None of us have the right. None of us deserve to draw close to God. We were gifted the ability to draw close to God through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Galatians 3:2 makes is clear that's it's all based on God's grace. It says, "This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?" It's because of His grace and through our faith that we get to receive the Spirit and operate in the gifts of the Spirit as He wills. Don't disqualify yourself. The blood of Jesus qualifies you. :)
I speak and sing tounges but I continue. This kind of feel most of us go through. But continue to speak in tongues as Holy Spirit leads you.
I have had the ability to prophecy through dreams and visions. In 2005, I was taken up and shown. I long to be in his presence and even when I don't feel it, i keep praising... I long to hear him like before. I long to see and to hear him in everything. @troyblack have you ever felt this feeling of being lifted up in your sleep or even in your praise and worship. Like your spirit and body is lifting? I want that again. Idk what happened and why I am not having the same experience. I still praise him and worship anyway. I have fallen so in love with Him that I can't breathe thinking about Him and what He has done.
Same here, its has been a long time since I speak in tongue but now didnt used it anymore on my a praise and worship time. I just feel Im not worthy to speak.in tongue as Im not a good and holy person

Good reminder. I keep my prayer language in private as the Holy Spirit moves me. I can testify that speaking in tongues in worship and prayer is an effective way to pray. How can anyone listening know and connect the notion of speaking in tongues if the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is not sought and received as described in the Book of Acts? Jesus is the baptizer and it is a separate blessing from the baptism of water for the forgiveness of sins. As John the Baptist testiied, "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire," Matthew 3:11 KJV

For those undecided about this word, I would like to share that I received the Holy Spirit at a young age and the Gift of Payer in Tongues. But then, for a long period after I let puberty and the world lead me off course, I hid my light and that gift under a bushel.
But since repenting and turning back to Christ, I experience waking in the Spirit, speaking in tongues, full of praise for God, and full of peace and comfort.
I also hope you seek the Gifts of the Spirit and the joy and closeness to God that the gift of tongues can bring.
I tried to speak in tongues when I use to go to this one church, I was told to just make any words come out of my mouth which didn't make any sense to me, I didn't know what to say, it was my first time trying it I was confused about it so I just let it go but I always thought about bring it to God in prayer to give me the gift of tongues, I really don't know how to go about it.
The person that told you to speak every word that comes out of your mouth is wrong. That's a gift that only God can give you. You can not force it or try to speak it yourself.
I started praying in tongues consistently every day over the past year and my walk with God has grown deeper. I’m curious Troy when you get a word from the Lord are you praying in tongues and the Holy Spirit gives you the interpretation of the tongues?
Thank you so much. Its been many many years since i have been blessed to listen to praise and worshipping in tongues. I was with my young little lovely daughter Alex and we were walking home when I noticed singing and praise coming from a office building. So we felt the Holy Spirit call us so we entered into His mighty presence and yes there many different tongues that night .We had an interpreter. I understood and was so glad when the prophecy alighned with what I heard and understood. So wonderful Our God is. Yes Holy Spirit let us edify your Choosen People and make disciples with You. I grew up Baptist and beat in my head it is language. A few years ago, God led me to videos of more spiritual gifts like speaking in tongues, casting out devils, etc and that these gifts are for TODAY! I think I already knew deep down about tongues because sometimes they just wanted to come out! But it went against my teachings. I know I have received the gift but is it like a muscle, the more you use it, the better it gets? GBY ALL🤗❤️
Troy, I’m perfectly willing to speak in tongues, but I honestly don’t know how to do it. I guess I always thought it would only happen at the prompting of the Holy Spirit, not by my choice, but when I worship and pray, I just don’t feel anything unusual.
What am I missing? 🙁
Just ask. Believe it's a gift God wants to give you based on what the Scripture says about it, and then ask, seek, and knock. And don't give up while pursuing Him. Luke 11:9-13 is very encouraging when we are asking for a greater experience of the Holy Spirit. We aren't looking for the experience itself. We are looking for more of His will to be done in our lives, and the Word is clear that the gifts of the Spirit are part of that.
However, you don't have to feel anxious or afraid if it doesn't happen right away. Believe the gospel, ask the Father to fill you with the Holy Spirit, be open to the gifts, and it will happen at the right time. When the Holy Spirit prompts you to speak in tongues, just say yes and do it. :) He will be the one speaking through you.

Our Apostolic Pentecostal church teaches the gifts are for today! Had a special service for Pentecost Sunday last week. Most in our church absolutely practice especially during prayer and praise!

Holy Spirit is interceding for you before God’s Throne. And the satan cannot know what is being said between God and you. That’s why The Lord asks us to go into the secret place to pray for they the evil ones cannot hear what’s being said in the spiritual realm and you.
Praying in tongues is a gift from God but my concern with it is that the Bible tells us it should not be utilized unless there is someone to interpret so that all may be blessed. I haven't seen people interpreting it much.
That is true. If there is no one there who can interpret what is being spoken. They are to keep silent.
There are different types of the gift. Paul talks about it as a private gift, too, for your own personal prayer life. That is available to all (I desire for you all to speak in tongues). In fact, because you already have Holy Spirit in you, you already have "access" to tongues. No one is "left out" or "deficient"! Just talk to Holy Spirit about it!!

No aliens
I felt a half year ago like, I do not want to lose control. He has once again given the vehicle again... I am thankful, yet this life we really need it as well, to keep our strength up.
Oh yes, it has indeed been encouraging! For me, you are confirming what just happened the other day when a group of us prayed for each other for healing. I knew I needed to sing but didn’t know what to sing… I said “OK Jesus, here we go”, took a deep breath and tried singing in tongues for a bit. New prayer language came out (at least I didn’t recognise the words from any previous tongues I get in private prayer) and a nice little tune.
Later, I had some words in Swedish to sing. I got them much the same way as the first song, I.e. I didn’t know what the were going to be before, but they rolled out just as I started to sing.
Afterwards, I believe the other song was simply the words, or the meaning as far as it could be conveyed, of the first song translated to our mother tongue.
It was both hilarious, marvellous and awesome seen in retrospect. And yes, the words were prophetic as goes to the persons we prayed for. The gist of it was three verses ending in 1) I am protected under Your blood, 2) I am healed by your blood, 3) I am cleansed by Your blood.
I notice much more peace, joy and freedom when I am in a season of praying in tongues more. I have been on and off the last couple years since it first happened, and I can for sure say it makes a difference when I am doing it a lot compared to not doing it. The last week or so I have been increasing my praying in tongues after quite a long season of warfare and I have been feeling more and more free and at peace each day. And today I just saw another video where someone just happened to talk about how it also is involved with healing (this video was not about praying in tongues, they just so happened to mention it). So God is definitely trying to tell us something here.
I hope you're not starting to resort to click-bait. I would've appreciated it more had you simply stated gift of tongue as your topic. God's messages would be heard, no need for roundabouts...
He quickly got to the point of the video and even said the message was given metaphorically. I noticed he said this within the first 30 seconds of the video. Lovingly, it sounds like you want him to do it the way you want him to, but not the way the Holy Spirit revealed the message to him? Christians will do well to remember our aim is to please God...not man.
The fact you mentioned is a red flag for those with the wisdom to see it. These videos are strictly commercial, all about drawing you in with whatever dishonest title/hook it takes. For those who have eyes, let them see.

At church one woman spoke in tongues, and when it was interpreted by another person who understood, it was in hebrew. God was saying " I am the Messiah". It blew my mind because it was so powerful. I wish I could do it, but I don't know enough about how to start. 🙏

I've just finished it last week and it got me really excited about it and how much the Church just lost interest in the gifts or they think it's not available for everyone.
Please don't fall for this deception brother. Speaking in tongues isn't just speaking random gibberish. I'll give you an example of speaking in tongues say that I am a German person and you are Chinese person and we both do NOT speak Russian but then all of a sudden I am speaking Russian to you and you understand it. That is the gift of tongues not saying random gibberish things!

Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit." If I don't speak to people I don't speak Russian, Chinese, Portuguese, Arabic, Hebrew, none of these languages. The example you gave is 01 of the manifestations of Tongues. Nevertheless this will always be a debate and we should each find our own convictions by the Spirit. God bless you my brother!

Thankyou for this wonderful clarity. I have sung and spoke in tongues for so many years before I'd even heard of tongues a few years ago. No religion showed me this because I didn't take part in that world. It was just me, Jesus and God. I would just sing in the spirit and I would instantly feel the shower of Heaven 😊❤

God talks to me an a daily in a language I already understand. I am also blessed on a regular from God and not only my friends and family have witnessed this. Doctors, nurses, business people I really did not know personally also have. When people ask how I am my doing my answer is better than most worst than a few..

Hi Troy, I have been saved, baptized in water, but I desire to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
I have the Holy Spirit, but not baptized therein. I went to Rodney & Adonica Howard-Brown
in Tulsa, OK (I live in OKC) with the intention of being baptized in the Holy Spirit, but it was not what the advertisement showed. In fact what happened was he spoke of what he did in Africa and other countries. The advertisement actually showed some of the occurances of Africans and other countrymen
being saved and receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
I don’t mean to be tearing anyone down, this is just what I saw and experienced.
I need prayer for my ears to heal. Right now they hurt and get plugged very easily and I have used olive oil and showered them a lot in warm water.
And also I got ringing sound in my ears.

I've never spoken in tongues and I don't know how.
I encourage you to read about the gift of tongues in the Word, but also to read and pray through Luke 11:9-13. In it, Jesus shows us that receiving more of what the Holy Spirit has for us can be a process, and it can take asking and continuing to ask in faith. Also, He makes a promise that helps alleviate any fear associated with it. He uses the illustration of a parent giving their children food instead of something evil and says that God is even better than human parents. He essentially is saying, you don't have to be afraid of the devil intercepting your prayers when you are asking the Father for more of the Holy Spirit and His gifts in your life. :)
Keep asking, keep believing, don't get discouraged, and don't worry if it doesn't happen right away. God is faithful and He will do it.

My wife can pray in younger and sometimes she’ll start to pray in English and then it turns into trouble randomly. I know it’s personally between her in Jesus but I get lost in what was being prayed for other than what I knew. She never knows too. But that’s something personal between her spirit and God.

Ok Troy thank you for the video but my question about this is literally, how do I do this. How does it happen? Do I just get quiet and wait and then the Holy Spirit takes over and words come out without me using my voice? Or do I just start speaking whatever syllables come to mind and keep going? I really don't understand what I'm supposed to do or what is supposed to happen.
Firstly, ask God for this gift. Praying in tongues does not require thinking about what comes out, it just comes out like its natural when you do it. Listen to God when you ask him and he will direct you.
For those who are unable to speak in tongues, consider it a blessing. You subconsciously will not allow yourself to take part in this self created hallucination. Those who claim they are speaking in tongues are only fooling themselves, while others, whether they know it or not, don't get it because there is nothing to get. For the latter of the two I strongly recommend you stay away from those who teach tongues before you fall into something that could cost you dearly in the end.

I do pray in tongues, I am currently not attending church, but there are times when I receive interpretation and times when I just feel that it’s a prayer I cannot utter and I speak in tongues until I receive peace. I don't understand how one learns the grammar, vocabulary, nouns, pronouns, etc., of "Tongues". I do believe it exists because the Bible says So and I have heard many teachings about "tongues" but not one teacher has ever said "Here's the comprehensive book that contains the words".
This is coming from someone who has been fluent in Spanish for 25 years and has a bachelor's degree in Spanish.

Troy, please pray and ask about Dinosaurs and Dragons and what the Lord has to say about it. I've had some dreams and revelation in this area that says we've been intentionally lied to on some things concerning these beings. Curious what he will tell you.
I was taught that the speaking of tongues, on the day of Pentecost, consisted of the prophets speaking and everyone who heard them heard the Gospel in their own language - to the very accent & terminology of their 'hood. It was supernatural & of the Holy Spirit. Whereas, the repetitive gibberish I hear people spouting sounds coerced to fit in. I also remember how demons speak languages unknown to the possessed person. How do we reconcile these with the biblical? I ask because I went to sleep in prayer, asking God for clarification on this question, I woke the next morning speaking a gibberish that I quietly listened to for a while, before tentatively engaging with it. How do I continue in a proper engagement? Just allowing The Lord to intude, there's no intrusion, in my mind/mouth? It's different each time and usually people I hear speaking in videos say the same phrases. Mine sound like different countries: African clicks & pops, arabic sounding, sing-songy Asian, gutteral Goth sounding, totally unfamiliar phrasing of sounds. I don't want to offend The Lord, but I don't want to open myself to anything else. I always pray that God's Will be done, in every thing.

Luke 11:9-13 is your answer. When seeking the Holy Spirit and more of what He has with a genuine heart (which the Lord sees), you don't have to fear accidentally receiving something that isn't from the Lord. Now, you may need to pray and ask Him for clarity over whether something is the Lord or just you, but you don't need to fear the demonic if you are truly seeking the Holy Spirit.
Amen! God changes up the languages in tongues, sometimes! Just go with it, and keep asking Him to lead you by His Holy Spirit. You never know whom or what situation in the world you are praying for! 🙏🏼❤️✝️📖🤗
