Condor and Eagle! Nice picture. I did not know the rocks were in such a high vegetation area. That was the first time I have seen Eagle Rock from a distance. Fun, new perspective. Thank you! Oh....the sound of the birds is wonderful!
I am hoping to do the PCT in a few years so have been watching various folks on RUclips. I have to say I really love your videos. I love that you are taking your time and really enjoying the journey. I love how much you love nature (so do I :D) and stop to "smell the roses" rather than booking it trying to get in as many miles as possible every day. I am a fair amount older than you, so it is interesting to hear a realistic commentary on the difficulties you encounter as well. I am really jealous, lol, but love following your journey. Happy trails and best wishes!
Thanks for IDing that bird. Did you see if some of the trees still had tags? I think they used common name. I'm sure you're well past San Jacinto, but I've seen trees near the top of Black Mountain Road with tags too. That's so cool that you got to pet a horse!
I am really enjoying your videos, keep up the good work! The towhee you saw and heard is a Spotted Towhee. Used to be called Rufous-sided Towhee, but the name was changed some years back. Spotted Towhees are western birds, and a very similar but separate species is the Eastern Towhee, which obviously is in the other side of the country.
Being a "bird nerd" I can't help myself, sorry...! It's confusing with the ornithologists (taxonomists) who name and classify birds as there are periodic changes. More so now than in the past because they are using DNA studies to determine which species are actually related to each other. So sometimes that causes a "split" - breaking one species into two distinct species, or a "lump" - combining two species into one. Often a split or a lump will cause a name change. I believe (but am not 100% sure) that the Rufous-sided Towhee name covered both what is now the Spotted Towhee and Eastern Towhee when they were split. DNA has shaken things up because there are species which look for all the world like they are related but who really aren't genetically; their habitat, food and other choices over a long period of time had them develop similar appearances and behavior. I'll stop now... On a different note, I've hiked about 500 miles of the PCT (mostly Oregon, some Washington and a short stretch near Warner Springs) in sections some years ago. However, now at 69 years old with two total knee replacements, my window for thru-hiking has closed. I enjoy following people on RUclips who do a great job conveying the feel of the trip, and you are doing excellent at that. Good luck with the rest of your hike, and when you get to WA if you need a lift for a side trip anytime, let me know (johntubbs@comcast.net). My wife and I live near Olympia, WA from where White Pass, Chinook Pass and Snoqualmie Pass can be reached pretty easily. We may be in Arizona when you go through, but if we're in WA we'd be glad to help you out.
Hello Tracy, you are doing quite well out there. It looks like you are adapting to life on the PCT. Continue being safe and I do hope that your guardian Angel is keeping a good eye on you. That is good to hear that you are staying in touch with loved ones whenever possible. Eagle Rock is certainly appropriately named. Enjoy the journey. 🤗
I have been bouncing around You Tube looking for videos of hikers on the PCT and AT to get come sort of reference of how the trails are. I just want to tell you that I think you are doing a great job. I would love to do the PCT but I have to retire first so another 5 years or so. It looks so beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing.
The rapid development of vlogging skills plus incredible high definition cameras has made it very difficult to choose which hikers to follow. Your camera work has certainly captured me. I've been through from Scissors to Barrel several times with an unappreciative 'get 'er done' attitude. Your absolutely stunning videography/image of the rainbow in episode 10 rebuked me to savor all aspects of the PCT should I ever get to hike it again. GK
I’m bingeing on your videos today to catch up. I’ve never done a through hike nor do I plan to but I love to day hike and love the mountains so here I am! I’m amazed at what you do and I love your videos as you post more of where you’re going and the scenery than focusing the camera on you all the time. Thanks for the views for those of us who will never! Keep on going!
Thanks for the sights and sounds. In addition, the sounds of the trail/crunch under every step you/I/Hikers in general take. I love that sound! As if the trail is calling us out to hike.
Thank you for not standing directly on the head of the eagle. I've seen several irresponsible and self-centered people doing this for photos, and it will gradually weaken the formation one day as it is battered by sun and rain. It's better to stand in front of it, rather than on it. Thank you for being conscientious of this.
Thanks for sharing. I hike that area a lot and don't get tired of it. Behind the eagle there is a bush that in the blistering summer heat makes good shade to rest. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve enjoyed all the videos so far...and of course being a small part of this day was special for me,too! Have you gotten to Big Bear, yet? You should give Bob a call and see if he can meet you anywhere.
Hoping everything is good on your adventure. Your bio said you were going to post daily. Not sure who your carrier is but most others don't seem to have issues posting. Give us an update soon , we miss you
Another great video. I was laughing to myself at the end with the horses because that is exactly what I would have filmed, the beautiful horses with a I love you thrown in!!! Love it!
Your sure capturing some very amazing views and gorgeous wild life and wild flowers! I hope that you'll have a great Good Friday and a Wonderful Easter Sunday! Happy early Good Friday and an Early and blessed Easter Sunday! Stay safe and enjoy the scenery to!
Your puffy eyes: you maybe experiencing some mild allergies, or a little dehydration. Or of course time of the month. Drink some water 💦 (I know I keep telling you this). Cool compress on your eyes before you get out of your bag will help. Thank you for all your honesty on the trail. Love it. ❤️🌿
Hello thank you for sharing your video. Love the scenery. The section with the trees was beautiful. I would not to many miles because I would be stopping to look at the scenery.
Aloha. I've seen the "Eagle" rock formation presented by about 4 other thru hikers on the PCT. In my minds eye I always thought the "Eagle" was surrounded by similar rocks in the area. Your style shows it off in the distance surrounded by the low bushy grass etc. How cool. You added to my knowledge of those sights as they really are from your perspective. Mahalo Nui loa (Thank you alot). Stay fit, I want to watch all of your videos. Keep on truckin'.

Absolutely love the trail shots and views...looks like you're having a great time...hike on !!! Happy Trails...
Those huge trees! And the new green grass. It looks like you are walking in a city park! 😊
Waiting for EP 12 Hope you are alright! You are so inspiring.

Yah, I figured that out after posting. I haven’t lived in So Cal for many years. Next time I’ll verify ID in case they changed any others. 😊
John Tubbs Thanks, John. I love learning about the birds that live in other states. Appreciate your info. 👍

That is so cool that you were able to call your dad from the trail. The miracle of modern technology. I’ll bet it made his day. 👍😊

I enjoy your videos very much. I like the pleasure you take in nature and small details you delight in. The big Oak was splendid. Happy Trails.

Thank you Shelley! They were gorgeous, I could have sat and watched them much longer if I weren’t pressed for time 💕

Enjoy your presentations, looking forward to more content. Travel well and be safe.
Hello thank you for sharing your video. Love the scenery. The section with the trees was beautiful. I would not to many miles because I would be stopping to look at the scenery.
What are you using to edit and string together your video clips?
When your practice hiking at home, it reminded me of the foothills here with the oaks. I love the smell of oak.
Love your videos! I always look forward to a new one. Wishing I was on the PCT with you!
There are no official painted blazes on the PCT it is generally well marked with the PCT logo signs.
I've not seen that section of trail filmed the way you did.
I very much enjoyed it. Thanks.

Nice mellow trail in this video, you deserved a little easier hiking this day. I'm really enjoying all the details you capture throughout the day.
Think I remember that trough. 25 years ago lol. Was not very happy about the water
Eagle rock is cool, nice photos. Are you updating guthooks water report? Still a lot of water available. Really pretty day and the flowers are great.
Yes! I use GH every day! Still lots of extra little streams popping up on trail that aren’t on GH list.
@@TikiBirdTracy it has been a fantastic spring. Loved it.
It's Irish Spring.
15:31 Bluebonnets!!
