You might never see this under the thousands of comments but I shave my head. Not for medical reasons. I shave my head to make it normal for girls to be bald. because in my head I feel like if someone who HAS to shave their head sees someone who is shaved just for being shaved they wont feel alone. My mom had breast cancer and she was more upset that she might lose her hair than having cancer. I shaved my head so she wouldn't be alone. She ended up having a mastectomy and didn't need chemo and didn't lose her hair. I was the only one bald. Lol.

and I'm completely not invalidating what you're saying because I'm not! You are allowed to feel however you do about yourself and your hair! But just so you know, when I think of HeyThereImShannon and Shannon Taylor, I think of a silly, fun, sassy girl. I don't think of hair at all actually. I used to be a bitchin' athlete (a runner), and then I got really sick and that was all taken away from me. I had put so much of my identity and how saw myself in my athletic abilities that when they were taken away by illness, I felt the same way you do about your hair or lack there of. And I promise you, it gets better. It's taken me 2 years to get to a point where I realize the different between WHO I AM and things that are A PART OF ME. Who i am (and who you are) are not connected to temporary things like hair or pathetic abilities or a certain look or talent. You are you because of what's inside. You are beautiful because of your heart, your intentions, your dreams, your quirks, your personality. It takes time to realize how to separate those things, but I promise you that you will learn and grow and get there! We are all here for you! She knows that people think she looks beautiful with no hair. I think she doesn't mind the "beauty" aspect. It's the fact she "shed her personality" that fucks with her. That's not to say you need to stop telling her she's beautiful because she is. It's just an insanely difficult situation that can't be fixed with "BUT YOU LOOK SO PRETTY"

First of all, you are gorgeous. You pull off the shaved look better than anyone I have seen, and the shape of your head and bone structure are actually VERY flattering with this look! My first thought when I opened the video was how strikingly beautiful you are, and I think you really need to hear that. I know how hard it is to struggle with hair loss, and how much of an impact that can have on your mental health, self esteem, and even your identity as a woman. I was especially attached to my long hair because I had previously lost it after undergoing chemotherapy and having it grow back was like a symbol of my perseverance - to lose it after everything I had gone through felt extremely unfair. I had to reach a certain level of acceptance before the darkness of my depression consumed me, but I still struggle with it every day. I don't think anyone can fully understand the impact a condition like this has on your general quality of life unless they have experienced it themselves, so try not to let the hateful comments get to you, they are only projecting their own insecurities onto you and you are more beautiful than any of them could ever hope to be.
Admittedly this is the first video of yours Ive watched & I can't imagine the struggles that go along with alopecia & I won't pretend to. But I have to say you look REALLY cute with a shaved head! Only a very tiny percentage of women can actually pull the look off- You look like a young Demi Moore! So try not to be so hard on yourself. On the upside you were blessed with a beautifully shaped head & the bone structure to not only pull it off but totally rock it! xx

I lost 80% of my hair this past year due to chemo for a terminal illness. I understand how awful it is. I have kept my hair in this mowhawk,and bleached super white, it helps it look not as noticably thin. I had long beautiful hair all my life. I have found that people actually LOVE my hair more now, and even during the chemo. Like many others have said, I think you look extraordinary gorgeous with your head shaved. You have a STUNNING face, and it is fully featured! Rock it girl! By the way, I also have an autoimmune disease that is terminal, and i know how tough, and painful all the treatments are, and i get 60 botox shots in my skull and face every 90 days for a brain disease too. All of the pain, on top of the physical effects can just wear you down. on those days, tell your friends youre feeling down, and absorb all of the love they have to share with you.
Pia Thanks. I soooooo know how she feels. Bleaching what I do have super white, really hides the patchiness. I am 40 years old in February, so it isn't as mentally hard, as for shannon, being a teenager/young person going through this. I just wish I could hug her!
It's a cliché, and the words are insufficient to express the depth of the sincerity behind them, but you are truly inspirational. I am disabled with a condition which has affected every aspect of my life, and for too long have been feeling destroyed, but your strength is infectious; you have given me the push I needed in sharing that amazing attitude to adversity. NotMostGirls Don't let it destroy your life, I lost literally everything! my job, my husband walked out on me, my entire life savings. BUT..... it weeded out the fake people from my life, and I won't let it beat me down. I look at every small thing, as conquering it. If I am able to get up, and shower....it didn't win that day! You just learn how to do things differently. Just focus on the things you CAN DO. It isn't that you lost things in life....life just CHANGED. You still have a sweet heart, you can and ARE amazing for that! I will pray for you every night, know there is one stranger, who wishes you well, every day!
Not everyone can pull off a shaved head but your head shape complements it. I understand what your saying about wanting your own hair back. When I was in my 20's I lost chunks of my hair due to a medication. Without hesitation I picked up my hair clippers and shaved away. I absolutely loved it but because of worrying about what others would think when out in public I wore wigs. To me wearing the wigs made me feel like I wasn't who I was. I felt fake so I went out one day with no wig. I received so many compliments on how my hair suited my face and vice versa. This was a time period when all the females wore their hair the same way so I was very surprised with all the positivity. I never put a wig back on but my hair eventually grew back. I'm almost 49yrs old and have medical problems and finally realized I couldn't keep up with keeping my hair maintained. As you can see in my profile pic I picked up the clippers again and shaved my head all the way around except the top. My hair doesn't define me as who I am as a person, nor does yours. As a youngster I can understand the need to have your own hair but do it for yourself. As for me, I'll continue to keep my shaved. Best of luck to you angel.

I never comment on videos, but you made me want to change that. I don't have alopecia but I have multiple mental illnesses that I struggle to cope with. As you dislike wearing a wig, I dislike taking multiple medications to strive to be a normal human being. Each time I take a pill it's just "masking" my personality as an introverted, anxious and enervated soul. Also, I'm sorry as fuck for making a comment about myself when this video is about you. You have such an awesome personality and no matter how long it takes you to feel comfortable in front of the camera, everyone of your subscribers want more videos from you and will wait until your ready! Axel Chains I think I feel like you.... when I started to take my medications I kind of felt I lost myself, I became numb and still feel like I'm nobody.... and then on the other side my medications make me sick. as. fuck. Make me want to vomit and give me headaches, just real sick 😕
Sounds like bad side affects. Yuck. Sorry you have to go through that. Sorry for talking out of turn. I went through a bunch of different medications and diagnoses before I got where I am now. Some days are better. Some days are worse. It's far better that I ever thought possible for me though. Keep trying. Never give up. All the crap passes eventually.
I don't have alopecia, but I do relate on some level. I'm Native American and having long virgin hair is something super important in my family. I've dyed my hair a bit lighter but haven't ever REALLY cut it or done what I've wanted with it. I remember cutting 6inches off of my 24in hair in 5th grade and bawling my eyes out for days. I've always been "Cheyenne with the really pretty hair" and it's gotten to a point where my hair = me. I've talked to my therapist about this and I tell her about how I want to do things with my hair but I dont want to touch my hair out of fear of loosing myself. She's suggested that the issue doesn't lie in my hair, but rather the identity that I've put into it. Shes worked with me on starting to realize that the things on my outside are not the things that make me, me. And its a really odd concept because I've always been the type of person to be like "fuck what everyone thinks, I am what's on my inside" and I believe that. But to myself, I'm what's on my outside. It's not an issue with how others view me, but rather where I place my own identity. I guess what I'm trying to say is, do what makes you happy, grow your hair out if you feel happier and better. But the things on your outside shouldn't "make you yourself." And this sounds really pointed and mom-like, but I'm saying it more to myself that to you. Do the things you want, but don't rely on those things to make you you. And this isn't to say don't do the things that express you, but rather know who you are with or without them.
Cheyenne i have had the same problem in the past. for obviously being 'jasmine with the colored hair'. I've been able to overcome that fortunetly and now go back and forth to my original brown hair and colored hair. glad to know someone else gets it! 😄❤❤❤❤❤
Cheyenne I am half Cherokee, but my mother is the Indian. My father is a Greek. When my parents got divorced, they didn't talk much. Two years ago, my dad asked if I wanted a pixie cut. I had no fucking clue what a pixie cut was, so I said yes. I went home to my mom bawling. She was pissed. So, I have been growing my hair for 2 years and it hasn't grown out to the point it was (Chest length).
Why not grow a mohawk? I mean, I've had one for years as an expression of my love of punk and my Native culture. You have thick hair in the center and you could just shave the sides. I think you'd rock it and who knows? it could be something that makes you feel more comfortable. Maybe it will make your Alopecia more of a badass part of your hairstyle rather than something you're trying to hide. Punk culture has always been about expressing yourself and being proud of the scars that make you YOU, after all. Plus, you could use the sides as artistic templates for colors or prints or just random designs you want. I had leopard print on the sides for a while that I added by airbrush makeup and stencils. lol I don't know, just trying to suggest something that might make you feel awesome. I have trichotillomania. It's gotten so bad to the point 75% of my hair is gone now. I'm trying to build the courage to just shave my head but this encouraged me more.
I got a Black synthetic ladys wig for 4$ a long time back at some weird website. Im a guy. Being bald by 26 is like walking around everywhere and ur wieners hanging out ur fly

I showed a guy friend of mine Brad Mondo's video where he talked about 'man weaves'; There's a clip in his video of a white guy who got a longer, lace front style toupee (basically like a women's lace front closure), the stylist glued it down and then styled it into a really natural looking high and tight style cut. My friend is super self conscious because he lost all the hair on the top of his head really young, so he keeps the hair in the back really long and he combs it all forward and wears a beanie.. He's done this every day for years, he's even had girlfriends who have never seen him without a beanie on.. After I showed him the video we imediately started looking online at prices and salons, now he's got an upcoming consultation with a stylist.. There are so many really natural looking options for guys now, many of which are very affordable.. I just think the process is really cool, and so versatile.. I have trichotillomania and I find myself pulling out my eyelashes and hair on my other parts of my body but it has gotten so much better with age and being preoccupied in life.

Hun,you are so young. I live with bald spots because I have an autoimmune disease called left side colitis. I shave my head or buzz it real short when it does come in. My hair grows uneven and my head looks lopsided.lolYou should not be upset or feel like you are lost. I can understand your pain,especially since you are 19. You are beautiful hun. You would be surprised how manny people don't really notice or care what your hair looks like. More and more women are shaving there hair or going super short. Please realize,no one hates you because you don't have hair. Smile girl... Your smile makes all the difference. The prettiest girls have beautiful smiles,make up on point and dress with confidence. The point is what she thinks, hair is a big part of her life, and she wants it back. She doesnt care if people think she looks good bald, she doesnt care if people like her with hair more, this is all what she wants.
Hi, I'm sorry if you've heard this a bunch of times already but have you ever tried not eating gluten? I have alopecia areata that suddenly appeared when I was about 25 and none of treatments worked until I spoke with a functional medicine doctor and he explained that most autoimmune diseases are rooted in our inability to properly digest foods because of missing microflora in the gut. He recommended I stop eating gluten and grains in general and it was the first thing that ever helped me. The only time it's ever come back is when I started eating soya sauce (gluten) or accidentally had smth else that I assumed was gluten free. After a really strict diet I went back to eating grains again and now am basically just gluten free and it hasn't come back. I'm not saying it will work for everyone but it's definitely worth a shot. Ksenia Smirnova I have to say that I'm happy that you wrote this. My husband has crohns (he almost died while being on the meds) and I also have alopecia. We both have changed our diets to eating ketogenically. He is and has been off the meds for over ten years and has been reversing the disease through proper nutrition, vitamins, enzymes and probiotics. As for me, I do well as long as I stay on track. If I "cheat" then I end up losing hair. Also noteworthy is that I've noticed if I eat any foods that are sugar spiking like grains, potatoes and so on, then the hair falls out. There is a great online radio show that we listen to that has helped us immensely. www.benfuchs.com

Shannon you're probably the only person who is staring at your head. This whole video I've been looking at your eyes like I do with someone I see on the street. You also rock a bald head, you look as beautiful as ever. I know people saying nice things to you won't change how you feel inside but everybody is here for you. ✖ArcticKitty19✖ Same. I used to have this beautiful, long waist-length black hair. I had the prettiest hair in the entire school or something, I don't know. I never really liked it, and it had been the same style my entire life, so I cut it into a short pixie cut. For a month or two, I really liked it, but now I hate it, and I'm growing it out, but it's growing much slower than I anticipated. My hair grew to be past my waist in two fucking years, that means eight or nine inches per year, and it's been six months and it's not even to my shoulders. I hate it. I keep remembering what it was like to put my hair up, or have my sister braid it, or just feel it on my shoulders and back. I like short hair, but I want my hair to reach my shoulders. I know this is nothing compared to what Shannon is going through, I almost feel stupid posting this comment on this video.
Kitty Kat Sounds like getting exstensions would be good idea for you they can clip in, tape or glue them in if you go to a professional salon it's really pricey but it's worth it for some people or you can buy some online like here's some known brands hairextensionmagazine.com Also Vpfashion is a good quality brand and you can just clip them in and they'll stay and you can take them off at the end of the day. Sandipaws I had a friend growing up who had it as well. She is one of the strongest people I've ever known, and she rocks the bald look and her wigs like a queen :) she is a brave woman.

Cece Lian I agree with Stephanie; the last thing someone who feels this way wants to hear is DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY. that's fucking ignorant and naive and clearly you haven't felt anywhere close to this level of depression or hopelessness. don't say shallow stupid things when you know nothing about the situation. I have severe clinical depression, which has destroyed my life in many ways. it's not something I can control. I've been on medication and in therapy my whole life, but sometimes that's not even enough. it's a chemical imbalance that NO ONE understands unless they have it. go frolick about with your rose colored glasses and keep your "advise" to yourself. it doesn't help.
Shannon...you are stunningly beautiful with a shaved head. You just don't know it yet. I know that one day you'll own and love who you are whether you choose to wear a wig, shave or buzz your head, or just let it be. It's your choice! I've been shaving/buzzing my head for about 15 years now. I had major brain surgery to remove a large tumor 2 and a half years ago. The surgeon joked with me that I'd done his work for him and we had a good laugh. I've been left with a deep scar near the left side of my head that goes from my mid-forehead back across my head then in front of my left ear and 2 noticeable screws under my left eyebrow. I couldn't shave or buzz it until it fully healed and it was hidden by the hair that grew back. As soon as it healed I was back to my shaved or buzzed head. The scar is even more noticeable, but I have chosen to rock it and show the world I'm a survivor! And now the meds I have to take forever are knocking my hair off really hard and fast! I have about 75% of my hair gone by this point, but these combo of meds are the only ones that work so I don't have a choice but to take them. I could stop taking these meds and let my hair grow back eventually but the risks aren't worth it for me. I've chosen to accept this and I most likely will end up totally bald. The areas where I hardly have hair are quite noticeable now. I'm a lot older than you are and am getting to an age where having hair would be preferable. But I'd rather have a good quality of life with these meds than zero quality of life without them. That's my personal choice. I still have had serious relationships and I still get asked out on dates. When strangers stare at me I just smile at them or wave hello. If I get a rude comment, I blow them a kiss and smile. What it comes down to is whether I care what people think about me or whether they like the way I look. I've realized that I don't. And it's freed me and allowed me to be a genuine, compassionate woman. Ultimately you need to decide what makes you most free and comfortable with yourself! But from my view of this video, you are gorgeous without hair! And the only thing I focused on was your amazing eyes and your genuine personality. You have a lifetime to become comfortable with yourself and everything you are feeling is normal! I love my buzz cut but when I realized my hair was falling out and got it checked, then told it was the meds, I still freaked out! But I made the best choice for my health. I have complete faith in you! You're smart, beautiful and a lovely young lady! You're all these things with or without hair! 🤗👍🏻😘👊🏻🌼🌸🌺🍀🌞💫✨⚡️❤️💖💞 FYI. I also suffer from Bipolar II Disorder...so I know exactly what you go through.

I can relate. I don’t have alopecia, but I suffer from Trichotillomania and wear wigs because my case is very severe. My family wants me to shave my head and stop wearing wigs because they feel like my wig makes me “less authentic” but honestly, even though I don’t feel like myself when I wear a wig, I don’t believe that shaving my head would make me feel any better about myself or feel more authentic. I wasn’t born bald and before I had my condition, I had very long hair that would receive a ton of compliments from people. Like you have stated, I would only feel like myself if I had long hair that grew out of my own head. I think I’d only shave my head to please my family but that’s about it. Hey! ive suffered from alopecia since i was 2, i am not 16 and i have been through totalis and areata, my hair was growing back, but now its falling out again. Its so damn hard everyday because I feel as if everywhere i go, i am judged. Its so hard to find others with this condition and i am so happy ive found you. Whenever I talk to people they look at my hairline and not my eyes. I hate having alopecia but I just have to deal with it
Take your power back! You didn't choose it, your condition chose you. I lose my hair because of a chronic illness so I have to keep it very short. The first time, I was upset because I felt forced into it- like my body was victimizing me yet again. Then I realized this was at least one way I could claim power back, choose to love my super short hair, rock it, make it my own! Yours looks absolutely stunning on you. You look like a rock star! I am the same. I was always known for having thick waist long hair my entire life. Since being diagnosed with a rare extremely painful disease (Dercum's disease), on top of other health issues, my hair has been falling out in chunks. It is so thin that I have to use a hair powder to make my scalp not as noticeable when out in public. I use Cabooki. My hair is now only about 1/5 to1/6 the thickness it used to be and being so ill it has been too hard to maintain, so I just chopped it off. It still grows fast, which it has always done, so I have chopped it off on my own a few times in the last few years. I am just seeing absolutely no new growth on my scalp, thickness-wise. This young woman is so stunning with her head shaved, but I understand how hard that must be. I have considered wigs, but have resisted because of the same things she mentioned. I think she is in a state of grief. Hopefully as she does what is best for herself she can heal inside. (HUGS) to you, fellow spoonie. ❤️
Honestly, you look beautiful with a shaved head. You have a great head shape and a beautiful face. You should look in the mirror more often because you're a lot prettier and feminine than most girls I've seen with long hair!
Girl im with you i have alopeecia too i am completley bald and i wear 1 wig i know its hard my mom shaved my head and it got worse and worse till i got bald and then i lost my eyebrows and my lashes and it broke my heart but i deal with it till i get hope and i hope u get it first because it looks like you really need it ❤️❤️😘
When I was 11 they said I would be the first one in the uk to have injections into my head but I wasn't going to do that. But I might go back to the doctors because it was getting better but atm it's going down hill

I suffer from alopecia too.. it’s a new thing I just found out in March 2020... and I just shaved my head bald (end of June) I don’t regret it at all! I had huge bald spots on the back of my head. If I wore my hair in a ponytail no one could even tell. BUT now that I’m bald I actually love it ! Wigs are soooo much easier to wear!! AND seeing all the hair falling out was way more devastating for me then shaving my head... I HATED having the hair move through my fingers! 😖 it actually caused me severe depression and anxiety. so I did it. And omg it was liberating and now I love rubbing my head lol! My depression is gone because I feel like I now have a new start. ✨ but I am single so I worry about never finding someone. . You actually realize who really cares for you with a shaved head.. 😌 but I’m using this year to focus on my health and my mental health... plus wigs are so affordable and good now a days! It’s actually very trendy to wear wigs! 🥰
Don't listen to people saying your like trisha, this is your channel, your nothing like her. Your your own person. Keep your head up and focus on positivity and ignore and don't even read hate comments or negative ones. Focus on you and your music ;). I'm left feeling "What is the point in even being alive?" more times than not. ... Alone in my dressing room; wishing to not be alive anymore. Eleven months ago.... You sat there feeling so uncomfortable telling a story about your life. And here I am today telling you thank you. As you said, you are human. And let me tell you this, you are a human being who knows how to use the brain in their skull! I don't even know where to start, or actually how to even put into words how watching this has helped me. Just recently I said out loud to my true Bff "I don't know who I am anymore." ...I know who I am. But it's so hard to explain feeling so very lost in your own life. I believe you were struggling so much because you KNEW who you were for 19 years, and then life threw you a curve ball and questioned you; in turn left you questioning yourself! I am here, currently. *sigh ... This is the first video I watched of yours. Your video was a recommended video. Why? Only reason I can gather is the universe placed it there for me to grow. I have alopacia, and I was "lucky" enough to have my hair grow back. It's been four years and my hair is grown half way to my normal hair. I recently cut my hair to my shoulder length. When I first started loosing my hair, (on the back of my head, on the front of my head, and in little patches all over--I was 8) the doctors said that if it didn't grow back in 3 months on the medication I was on, I would have to get shots. It started to get worse and more hair was being lost. I was so scared to get the shots for each month. I kept on using a special shampoo and massaging my scalp and after the 2 1/2 months, it started to grow. I am technically so self conscious and the alopacia made me even more self conscious. I was bullied for it, and called "old man" and laughed at. There's more hate that I got once I started middle school 1 year ago. (I'm in 7th) Now after the 4 years, I am happy to say that it is now half way. Before, I kept on making up hairstyles to cover my bald spots. Now, like I said before, I cut my hair shoulder length (I've never cut my hair that short) I have more confidence (a little bit) and I am not so stressed as I have a stressing out problem. The support from my family and friends made me happier. Also, knowing that I'm not alone, makes me feel better. ❤❤

Shannon, your hair is not central to your identity, or anything else in the flesh. Even if most of your videos are hair and beauty tutorials it is not even central to "heythereimshannon." After this video I watched the video of you shaving your head. You did right by yourself. I'm sorry the alopecia caused you all this pain, and that the medications did not work for you. It's terrible and something you have no control over. But this did not cost you your identity. You don't need hair to be beautiful and you don't have to hide behind wigs. You are still beautiful, and you are still Shannon. Being bald is okay. No one changes the world by having "bitching hair" anyway. Don't beat yourself up over this. I urge you to make more videos about coping with alopecia and your recovery to raise awareness about the illness, if you are comfortable with that. I think you could be a great model for people with alopecia, tricholtillomania, etc. Judging by some of the comments I've read, you are already.

I understand your struggle (well, as much as I can without being in your shoes), and I hope you can come to a place of acceptance and self love. I would imagine 99% of women struggle with self acceptance over some part of their body, so your story will resonate with many of us.

I figured since as she said herself her hair on top it luckily pretty full but her sides are bugging her she should just leave the top and shave the sides instead of shaving all or growing everything out :)
I was about to say the same. You look AMAZING. You have a very feminine face and your make-up is on the point, that super fits with a buzz cut imho. But it is your life, so whatever you decide, go for it! You are beautiful, with or without hair, but you have to OWN it! Beauty doesn't come from the outside. I really don't care, do you have hair or nope. coz you are cool in any appearance. when you are outside wearing wig - no one recognizes that you are wearing it or having bold head too, only when someone hates you, will be laughing, making shame for you, to hurt you. I'll be honest I love bold people with tattoos on the scalp.
i have alopecia areata as well. wasn't born with it, but it just showed up after a stressful period in my life.. my hair grew back but now it's falling out again. its fcking frustrating. i feel u girl.
Celina Liya sometimes it falls out and grows back.i had first patch 2014 then one year nothing all grew out and last year i had two smaller ones. just take it year at a time it ia okay to have bad periods but most possibly it will grow back when your immune system stabilises :) much love xxxx
Idk if anyone has already done this before, but here's my idea; Cut out pieces of paper and write every makeup supply you have; e.g. Eyeliner, mascara, foundation; ON TWO PIECES and separate them so that you have a bowl/pile that matches the other one (if that makes sense). One section is the product your going to use and the next is what your going to use it as! E. g. Use *highlighter* as *lipstick* Just an idea!

I have dreads and in march 2019 will make 2years :) I googled shaved head because I was sitting in my front yard looking around and just thinking absorbing all what mother nature has to offer me on this beautiful morning and I realized I want to shed my old ways and start fresh! I will be shaving my head because I want to because I am that caterpillar that has yet to resurrect. I already all my life been ridiculed and I'm 33yrs old today and feel most ashamed about how I allow OTHERS into my head space and the hurtful comments I've heard from others into my heart! Wow how you didn't cry in that amazingly honest video idk rock on to you. I had to shave my head (this the Kerri part of Mary ann and Kerri) I have numerous issues one being a continuous migraine that cause my hair if it's tugged laying on a pillow having a hat on which I have to wear now because my body refuses to regulate its own temp. Everyone I love was so supportive and I made it a joke so no one knew how much I am dying inside every time I do it. It has nothing to do with what I look like the people I surround myself with love hair no hair but each time I shave my head it's as if I am handing another part of me to the disease/illness that has revenged my life to the point where I can't eat food I can't stay in sunlight without extreme pain even with a hat and sunglasses. I cannot handle having hair the nerve pain is so intense but again it's one more thing I can't have I can't do and it hurts the first time I did it I honestly thought it would change my life and it would feel so good not to have that constant pain (I got Botox injections in my head 5 times I quit it was agony also six inch needles inserted up close to my skull and have steroids injected and lidocaine and nerve numbing shots no one gets needles full of poisons because they want to). I hate the comments of you look like your post chemo or I've been asked is if it's because I have cancer no but shaving my head is just as painful because it provides pain relief and it takes away a part of who I am each time. My life is my cats sleeping to escape the pain watching RUclips because I no longer can watch tv without suffering consequences and I listen to audiobooks eyes covered in my room fighting pain and emotions. Anyways not sure why you popped up as a suggested video but I'm glad I watched again not the same reasons for shaving my head but so much of the same feelings

Due to trichotillomania AND alopecia since age of 4 I have not had normal hair since. I wear a wig the way people with no teeth wear dentures. It appears this beautiful young lady is still in her first rodeo, she is not used to her new hair reality yet, but that feeling is temporary. Right now, these videos help other people who feel alone with their afflictions with hair, feel encouraged. Its a good thing, & I hope she continues with sharing her video logs of her journey. Wigs help me blend in and interact without distraction with "normal" people out in public. I can't hide from my hair loss, but I can hide it from those not in my friend circle. Wigs have made it possible to have jobs where people pay attention to the work that is done & not the person doing it. I can go outside without sunburning my scalp. I wear styles that most (if not all) who don't know me, think is my real hair. Noticeable means your not fitted or styled properly. (how many women do we all notice who wear ill fitting bras, how many poor people we see suffering to talk or eat because they wear ill fitting dentures if they are lucky to wear any at all? Or the vain wearing a wig like its some kind of hairy hat?) I have found that most folks, after staring a bit, asking a few questions and getting an assurance that what you have is not contagious, just don't give a shit if you sport a bald, patchy bald, buzzed, or wigged head. They DO pay attention to what you do and your attitude. If your patchy scalp is crimping your style, get a wig. If wigs wig you out, sport a shave. But what ever you do, do it with a positive attitude and get on with the rest life. I know my hair is not growing in tomorrow nor the next, nor is my friends head who because of burn scarring will never grow hair again.So we both get on with the next thing, ya know?

K. Charrette well I always thought I'd look terrible with bags but turns out they make me look way cuter. I also thought I'd look like a big baby if I shaved my head but my best friend was convicted it would look better then the hair I had at the time and I shaved it off and she said I looked like a fairly or goddess.

One of my former classmates was super pretty when she buzzed her hair and she has a long face and a big curved nose. It took the hair out of her face and showed her eyes off more. I think that long hair actually extends long faces and makes them seem longer. maybe you should try a bob cut ? those are cute and a good first step

I sincerely want to say that you truly are beautiful with no hair. you have the most perfect facial bone structure for it, ive also considered shaving my head due to severe psoriasis. Your cheekbones and chin are perfect, you have a beautiful profile. I have extremely thin hair and makes me feel super uncomfortable. When I wear my natural hair by itself, I always wear extensions to make it thicker. I'm always self conscious that you will be able to see them in my hair. I started wearing wigs and it makes me feel even more uncomfortable no matter how natural they look.
hi! my sister and brother also have alopecia, they got better with aloe vera plant. They will cut it then take the gel out and rub it on the patches. They also taking vitamin E. Now they are ok. I hope you give it a try. Stress is also causing it.
Sometimes it is difficult to face problems. It does not matter whether you lived with it your whole life or not, when you never faced it. I assume that you simply took it as it is and never thought about "how it could be", and now you are upset because you dared to think about it... Well there is a word for it and it is called hope. Now we all know that hope is a knife which cuts both ways. It can make you truly happy but really upset as well. I can only assume that somewhere deep down you were unhappy, and now you really had hope and it did not work out... all of a sudden you have to face "all of your frustration" in a storm and that simply overwhelmed you. Now you've got 2 choices. You neither really start to love yourself just the way you are, or you keep trying and take medication and keep on hoping. I personally think your condition made you to the person you are. I think it makes you special and unique. Have you tried to adopt to it? To make it to something special? Don't define yourself over hair. You are beautiful. You ve got a great personality and people love you. Not for your hair, but because of you. :D hugs

Mine has been falling out in past few months but I looks back and think how I have been feeling, thinking living for past five honeslty my entire life and I feel my body has been screaming at me. I was just trying to get through the day. All the stress feeling u worthy to even exist and get help now I have to deal with the consequences. Has brought up so much anger, sorrow, helplessness. Is like what choices do I have now? Feel it's been a process. Layers of an onion. I can lock myself up like I feel I have been doing wasting life away like as if I can go back in time and start over or accept what is do as u suggest this all had made me into the person I am and hope that it will benefit me and it will grow again or just accept as is vs fight it which just causes low stress. Takes away any energy I have can't even think straight making me feel insane and helpless. So much more to say so will stop and just say thank u.

You might never see this under the thousands of comments but I shave my head. Not for medical reasons. I shave my head to make it normal for girls to be bald. because in my head I feel like if someone who HAS to shave their head sees someone who is shaved just for being shaved they wont feel alone. My mom had breast cancer and she was more upset that she might lose her hair than having cancer. I shaved my head so she wouldn't be alone. She ended up having a mastectomy and didn't need chemo and didn't lose her hair. I was the only one bald. Lol.

But just so you know, when I think of HeyThereImShannon and Shannon Taylor, I think of a silly, fun, sassy girl. I don't think of hair at all actually. I used to be a bitchin' athlete (a runner), and then I got really sick and that was all taken away from me. I had put so much of my identity and how saw myself in my athletic abilities that when they were taken away by illness, I felt the same way you do about your hair or lack there of. And I promise you, it gets better. It's taken me 2 years to get to a point where I realize the different between WHO I AM and things that are A PART OF ME. Who i am (and who you are) are not connected to temporary things like hair or pathetic abilities or a certain look or talent. You are you because of what's inside. You are beautiful because of your heart, your intentions, your dreams, your quirks, your personality. It takes time to realize how to separate those things, but I promise you that you will learn and grow and get there! We are all here for you! That's not to say you need to stop telling her she's beautiful because she is. It's just an insanely difficult situation that can't be fixed with "BUT YOU LOOK SO PRETTY"

First of all, you are gorgeous. You pull off the shaved look better than anyone I have seen, and the shape of your head and bone structure are actually VERY flattering with this look! My first thought when I opened the video was how strikingly beautiful you are, and I think you really need to hear that.
I know how hard it is to struggle with hair loss, and how much of an impact that can have on your mental health, self esteem, and even your identity as a woman. I was especially attached to my long hair because I had previously lost it after undergoing chemotherapy and having it grow back was like a symbol of my perseverance - to lose it after everything I had gone through felt extremely unfair. I had to reach a certain level of acceptance before the darkness of my depression consumed me, but I still struggle with it every day.
I don't think anyone can fully understand the impact a condition like this has on your general quality of life unless they have experienced it themselves, so try not to let the hateful comments get to you, they are only projecting their own insecurities onto you and you are more beautiful than any of them could ever hope to be.

I lost 80% of my hair this past year due to chemo for a terminal illness. I understand how awful it is. I have kept my hair in this mowhawk,and bleached super white, it helps it look not as noticably thin. I had long beautiful hair all my life. I have found that people actually LOVE my hair more now, and even during the chemo.
Like many others have said, I think you look extraordinary gorgeous with your head shaved. You have a STUNNING face, and it is fully featured! Rock it girl!
By the way, I also have an autoimmune disease that is terminal, and i know how tough, and painful all the treatments are, and i get 60 botox shots in my skull and face every 90 days for a brain disease too. All of the pain, on top of the physical effects can just wear you down. on those days, tell your friends youre feeling down, and absorb all of the love they have to share with you.

Not everyone can pull off a shaved head but your head shape complements it. I understand what your saying about wanting your own hair back. When I was in my 20's I lost chunks of my hair due to a medication. Without hesitation I picked up my hair clippers and shaved away. I absolutely loved it but because of worrying about what others would think when out in public I wore wigs. To me wearing the wigs made me feel like I wasn't who I was. I felt fake so I went out one day with no wig. I received so many compliments on how my hair suited my face and vice versa. This was a time period when all the females wore their hair the same way so I was very surprised with all the positivity. I never put a wig back on but my hair eventually grew back. I'm almost 49yrs old and have medical problems and finally realized I couldn't keep up with keeping my hair maintained. As you can see in my profile pic I picked up the clippers again and shaved my head all the way around except the top. My hair doesn't define me as who I am as a person, nor does yours. As a youngster I can understand the need to have your own hair but do it for yourself. As for me, I'll continue to keep my shaved. Best of luck to you angel.

I never comment on videos, but you made me want to change that. I don't have alopecia but I have multiple mental illnesses that I struggle to cope with. As you dislike wearing a wig, I dislike taking multiple medications to strive to be a normal human being. Each time I take a pill it's just "masking" my personality as an introverted, anxious and enervated soul. Also, I'm sorry as fuck for making a comment about myself when this video is about you. You have such an awesome personality and no matter how long it takes you to feel comfortable in front of the camera, everyone of your subscribers want more videos from you and will wait until your ready!

Sounds like bad side affects. Yuck. Sorry you have to go through that. Sorry for talking out of turn. I went through a bunch of different medications and diagnoses before I got where I am now. Some days are better. Some days are worse. It's far better that I ever thought possible for me though. Keep trying. Never give up. All the crap passes eventually.
I don't have alopecia, but I do relate on some level. I'm Native American and having long virgin hair is something super important in my family. I've dyed my hair a bit lighter but haven't ever REALLY cut it or done what I've wanted with it. I remember cutting 6inches off of my 24in hair in 5th grade and bawling my eyes out for days.
I've always been "Cheyenne with the really pretty hair" and it's gotten to a point where my hair = me. I've talked to my therapist about this and I tell her about how I want to do things with my hair but I dont want to touch my hair out of fear of loosing myself. She's suggested that the issue doesn't lie in my hair, but rather the identity that I've put into it. Shes worked with me on starting to realize that the things on my outside are not the things that make me, me. And its a really odd concept because I've always been the type of person to be like "fuck what everyone thinks, I am what's on my inside" and I believe that. But to myself, I'm what's on my outside. It's not an issue with how others view me, but rather where I place my own identity.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, do what makes you happy, grow your hair out if you feel happier and better. But the things on your outside shouldn't "make you yourself." And this sounds really pointed and mom-like, but I'm saying it more to myself that to you. Do the things you want, but don't rely on those things to make you you. And this isn't to say don't do the things that express you, but rather know who you are with or without them.
Cheyenne i have had the same problem in the past. for obviously being 'jasmine with the colored hair'. I've been able to overcome that fortunetly and now go back and forth to my original brown hair and colored hair. glad to know someone else gets it! 😄❤❤❤❤❤
Cheyenne I am half Cherokee, but my mother is the Indian. My father is a Greek. When my parents got divorced, they didn't talk much. Two years ago, my dad asked if I wanted a pixie cut. I had no fucking clue what a pixie cut was, so I said yes. I went home to my mom bawling. She was pissed. So, I have been growing my hair for 2 years and it hasn't grown out to the point it was (Chest length).

Why not grow a mohawk? I mean, I've had one for years as an expression of my love of punk and my Native culture. You have thick hair in the center and you could just shave the sides. I think you'd rock it and who knows? it could be something that makes you feel more comfortable. Maybe it will make your Alopecia more of a badass part of your hairstyle rather than something you're trying to hide. Punk culture has always been about expressing yourself and being proud of the scars that make you YOU, after all.
Plus, you could use the sides as artistic templates for colors or prints or just random designs you want. I had leopard print on the sides for a while that I added by airbrush makeup and stencils. lol I don't know, just trying to suggest something that might make you feel awesome.

I showed a guy friend of mine Brad Mondo's video where he talked about 'man weaves'; There's a clip in his video of a white guy who got a longer, lace front style toupee (basically like a women's lace front closure), the stylist glued it down and then styled it into a really natural looking high and tight style cut. My friend is super self conscious because he lost all the hair on the top of his head really young, so he keeps the hair in the back really long and he combs it all forward and wears a beanie.. He's done this every day for years, he's even had girlfriends who have never seen him without a beanie on..
After I showed him the video we imediately started looking online at prices and salons, now he's got an upcoming consultation with a stylist.. There are so many really natural looking options for guys now, many of which are very affordable.. I just think the process is really cool, and so versatile.. Hun,you are so young. I live with bald spots because I have an autoimmune disease called left side colitis. I shave my head or buzz it real short when it does come in. My hair grows uneven and my head looks lopsided.lolYou should not be upset or feel like you are lost. I can understand your pain,especially since you are 19. You are beautiful hun. You would be surprised how manny people don't really notice or care what your hair looks like. More and more women are shaving there hair or going super short. Hi, I'm sorry if you've heard this a bunch of times already but have you ever tried not eating gluten? I have alopecia areata that suddenly appeared when I was about 25 and none of treatments worked until I spoke with a functional medicine doctor and he explained that most autoimmune diseases are rooted in our inability to properly digest foods because of missing microflora in the gut. He recommended I stop eating gluten and grains in general and it was the first thing that ever helped me. The only time it's ever come back is when I started eating soya sauce (gluten) or accidentally had smth else that I assumed was gluten free. After a really strict diet I went back to eating grains again and now am basically just gluten free and it hasn't come back. I'm not saying it will work for everyone but it's definitely worth a shot. Ksenia Smirnova I have to say that I'm happy that you wrote this. My husband has crohns (he almost died while being on the meds) and I also have alopecia. We both have changed our diets to eating ketogenically. He is and has been off the meds for over ten years and has been reversing the disease through proper nutrition, vitamins, enzymes and probiotics. As for me, I do well as long as I stay on track. If I "cheat" then I end up losing hair. Also noteworthy is that I've noticed if I eat any foods that are sugar spiking like grains, potatoes and so on, then the hair falls out. I never really liked it, and it had been the same style my entire life, so I cut it into a short pixie cut. For a month or two, I really liked it, but now I hate it, and I'm growing it out, but it's growing much slower than I anticipated. My hair grew to be past my waist in two fucking years, that means eight or nine inches per year, and it's been six months and it's not even to my shoulders. I hate it. I keep remembering what it was like to put my hair up, or have my sister braid it, or just feel it on my shoulders and back. I like short hair, but I want my hair to reach my shoulders. I know this is nothing compared to what Shannon is going through, I almost feel stupid posting this comment on this video.

I've been shaving/buzzing my head for about 15 years now. I had major brain surgery to remove a large tumor 2 and a half years ago. The surgeon joked with me that I'd done his work for him and we had a good laugh. I've been left with a deep scar near the left side of my head that goes from my mid-forehead back across my head then in front of my left ear and 2 noticeable screws under my left eyebrow.
I couldn't shave or buzz it until it fully healed and it was hidden by the hair that grew back. As soon as it healed I was back to my shaved or buzzed head. The scar is even more noticeable, but I have chosen to rock it and show the world I'm a survivor! And now the meds I have to take forever are knocking my hair off really hard and fast! I have about 75% of my hair gone by this point, but these combo of meds are the only ones that work so I don't have a choice but to take them. I could stop taking these meds and let my hair grow back eventually but the risks aren't worth it for me.
I've chosen to accept this and I most likely will end up totally bald. The areas where I hardly have hair are quite noticeable now. I'm a lot older than you are and am getting to an age where having hair would be preferable. But I'd rather have a good quality of life with these meds than zero quality of life without them. That's my personal choice.
I still have had serious relationships and I still get asked out on dates. When strangers stare at me I just smile at them or wave hello. If I get a rude comment, I blow them a kiss and smile. What it comes down to is whether I care what people think about me or whether they like the way I look. I've realized that I don't. And it's freed me and allowed me to be a genuine, compassionate woman.
Ultimately you need to decide what makes you most free and comfortable with yourself! But from my view of this video, you are gorgeous without hair! And the only thing I focused on was your amazing eyes and your genuine personality. You have a lifetime to become comfortable with yourself and everything you are feeling is normal! I love my buzz cut but when I realized my hair was falling out and got it checked, then told it was the meds, I still freaked out! But I made the best choice for my health. I have complete faith in you! You're smart, beautiful and a lovely young lady! You're all these things with or without hair! 🤗👍🏻😘👊🏻🌼🌸🌺🍀🌞💫✨⚡️❤️💖💞

I can relate. I don’t have alopecia, but I suffer from Trichotillomania and wear wigs because my case is very severe. My family wants me to shave my head and stop wearing wigs because they feel like my wig makes me “less authentic” but honestly, even though I don’t feel like myself when I wear a wig, I don’t believe that shaving my head would make me feel any better about myself or feel more authentic. I wasn’t born bald and before I had my condition, I had very long hair that would receive a ton of compliments from people. Like you have stated, I would only feel like myself if I had long hair that grew out of my own head. I think I’d only shave my head to please my family but that’s about it. The first time, I was upset because I felt forced into it- like my body was victimizing me yet again. I am the same. I was always known for having thick waist long hair my entire life. Since being diagnosed with a rare extremely painful disease (Dercum's disease), on top of other health issues, my hair has been falling out in chunks. It is so thin that I have to use a hair powder to make my scalp not as noticeable when out in public. I use Cabooki. My hair is now only about 1/5 to1/6 the thickness it used to be and being so ill it has been too hard to maintain, so I just chopped it off. It still grows fast, which it has always done, so I have chopped it off on my own a few times in the last few years. I am just seeing absolutely no new growth on my scalp, thickness-wise. This young woman is so stunning with her head shaved, but I understand how hard that must be. I have considered wigs, but have resisted because of the same things she mentioned. I think she is in a state of grief. Hopefully as she does what is best for herself she can heal inside. (HUGS) to you, fellow spoonie. ❤️

I suffer from alopecia too.. it’s a new thing I just found out in March 2020... and I just shaved my head bald (end of June) I don’t regret it at all! I had huge bald spots on the back of my head. If I wore my hair in a ponytail no one could even tell. BUT now that I’m bald I actually love it ! Wigs are soooo much easier to wear!! AND seeing all the hair falling out was way more devastating for me then shaving my head... I HATED having the hair move through my fingers! 😖 it actually caused me severe depression and anxiety. so I did it. And omg it was liberating and now I love rubbing my head lol! My depression is gone because I feel like I now have a new start. ✨ but I am single so I worry about never finding someone. . You actually realize who really cares for you with a shaved head.. 😌 but I’m using this year to focus on my health and my mental health... plus wigs are so affordable and good now a days! It’s actually very trendy to wear wigs! 🥰

I don't even know where to start, or actually how to even put into words how watching this has helped me. Just recently I said out loud to my true Bff "I don't know who I am anymore." ...I know who I am. But it's so hard to explain feeling so very lost in your own life. I believe you were struggling so much because you KNEW who you were for 19 years, and then life threw you a curve ball and questioned you; in turn left you questioning yourself! I am here, currently. *sigh ... This is the first video I watched of yours. Your video was a recommended video. Why? Only reason I can gather is the universe placed it there for me to grow. I have alopacia, and I was "lucky" enough to have my hair grow back. It's been four years and my hair is grown half way to my normal hair. I recently cut my hair to my shoulder length. When I first started loosing my hair, (on the back of my head, on the front of my head, and in little patches all over--I was 8) the doctors said that if it didn't grow back in 3 months on the medication I was on, I would have to get shots. It started to get worse and more hair was being lost. I was so scared to get the shots for each month. I kept on using a special shampoo and massaging my scalp and after the 2 1/2 months, it started to grow. I am technically so self conscious and the alopacia made me even more self conscious. I was bullied for it, and called "old man" and laughed at. There's more hate that I got once I started middle school 1 year ago. (I'm in 7th) Now after the 4 years, I am happy to say that it is now half way. Before, I kept on making up hairstyles to cover my bald spots. Now, like I said before, I cut my hair shoulder length (I've never cut my hair that short) I have more confidence (a little bit) and I am not so stressed as I have a stressing out problem. The support from my family and friends made me happier. Also, knowing that I'm not alone, makes me feel better. ❤❤

Shannon, your hair is not central to your identity, or anything else in the flesh. Even if most of your videos are hair and beauty tutorials it is not even central to "heythereimshannon." After this video I watched the video of you shaving your head. You did right by yourself. I'm sorry the alopecia caused you all this pain, and that the medications did not work for you. It's terrible and something you have no control over. But this did not cost you your identity. You don't need hair to be beautiful and you don't have to hide behind wigs. You are still beautiful, and you are still Shannon. Being bald is okay. No one changes the world by having "bitching hair" anyway. Don't beat yourself up over this. I urge you to make more videos about coping with alopecia and your recovery to raise awareness about the illness, if you are comfortable with that. I think you could be a great model for people with alopecia, tricholtillomania, etc. Judging by some of the comments I've read, you are already.

Idk if anyone has already done this before, but here's my idea;
Cut out pieces of paper and write every makeup supply you have; e.g. Eyeliner, mascara, foundation; ON TWO PIECES and separate them so that you have a bowl/pile that matches the other one (if that makes sense). One section is the product your going to use and the next is what your going to use it as!
E. g.
Use *highlighter* as *lipstick*

I have dreads and in march 2019 will make 2years :) I googled shaved head because I was sitting in my front yard looking around and just thinking absorbing all what mother nature has to offer me on this beautiful morning and I realized I want to shed my old ways and start fresh! I will be shaving my head because I want to because I am that caterpillar that has yet to resurrect. Wow how you didn't cry in that amazingly honest video idk rock on to you. I had to shave my head (this the Kerri part of Mary ann and Kerri) I have numerous issues one being a continuous migraine that cause my hair if it's tugged laying on a pillow having a hat on which I have to wear now because my body refuses to regulate its own temp. Everyone I love was so supportive and I made it a joke so no one knew how much I am dying inside every time I do it. It has nothing to do with what I look like the people I surround myself with love hair no hair but each time I shave my head it's as if I am handing another part of me to the disease/illness that has revenged my life to the point where I can't eat food I can't stay in sunlight without extreme pain even with a hat and sunglasses. I cannot handle having hair the nerve pain is so intense but again it's one more thing I can't have I can't do and it hurts the first time I did it I honestly thought it would change my life and it would feel so good not to have that constant pain (I got Botox injections in my head 5 times I quit it was agony also six inch needles inserted up close to my skull and have steroids injected and lidocaine and nerve numbing shots no one gets needles full of poisons because they want to). I hate the comments of you look like your post chemo or I've been asked is if it's because I have cancer no but shaving my head is just as painful because it provides pain relief and it takes away a part of who I am each time. My life is my cats sleeping to escape the pain watching RUclips because I no longer can watch tv without suffering consequences and I listen to audiobooks eyes covered in my room fighting pain and emotions. Anyways not sure why you popped up as a suggested video but I'm glad I watched again not the same reasons for shaving my head but so much of the same feelings

Due to trichotillomania AND alopecia since age of 4 I have not had normal hair since. I wear a wig the way people with no teeth wear dentures. It appears this beautiful young lady is still in her first rodeo, she is not used to her new hair reality yet, but that feeling is temporary. Right now, these videos help other people who feel alone with their afflictions with hair, feel encouraged. Its a good thing, & I hope she continues with sharing her video logs of her journey.
Wigs help me blend in and interact without distraction with "normal" people out in public. I can't hide from my hair loss, but I can hide it from those not in my friend circle. Wigs have made it possible to have jobs where people pay attention to the work that is done & not the person doing it. I can go outside without sunburning my scalp. I wear styles that most (if not all) who don't know me, think is my real hair. Noticeable means your not fitted or styled properly. (how many women do we all notice who wear ill fitting bras, how many poor people we see suffering to talk or eat because they wear ill fitting dentures if they are lucky to wear any at all? Or the vain wearing a wig like its some kind of hairy hat?)
I have found that most folks, after staring a bit, asking a few questions and getting an assurance that what you have is not contagious, just don't give a shit if you sport a bald, patchy bald, buzzed, or wigged head. They DO pay attention to what you do and your attitude. If your patchy scalp is crimping your style, get a wig. If wigs wig you out, sport a shave. But what ever you do, do it with a positive attitude and get on with the rest life. I know my hair is not growing in tomorrow nor the next, nor is my friends head who because of burn scarring will never grow hair again.So we both get on with the next thing, ya know?

One of my former classmates was super pretty when she buzzed her hair and she has a long face and a big curved nose. It took the hair out of her face and showed her eyes off more. I sincerely want to say that you truly are beautiful with no hair. you have the most perfect facial bone structure for it, ive also considered shaving my head due to severe psoriasis. Your cheekbones and chin are perfect, you have a beautiful profile. I have extremely thin hair and makes me feel super uncomfortable. When I wear my natural hair by itself, I always wear extensions to make it thicker. I'm always self conscious that you will be able to see them in my hair. I started wearing wigs and it makes me feel even more uncomfortable no matter how natural they look.

hi! my sister and brother also have alopecia, they got better with aloe vera plant. They will cut it then take the gel out and rub it on the patches. They also taking vitamin E. Now they are ok. I hope you give it a try. Stress is also causing it.

Sometimes it is difficult to face problems. It does not matter whether you lived with it your whole life or not, when you never faced it. I assume that you simply took it as it is and never thought about "how it could be", and now you are upset because you dared to think about it...
Well there is a word for it and it is called hope.
Now we all know that hope is a knife which cuts both ways. It can make you truly happy but really upset as well.
I can only assume that somewhere deep down you were unhappy, and now you really had hope and it did not work out... all of a sudden you have to face "all of your frustration" in a storm and that simply overwhelmed you.
Now you've got 2 choices.
You neither really start to love yourself just the way you are, or you keep trying and take medication and keep on hoping.
I personally think your condition made you to the person you are. I think it makes you special and unique. Have you tried to adopt to it? To make it to something special?
Don't define yourself over hair. You are beautiful. You ve got a great personality and people love you. Not for your hair, but because of you. :D

Mine has been falling out in past few months but I looks back and think how I have been feeling, thinking living for past five honeslty my entire life and I feel my body has been screaming at me. I was just trying to get through the day. All the stress feeling u worthy to even exist and get help now I have to deal with the consequences. Has brought up so much anger, sorrow, helplessness. Is like what choices do I have now? Feel it's been a process. Layers of an onion. I can lock myself up like I feel I have been doing wasting life away like as if I can go back in time and start over or accept what is do as u suggest this all had made me into the person I am and hope that it will benefit me and it will grow again or just accept as is vs fight it which just causes low stress. Takes away any energy I have can't even think straight making me feel insane and helpless. So much more to say so will stop and just say thank u.

No one, but yourself, can make you feel happy. I used to be sooo insecure about being chubby and having acne, but after watching this one video of these 3 senor ladies, they changed my view on beauty. Like not feeling pretty when you're young in the present moment, but later on looking back and noticing how good you looked and not knowing.
