Wow! Thank you so much for clearing up some issues. Some people insist you must make a Gauge swatch for garments. However, I discovered not all gauge swatches are exact. One's tension, yarn and the hook size to get the required gauge for the size to make could change the look of the stitch pattern. Then, I now realized working with the craft council measurements didn't mean EVERYONE having a medium chest circumference would wear a medium waist circumference! I measure clothes or the person or myself directly to get accurate sizing and then work from there gradually. Trying it on matters a lot! I love your tutorials. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Thank you Anja. Really good advice. I really don’t mind trying and frogging to get things how I want them. I know some people absolutely hate to frog. But I think if my work is going to be around a few years I really don’t mind frogging and starting again. Or sometimes I leave it and start again with another ball of yarn , smaller or larger until I get it how I want it. Then I frog the original.

I totally agree with everything you've said. 😍😍 I have learned that I prefer top down garments because I can try it on as I go. If I swatch, I make it bigger than 4×4. I tend to use patterns from designers who have a similar shape to mine or a designer who shows the completed tester photos in multiple sizes.

Hehehe, you are not only the best crochet tutor, but you have some magical powers too. I believe you go to a special fairy forest, I wish I had learned this lesson when I started crocheting. I love your garments here, mind if I ask which video is the brown tunic (?) one? Thanks for these tips!

The tunic is in fact grey, lol. But it isn't one of my designs, it is actually a Drops Designs pattern called Grey Sparrow. It's number is 195-14. Hope this helps Anja x

Thanks so much for these tips. I just made your beach poncho, and thought because it’s a rectangle there shouldn’t be a problem. I did try it as I went, but didn’t understand how exactly the buttons would affect the neck and shoulders. Being a larger person, it barely fits me in the shoulders and pops off as the button holes are stretchy. I’ll have to give it away to a smaller person or it won’t get used. And it’s so lovely! I did diagonal stripes of white and charcoal and one red stripe a third of the way down. It’s beautiful! But it doesn’t fit. 😕 If I’d known these tips, it wouldn’t have happened like this!

Thank you so much for this !! I’ve tried making two sweaters, one with making everything separate then putting all the panels and stuff together. and now I’m making one with a top down pattern. For the first one, it turned out way to wide and the sleeves were so tight, and for the top down one I’m still making, I have the same problem!! It’s so wide. . Like way to wide and it looks very unflattering. it’s so baggy that it ruffles at the back. It looks very balloon like. I don’t know what I did wrong :(I hope next time I can follow these tips and make a sweater that fits

I’m about to start work on the sleeveless cardigan, so this tutorial is just what I needed right now. My question is: where do you measure...across the back? Across the hips, for the starting row? Or from armpit to armpit (as I’ve read in several other patterns)?
