Fascinating video! I sure wish there had been a Herpetology class offered at NNC when my husband and I were biology majors back in the late 70s! Field bio classes were THE BEST!

very interesting, thanks for sharing. We have an eco ranch in southern Baja, Mexico and witness many rattlesnakes every year.

Thank you. What exactly do you do at your eco ranch? Just curious.

What's the snake thinking through all of this training with a bunch of large humans pinning it down and sticking its head in the tube many times?? 😂

Ive handled a lot of rattlesnakes and don't like it so have decided to stop. They're skin and jaws are really elastic and they explosively yank their heads after relaxing. Their fangs can protrude sideways out of their mouths, or through their bottom jaw, which envenomated one fellow I knew in the thumb. If I keep doing it, my turn will come. A little context: I live in Arizona and encounter rattlesnakes in and around my yard quite often, so catch and release a few miles away.

Why not just leave them alone. Man doesn't own Wildlife.

      And you don’t own man.
Why not just mind your own fucking business?
Man manages wildlife accordingly, and if you can’t see that then you’re the wrong person to judge.

Research and venom extraction is important. Many medical advances with rattlesnake venom. Stop being negative some of you

Oh how convenient, having a precisely sized tube when you encounter a rattlesnake. smh free handing is not for showing off but it's often all you have when in the wild

DrManhattan00 thanks for your comment. As I’m sure you are aware, there are entire sets of these tubes with various sizes, and if you are intentionally seeking venomous snakes for research, as we were, it is the safest way to manage the snake. I’m glad you have so much experience free-handling in the wild. Best of luck to you.
