Hey there Kirk! I’m having an issue and can’t figure it out. I’m trying to re-stucco a few areas on my foundation and it keeps finishing lumpy. Just not very flat and inconsistent. I’ve tried a wetter mix and a dryer mix and it doesn’t trowel well and sometimes pulls off the wall in some areas. Almost like it starts setting up too quickly. I’ve also tried wetting the wall first. Then finishing with sponge trowel to try to match the heavy sponge trowel texture. Been using 1 part Portland to 3 parts sand. I appreciate any input!
Howdy Derby, that means your not applying enough pressure and the walls are to dry, thus it bubbles or pops off, keep your trowel wet also, as a dry trowel will pull the stucco off the wall.🍾

Hi Laurie, sand blasting in our state was outlawed about 30 years ago, for good reason, it creates silica in the air which is as bad as asbestos when inhaled. Back when it was legal, it was done to remove the paint. Today, one would pressure wash well and then apply a bonding agent to the home, then stucco over the painted surface. Besides, if you correct the stucco, and then sandblast it, that would remove the stucco. Where's the logic in that. 🤔

@@StuccoPlastering It just got me chuckling. I'm a contractor and always find myself doing extra stuff. "Why" is a funny question when you think about it.
Because it was dirty. Because it will make my job easier/safer. Because I like the homeowner. Because I already have the pressure washer out and this is just efficient. Because of the way I was raised. Because i'm working and this should be done. Because it's satisfying to clean moss off rocks! etc etc etc. "Why" can be a complicated question! Thanks for the videos
Exzachary, all of the above go through my mind simultaneously and come out, just an afterthought, much simpler.
As a rule, since I have been in business we always leave a home cleaner then we found it.
I've never been yelled at for that.🍻
Some people make their living clearing moss from patios and Kirk just does it out of courtesy
Good morning Pirata, moss does have a tendency to become slippery when rained on, thus dangerous,
I'd hate to see these folks slip and hurt themselves on my watch.😏
Where did you buy that back brace? 🤕
Online, of course.
You could used different types of sand that doesn’t harm the environment plus if you sandblast it’ll be way easier to work on the house and stucco will last longer
Hello, my friend; thanks for the comment. It's not so much about what sand is used to remove the paint; it's what that sand does to the existing stucco under the paint; it shreds it.🤔
Is Silica harmful to humans? depts.washington.edu/silica/silica.html/.
Silica dust particles become trapped in lung tissue, causing inflammation and scarring. The particles also reduce the lungs' ability to take in oxygen. This condition is called silicosis. Silicosis results in permanent lung damage and is a progressive, debilitating, and sometimes fatal disease.
How much Silica has ole Kirk inhaled? So much I consider myself a machine for still being alive. 😉

Or you guys at least want us to load the roof before you guys start plaster especially with a tile roof because of the weight of the tile I know stucco guys like to have the roof loaded so all the weight is up on the roof so when you guy's do your scratch and brown it don't crack .
Even lately when we have be putting hot tar roofs on the plasterers have been trying to rush us so they can do the plaster but they haven't told the guys doing the mansard around the building to hurry up and those guys are installing a tile roof on the mansard they haven't even asked them to load it and that's where most of the weight going to be coming from and it's not a lite weight concrete tile it is a standard weight concrete tile.
Howdy Joseph Dude, this is not my first rodeo, I have many videos on, why stucco cracks, enough on this subject to fill a few books. However this information deals with homes that have not completely settles. Between 1 to ten years new.
how many seasons it take for a home to completely settles involves to much info than this box will hold.
The average new home I'd say needs at least 10 to 20 years to fully settle.
This one is well over 50 years settled.
Here's some background wisdom from lessons learned from our past.

Yo Kirk just wondering at the endings of urs videos I keep looking hmmmmm are u with a new woman????
Hello Carmen, indeed, I met Judy, the woman at the end of the current video's another lifetime ago.
My gut feeling points to this, society would speak of her as a soulmate from a past lifetime.
The last woman you may have seen was my girlfriend, we split a couple of years ago;
Like Janis Joplin sang, he’s looking for that home, and I hope she finds it.

so kirk, a contractor wants to sandblast our house after "repairing" our stucco issues. It doesn't seem like you do this.
i've been watching your videos on patching and fixing cracks so i can paint my house. But I kind of like this idea better than paint, my house is 60 years old so i guess it's settled. What to do?
Howdy bass dude, color coats are permanent as in this video too. ruclips.net/video/xPvm5BUm5-8/видео.html/ Repair bad stucco patches with a new finish. 😉
