Question....did you visit Churchill in October or November? I heard that timing is critical during the six week bear period and a bit of a gamble because sea ice doesn't freeze along the same time line every year. Arrive too early in October when temperatures are above average and you'll see maybe one bear. Arrive too late in early November during a weather cycle when temps are way below average and the bears will have already left for the sea ice while you're left standing there looking at nothing but barren tundra with your $3000 camera and zoom lens.
The trip was in early November. Yeah you are right the window for seeing this isn't that long. But like any wildlife viewing there is no guarantee when the best time will be, how long it will last, or how many bears you'll see especially nowadays when climate change is taking place right in front of our eyes. I guess I was lucky on that day but I heard late October to early November will be your best bet. I also went to Churchill in late August years back, saw two bears (and hundreds of beluga whales), and I was already very happy about this experience!
Lived in Churchill for 23 years and enjoyed seeing bears always

Great video, but I know the polar bear was trying to work it out, how to get to you, they don’t want to play with you, they want to eat you.
