Harry was gracious. While he owned the JD, he was still very complimentary of the Toro. Class act! PS: Although a Torophile, the JD was undeniably a nice piece of equipment. Thanks for the video!
Excellent Tests. I would have loved (for curiosity) have seen the race without the blades on. Toro had a good reputation of being able to cut well at full speed. Very nice cutting different grass! 💪 Best test I've seen you do between 2 mowers. 🙏🏾
Ha ha, well, I'm sure I'm biased - I have a JD Z960M (2020 model). To me, they looked very similar, but I'll have to go with the results of test #2 - it looked like the Deere mulched maybe a little better. Not surprising, as Deeres are known for their good decks. But, since I don't mulch, it wouldn't make that big of a difference for me. I'm not a landscaper, just own a home with 5+ acres, so I need a serious machine to handle all of it (especially since I get rained out fairly often and have to go quite a bit longer than I should between mowings). Also, I do like the faster traveling speed of the Toro - there are times when I could use that, not often, though. Thanks to both guys - love seeing and learning from all of these kinds of videos!
Not sure who told you John deere are know for good decks but there not. Mostly stamp decks. Maybe the commercial ones are better but certainly not the residential mowers.
I have a 52in Z Master 4000 HD with the FX801V and love it. That JD 7-Iron deck provides a nice cut, but it came down to price and features for me. The Toro was simply more competitive for the price IMO.
First time I watched one of your videos. I'm a fan of Al Blades. I think it's great you giving him a new mower. I told him it was like blessing networking.
well matched up and both great mowers I agree with the service that some dealerships have but what we do for our customers is when they drop off a mower for repair they load a demo of the equivalent and never miss a beat !!we have several stand on and commercial Z turns demos available its a win win for us
Expo and then standers thanks for the video guys l loved it maybe l can get JD to demo the new 800 series stander Toro versus JD again thanks and God bless Harry and Susan Erhart Erhart landscaping
@@chiphawthorne4248 me too my favorite time of the year and my 40th year at Expo I'm looking forward to many years of friendship with Main St mower very impressed with your dealership and outstanding service 👍👍👍👍
I gotta Z930A (Z930R now) it has cross ported hydros with a 30hp Kawi and 60” MOD deck. Even cutting thick wet grass it still has a clean cut and strips all at the same time. I know there are other greats brands but you really can’t beat a z900 series. I can’t speak for the M model because I’ve never had the opportunity to run one but I’m sure they are pretty close in comparison. But then again the newer the mower the cheaper it’s built.
We currently do not have a video like that or even a JD on hand to record something like that. However, you might want to consider calling our store in case you need info about the d-4000
The 7 Iron is a much better all around deck, especially in the north where the true test of how a deck cuts happens. ANY deck will cut stiff southern grass, especially at those low heights. Wet northern turf, the JD is hands down better. That JD is in the same class as the Toro 6000 machines, not the 4000 series.
the deere 7 iron is higher capacity better air flow and deeres blades are thicker the design is by far superior you can not bend a blade or spindle. the toro is a good mower also
Why do all the toro i see mow so well but the one i own does not i have the 4000 hdx 31 hp with the 52" electric deck and the myride and it mows like crap since i bought it brand new 2 years ago
The JD Mod deck is trash and it’s well documented on the Lawnsite Forum. Compare the Toro without a kit to the standard 7 iron pro and you will see what that Deere is really all about. I don’t even own a Deere but I’ve seen them operate and I have to hand it to them. Might just be my next machine.
@@mainstreetmowerthe MOD (Mulching on Demand) deck is an option on all the 900 series JD’s. It has the tighter baffling and the chute blocker. The standard JD 7 iron pro is the standard deck that comes on those machines and is in the top 2 best 2 cutting decks made in all around conditions. Exmark Ultra Cut (probably the best in dry conditions but can’t touch the standard 7 iron pro in damp lush grass because of clumping and dispersal. Most decks have preferred conditions for its best cut. The standard 7iron pro does the best in all around conditions. I’ve read very few reviews where anyone really raved about that (MOD) deck used in your video. JD dealers I know actually have a hard time selling their mowers with that particular deck. You need to try that same mower with the standard deck is my suggestion but If mulching is a necessity on your accounts it is what it is the Toro just may be the choice. We don’t run many Toro’s in the south but Exmark (the Toro cousin) is pretty prevalent around here along with Skag and JD.

I really enjoy both mowers but there is something special about John Deere mowers always a nice ride and never left me any issues
At the end of the day it does come down to your preference and the dealer support you have available. Both great units though 🙂

👀 GRAVELY PRO TURN 660? I'd love to get a good comparison video with you one day, sounds like good fun content.
Absolutely man. Lets do it!
Used to live in Pasco where trinity is. Hello former neighbor. Lol. Nice John Deere
For cutting countryside pastures i would buy the John deere. H2n when cutting more manicured urban type properties i would want the toro 4000 mower.
Love this!
🤣
Ready set go !!!........🤩🤩🤩
Ótimo vídeo amigos

I'm looking for a comparison between a Toro D-4000 -vs- JD 1600 Turbo TerrainCut; I am wanting to purchase one for our School District of 700+ acres.

I will have to have a mulch kit. I don't like the side discharge.
Both mulch decks😊
You guys should put a couple Ballard Gold blades under each (SHARP) and do it again. 🤣😁
My blades you could shave with Fisher Barton makes J D blades a lot better than Chinese blades from Ballard where do his blades come from??
Anyone seen the self sharpening blades?? anyone that's tried them never go back to the standard blades
I think he will trade the John Deere in for a toro soon. Next cutting season he will be on a toro. Hahahaha
haha yes he made the switch not too long after the video.
Toro forsure
All day!
It's all preference. You need to drive them.
Absolutely agreed. Your personal preferences and the most reliable service you can get.
PLEASE DO TORO 4000 vs BAD BOY ROGUE!!!
We will see if we can get our hands on a rogue. No promises though, because it gets really hard to get a new unit and dog it like we do 🙃

deere rides rougher but the tuff torq hydros are smoother and stronger than hydro gears
The 960m is gone 🙂. Scag Tiger Cat 2 61 is next 32 Briggs Vanguard 😮😮😮
Oh that's so sad Harry, going to miss that beautiful machine. Very happy for you though.
No more service problems with JD the dealership is fine but unit problems clutch deck bearing problems you need 2 machines when one is in the shop😡
I think it was a dead on draw both Toro and John Deere are good mowers
