Nathan Medina The album nonetheless was underrated. I don’t believe she won any awards for it (nominations only) even though the sound was unique for its time and Beyoncé released Crazy in Love afterwards which arguably has a similar sound to 1 Thing and garnered much more praise and accolades.

She’s highly underrated and her vocal ability is amazing.
Amerie released 1 Thing on her own behind her labels back, leaked it to the radio and the radio was begging for the cut. She leaked it because they wanted to take it and give it to J.Lo which she knew what would happen, J.Lo would do what she did to Christina Millian and Ashanti, keep their vocals on the track and sing over it to sound better.

I remember when this first dropped in 2002, she was such a breath of fresh air, everything about this was perfect and right on time. Her whole debut was 🔥 it literally made my year. Every time I hear this song it straight up takes me back to a pleasant more simple time in life.

And I believe the video was shot in Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn because I used to live in the projects across the street from that park even though u can't see them. My mom would take us to that park all the time when we were kids. Memories 😭

This is from the first album which dumps on any album Beyonce's and a lot of female RnB artist in the early 2000s era. Next track you should do is her song talking to me. Listen to the whole album it is a masterpiece. I promise you won't be disappointed.
You are correct, her production sounds very hip-hop as opposed to traditional Rnb, that's one of the things I love about her. As you said, it makes it more interesting hearing someone like Amerie over this type of production than say a Nas or Jay. I would highly recommend you check out her first 2 albums, Rich Harrison blessed her with so much fire. Amerie + Rich Harrison = Amazing Music

It’s late and I should be sleeeping....but no no no...have to lament on this one. Bro...this is a ‘Trong choice! That first little hook at the beginning of the track (which is also part of the chorus) just pulls you in....it’s mental. And then the rest of the track is just pure 7 layers of pleasure. One of my all time favourites. Thanks for doing this one man. The Luda remix for this is tuff too. Keep up them good choices man.
