- In this video we talk about solving Toyota Landcruiser Prado DPF problem when the DPF message comes on the driver info display. Here are the faults that will show when you connect your diagnostic tool:
P2002 - DPF efficiency below threshold (Bank 2)
P242F - Dpf restriction - Ash accumulation
P2458 - DPF regeneration duration
P2459 - DPF regeneration frequency
P2463 - DPF Restriction - Soot accumulation

The problem with diesels is not the DPF system, it is the owners of the vehicles and their lack of knowledge.
Diesels are work horses designed to run at low revs and at constant speeds. They're happy to run like that all day. If you do a lot of stop/start driving, short trips (5-10min) the DPF is going to get clogged with soot because the engine is not reaching optimum operating temperature and not being driven long enough to trigger DPF regeneration.
The car in this video has likely done a lot of short trips, heavy traffic stop/start and the DPF has become so clogged up, it has gone into limp mode.
If you take the time to read the manuals supplied with DPF fitted vehicles, it explains CLEARLY how the DPF works and how to operate the vehicle correctly to avoid issues.
I have a 2019 Prado with the 1GD-FTV 2.8ltr, it's done 260,000km without a single issue whatsoever. I change the oil & filter every 5,000km without fail and again, never had an issue because the oil doesn't get full of soot either.

When you delelte the dpf system from the vehicles ECU and replace the dpf cannister with an exhaust pipe/downpipe, do you need to change any other parameters within the controls of the ECU? And which sensors need to stay connected?
Also, can one just hollow out the dpf itself and attach the cannister to the exhaust system?

leave it idle...and it will block dpf much faster...never leave idle
Constant stop/start in heavy traffic, low speeds and short 5-10min trips (engine doesn't get hot enough) kills diesel engines. Diesels produce the largest amount of soot when they are cold started until the engine reaches operating temperature. Short trips will also not trigger DPF regeneration, so it will clogged up.
Hi, I'm getting a check engine light with traction control light on after I do long trips of around 500KM. When I have the engine scan, the scan throws error P208B. When I reset it, it goes away, but after a long trip, the lights turn on again. The manual dpf switch does not seem to do anything when I press it on the long trips. When cycling thru the menu, I also don't see anything regarding dpf. 2015 Prado 1GD TurboDiesel Do I have a faulty dpf system?
If you have a DPF switch on the dash, it won't do anything unless 'custom mode' has been enabled at a dealership. Once enabled, it will allow you to perform a manual regeneration when at idle. You can not activate a manual regeneration when driving.
The fault code P208B refers to the reductant pump. The PCM (Power train Control Module) has detected a fault.
Engine check lights are there to warn you of a potential fault. Clearing the code does not make the problem go away! Do not ignore warning lights!
Best job done but we can not see the practical solution to delete dpf and adblue system
not sure you need to fix it yourself, mine was smoking white, I took it to Toyota and they replace the DPF for free (Prado GXL 2016)
