Theoretically, scorching could happen in space. Metal slugs and rounds hitting things creates a lot of heat and these ships need to have some type of atmosphere inside them for human habitation which that heat and metal could react with as it escapes. So, theoretically it could happen. Additionally, kinetic rounds in space, where there is no resistance due to friction, won't lose any velocity until impact. If hitting at a high enough velocity those rounds could very well be vaporizing themselves and parts of the ship, similar to tank rounds which melt on impact. That could potentially create super heated gases as well. Love the mod and can't wait to see what else you come up with!
While I wouldn't put it on my desk (I like a Minimalist setup without distraction).... This is unreal!! You really did bring the look of the Rocinante to a PC case! From the ship metal to the look of propulsion boosters.... Respect, I loved that show 🥹
Watching this build series makes me want to do a build. I have been wanting to do a small tower for gaming and you have given me some ideas. I am looking forward to seeing more builds like this.

thats beautiful, I can see you took some ideas from the unfinished Star Wars build, with the hole out the side and the blaster marks up the side.

On the ships the gun turrets were on every major axis, as you saw when the rossie was fighting. Love this build genuinely well done Jay ❤❤

I really wanna take this second of appreciation for the Editor to have put in the Matrix Scene without a greenscreened Jay. Rotoscoping even just 2 seconds really already is a pain, so hats of for commiting to the Pain for a single joke. As a fellow Editor I salute you.

I love watching these builds as you seem to be happiest when you're being creative. Just a thought, but why not add a mangled gun turret next to the hull damage to simulate weapon targetting?

The Destiny build was cool......THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME!!!!! I love the Expanse series so this is right at the top of the builds I've seen. Nice touch on the INSIDE RGB that looks like the internal components you can see through the explosion hole are still on fire

You could also use some magnets on the bottom of the turrets, that way you can stick them anywhere.

"Well actually Jay", you are doing just fine with the scorched appearance in space. The most obvious explanation for it is that the oxygen for the scorching came from the atmosphere of the ship. But if you're going to be in space combat, you really should put on suits and vent your atmosphere to prevent burning. Also, free oxygen is not required for combustion. This isn't a campfire. There are many combustible materials that need no free oxygen to work. Gunpowder is the most common. All the oxygen is in the potassium nitrate (aka saltpeter). Current spacecraft use hypergolic propellant in their thrusters that need no free oxygen. Some leave a blackish residue. You can also have a reaction from the damaged material itself. Many things that you don't think will self-combust will if there is enough heat, and trust me, a kinetec round from a railgun produces enough heat to make most materials self-combust: no oxygen required. Believing free oxygen is required to produce a blackish residue, aka scorching, is a common misconception of folks who know some pop science but don't understand chemistry all that well. You do you Jay. Great build!

Scorch marks are from high heat and not just fire. People confuse basic soot accumulation to stuff that is overheated. Stuff with still carbonize even in space but there just won't be fire unless the thing had an oxidizer that can burn like oxygen or stored oxygen in the first place.

It looks awsome :) my idea for bright color akcents would be 3d printning it, paint it orange you liked and mount it on the panels, also maybe add some thrusters :)

yeah this is why I came to this channel in the first place! Oh man.....those PDCs........When I did my 3d printed racinante build I had to print 6 of them. They are moveable and deployable, but they are very fragile. I think I printed 10 and I had 1 spare at the end. lol I broke so many of them!!! To make things worse I did color changes on them with my MMU2S on my mk3s+. such a pain. Worth it though! The final print looks AMAZING.

"Nic took my ideas and turned it into a physical, tangible thing." That describes what i do for a living lol im a Mechanical Designer and its my job to take napkin sketches and hairbrained ideas into manufactuable parts.
Adding some space might help with acoustics, but you might want to consider moving away from the louver design for the AIO fan in leau of a grate instead. That should (in theory) produce less turbulence and resist air flow less. I think what you three have done here looks awesome, and I can't wait to see more! Maybe some more scifi themed builds (ie: The Orville) soon? ;)

Cannot unsee... The white fans on the outside look like minion eyes, please paint them grey/black too. Or maybe the black center "pupil" of the eye a lighter white to blend better with the white surrounding them.
love the end result, but I really can't help but notice that it *does* need a bit of colour. I'm thinking a "wing" racing stripe like in star wars, be it just straight stripe of the xwing or the little chevron looking thing of the ywing or even the hood of the a-wing, but *something* is missing on the overall look. other than that, awesome work to all involved, be it printing, filming or modeling
My brain made it look like Kevin from minions and now I can not unsee it if I tried. xD
