any that involve the removal of the touch screen and LCD.
You're welcome! And yes, the safe open pry tool is clutch!
Yes it has happened. It's very important to not overheat the device, make sure to follow the exact heating instructions.
This is a great tutorial! I followed it step by step and my tablet works perfectly!
You don't need to initialize the new screen. However, its possible one of the flex cables for the LCD screen became loosened during the repair. Be sure all the internal connections are secure.
Glad to hear it! You're very welcome!
Super easy! I was impatient and didnt wait for the safe open pry tool.. i would definitely recommend that next time. Thanks!
I just replaced my kids screen using your tutorial and worked out perfectly. Thank you :)
Excellent video! I reversed the steps to install the new screen (was just replacing the touch screen), and now my display is just a couple of thick lines whose colors vary based on where the tablet is at in the boot process. Any ideas? The LCD was fine before I changed the touchscreen, so I would be surprised if that suddenly went bad. Do I need to do anything to initialize the new screen?
Yes, that is often the problem. Be sure all of the internal connections are securely in place.
Yes you could skip ahead in the video. However, you will want to make sure not to overheat the device while using the blow dryer, to avoid damaging the vital components you have left attached. If you have the extra time you may want to just follow all the steps shown.
Thanks. Even though you warned me in the video and the comment, I managed to damage the LCD digitizer while replacing the touch glass. Doh. People, take him seriously when he says to be careful not to over-heat your device when loosening the adhesive!
Nice vid!!
Following this great tutorial i have changed my broken Galaxy tab 2 (GT-p3110) touch screen but when changed, the calibration doesnt work fine. I dont understand whats happening. Please could you tell me something to do. Thank you!
I just popped out the entire tab from the back housing and used a thin exact-o blade to remove the cracked screen. One suggestion: use some wide clear packaging tape on the front of the cracked screen. It prevents the screen from totally breaking apart while removing it from the rest of the tablet and minimizing small glass chards from falling into the table as you are removing the glass. Entire job took about 15 minutes. Easy fix. I used the plastic pry tool and several small flat heat screw drivers as holding tools while removing the back.
Thank you for the feedback.
thanks mate, was able to replace the digitizer on my daughters tab thanks to your guide. thumbs up.
odinp AWESOME glad we could help.
Really good video followed every step fixed in 30 minutes thank you
Thanks for the tutorial. Helped me successfully replace my cracked screen.
Thanks, the video worked perfectly. just replaced my screen on the first shot. powered up perfect great video.
Great tutorial!
Is assembling so easy as disassembling? My screen has been cracked (one long crack only) however everything works fine. Touch is OK, screen displays allright.
I am going to order digitizer replacement however I must ask - how about dust. We know glass is being put inside in quite sterile conditions. In home we have dust in air which could get in a moment we put new glass (digitizer) onto screen itself...?
You would simply reverse the process. Use enough adhesive to ensure down the road you get no dust build up. In regards to the repair, just focus on getting it completed that same day and using an air duster may not be a bad idea. However, dust should not be an issue while you are completing the repair.
Hanif Haq. Is your glass screen cracked, or is the LCD no longer showing a picture. If the glass is damaged, but the picture is okay then please by all means replace just the digitizer.
Yes that is the LCD screen. Prices often fluctuate though, please visit RepairsUniverse (dot) com for the latest pricing.
We recommend to follow the video.
Thanks for this video! Really helped me out fixing my own screen but took a whole lot more time then this video ;).
Sorry to say we don't have a video for that step. However, if you take note of what is done to remove the screen, it should help with re-installing it. F.Y.I.- you will need adhesive strips to secure the new screen.
Repairuniverse is very helpfull.thank you so much I already fixed four tablets
If I am just replacing the top glass (touch screen), I can stop dis-assembly at 3:36 (disconnect touch screen cable) and skip to just using the dryer to pry off the top glass right? I'm assuming the full video was intended for people who need to replace their digitizer as well. Anyway, I am doing this tomorrow so I will confirm after the fact if I don't see an answer prior to my efforts. Great video though, thanks!
Yes, you can skip ahead in the video. A lot of the parts are removed in the video to show others who might need to replace those parts.
Yes, it should hold with adhesive strips.
you have the reverse vid? So far so good but now to put back together :)
Thank you, I successfully replaced my device's broken touch and lcd screen. :)
Repairing the device indoors on a flat surface is usually the best bet. Be sure not to lose any of the components you have removed during the repair.
Great tip! That is definitely a useful method as well.
You're welcome, thanks for the glowing review!
Make sure all of the internal connections are secure. If you continue to have an issue feel free to contact one of our technicians via Live Chat or E-mail on our website RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
It sounds like you have also damaged the LCD screen (internal display). We have a combination screen replacement (LCD and touch screen) available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
No problem!
We don't recommend using any glue. The screen can be secured with adhesive strips. We have the strips available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
And thanks a ton for the descriptive video. It was easy to follow!
just helped me changing my cracked screen. Thanks!
Is it necessary to remove all the components ahead of replacing just the digitiser (not the LCD)? Battery aside, of course... Thanks!
Lovely. I got it back together and turned it on. I heard the sound but have no picture... Any thoughts?
Double check your flex cables to ensure they are seated correctly. If so, the LCD may be the issue on your device.
Great video guys, very professional and informative!
Dude great vid easy to follow along fixed my daughter's tablet easy as can be
+Brad Like Thank you for watching, we appreciate the support.
Hi!
Is it absolutely necessary to remove all parts before removing the broken screen? Or can I just replace it without unplugging all others parts (battery, mic, etc)?
No Problem!
Do you have to remove all those components prior to replacing just the screen? or can it be done with them still inside?
Whats up, The best guide that I have seen was on Volt daddy (i did a google) Gotta be the most detailed info on batteries and this kinda thing that have found.
I did the repair, other than a few cuts from the glass it went great. When i turned it on there was a gray stripe but immediately went away. Now my screen has an occasional twitch and intermittent issues with the touch not working on one side. Also when i turn from portrait to landscape the numbers stick for a second and stay portrait. I have not pulled it back apart yet, do you think it could just be a loose connection?
Yes those are the only tools, and if you are replacing the screen you will need adhesive strips to secure the replacement screen.
To be clear, this was a complete tear-down video. It is not necessary to take all of those components off for a simple screen replacement. Nice video though!
Robbie Baldwin I was thinking the same but I'm not a tech so idk squat lol
Robbie Baldwin in a way you are right but I believe he did so because the heat can damage some of the parts.
Jose,
The best thing for you to do is go to repairsuniverse (.com) and click on the "Livechat" button, that way you can have a technician immediately assist you in finding a solution to fix your issue! But you can try to reset the software if you'd like first and see if that resolves the issue.
Thanks a lot man. was about to throw away my phone but this helped !
varun mangela Rebuild and Reuse! Awesome!
Fantastic, well done video. Thank you!!
Yes we do repairs. However, for a quote please contact us on our website through "LiveChat" or E-mail.
Hi and thanks for the guide!
I changed the Touch screen only, and now when i start the unit. it looks like its not calibrated or if its bad resolution. You know how to fix that? I't cant be the touch screen?
Martin Helliesen A resolution issue would be caused by the LCD. Did you damage the LCD while removing the digitizer?
Thank u very much followed every step, job well done
do you do repairs? if so how do you charge to fix a cracked screen on a galaxy tab 2 7.0.
Hello! excellent video! I have a samsung galaxy tab 3 t210r that has a failure with the warm pixels, you believe that changing the screen of a model t210 civil servant? I imagine that if since in hardware they are the same thing
masterjh1 There are multiple revisions for the Samsung Tab screens, it is possible that they are interchangeable. However, the only way to be sure is to compare the revision numbers on the flex cable.
This video was really helpful, thanks.
Is it important to take the whole thing apart to replace the screen?
this is an awesome vid. it helped out greatly and was able to fix my tablet. thanks gd job.
+juice692003rr Thanks for watching. Happy our video helped.
Excellent tutorial. One problem though. I replaced the screen and all seemed fine but when I turn the device the screen is on fine but is not responsive at all any ideas?
Andrew Robinson What was the original issue with the device? If you installed everything correctly, it might be a defective digitizer.
I found this video tutorial of yours very usefull for me.
thank you for your time to upload this work. I just gave you a Like push, you deserved it
Repairs,
the last part, using a heat gun, the display is fixed by a adhesive right? So should I use the same adhesive to fixe the new display?
thanks!
Sorry but we don't have a reverse video. It sounds more difficult than it is, but you just need to reverse the steps to reassemble your device.
Hello, Great video... Just Like it!!! I have a question. I have the two Galaxy Tab 2 Models. The first model, its the WIFI, its worning fine, Little girl uses just to watch videos, doesnt use the MIC.. And I have the SIM Model, of the Galaxy Tab 2. This one, Suffer a short Fall, after that, the MIC stoped working. No phone calls, No video Calls or Audios... And this model is the one we use more.... MY QUESTION: Is the MIC a replaceble part? Could I open both tablets and Change the MIC from one model to the other¡? Or its a Fix direct in the MainBoard? Could the cable be unplugged inside? what can you recommend me to do? THANK YOU!
The mic is soldered onto the motherboard.
what are the tools needed for this is it just the small Phillips screwdriver and the safe open pry tool ?
what glue do you use to put the glass back on after heating it up and replacing it?
Excellent vid! Worked great. thanks :)
Great tutorial, was very helpful.
Thank you for the feedback. We appreciate the support.
Thanks for all your help..
Great guide. Thank you
Do you have to remove all the components just to replace the screen?
do we need replacement adhesive? or will it be ok to just pop the other screen in?
thanks!
The Best! Ever!,Then other I"ve seen ,and I"ve been around the "WEB" 'smile" He"s SHOW how it make,,it!-do-what-it do! Great Job! "THE BEST"....ever.
Great video it helped me all the way!!
Thank you for the support.
Thanks! works fine for me!
how do I put it back together now? that would be very helpful
I had a Galaxy Tab Plus 7 stuck in a recovery loop where none of the suggestions could fix it. I read one thing that said it had been fixed by re-seating the battery, so I tried the "thin guitar pick" prying technique, similar to the tools like this, but wound up with a hairline. Not sure if it's worth trying to replace the screen (or if I damaged the LCD), since I couldn't get it out of recovery mode anyhow.
Not even sure if it's safe to plug in to charge with part of the circuit board showing. Probably a lost cause, right?
Do you sell the adhesive strips on your website?
Worked for me, thanks!!
Great video, thanks for sharing! Great work!
i followed the instructions and it was quite easy, I have one problem. Now that its back together, I can't access Google Play store or Netflix. Its like it doesn't connet. The WIFI is connected and you can go to the browser and get to a website. I went to the app setting and cleared the cache and history etc. Any thoughts??
i figured it out - the system had reset the clock to 99 - once i corrected that everything works great!!
Vicki what did you do?! I have the same problem!!!
Is it necessary to remove all the parts or is it just safety measure?
Thanks, one more question, on my samsung galaxy tab 2 7" wi fi tab the adhesive strips are not placed like the one on your video, i have done everything beforehand so I'm unsure of what i should do now.
