This is the best song Jon ever wrote. His vocals are phenomenal. In my opinion this is Jon's Masterpiece. Instrumentally it's beautiful..lyrically it speaks of truth. This song is perfection. I wish he had done more like this.

Hands down Jon's best work, the entire album actually but this one is a masterpiece! I always tell people to listen to Santa Fe, his voice was perfection here.
I was in elementary yrs when this song as popularized, now I’m turning 50 YO and still love to listen.
It broke my heart to hear Jon a few years ago, his voice broken by fatigue and decades of giving it all. I thought maybe the young people would think this was all he is. While he is one of the greatest, and forget about all the famous songs, and the soft rock. It's the less famous songs like this that show his genious. A true poet with a unique voice.
totally agree, the writing talent of Jon, Emileo said he did the songs Blaze of Glory and Santa Fe and more, almost overnight. again, the writing skills Jon has is so full of heart and sole, story telling . you feel you're there.
Without Jon there wouldn't have been a lot of musicians...great singer.
