For another $200 you can get a Garmin Xero. At least that has a rangefinder built into it. Point being there will never be a pin based sight that merits a $700 price tag (for me). Never.

It’s supposed to be able to move with the brake on. It brakes enough to keep it from moving. I don’t know how that is your biggest gripe. It’s specially made for a Mathew’s bow. I’m sure just having the Mathew’s name on it jacked the price up. Just like the QAD rest that is made for it. I think it’s well built and thought out. I like how light and compact it is and how streamlined it is with the bow. If your buying this sight you have already most likely spent thousands of dollars on a new Lift. What’s a couple hundred more dollars for a sight that fits the bow better than anything else? How many of the people complaining actually have a bow this will actually work on?

  • @kylemacdonell1450
    @kylemacdonell1450 3 дня назад +3

While I agree 100% the price is NUTS.. There is a timer shut off. This thing is VERY light weight. Its the only sight without a big offset. It moves on purpose, its an override while hunting, its not going to move by accident.

Thanks Nate for the honest review, that goes along with how the common bow enthusiasts feel about the sight. As someone that works in manufacturing, this sight is a slap in the face to those that work hard for their money. Their price gouging scheme is apparent when you recall the Jesse Broadwater grip... then out comes the UV grips thereafter for a premium price.

Thank you for your honest review. That brake issue is unforgivable. From a product manager perspective, designing something that has such an ultra limited customer base is not in the best interest of the company. That's the reason for the price. Limited sales requires higher margins, especially when being split amongst two companies.

@@pik2490 Very convenient lol. They should give you the option to have it lock down then ... I got an axcel landslyde for my hunting bow and its been an amazing sight. Got it used for less than 300 bucks with a 3 pin accustat. Ultraview has been going down a road Im not interested in. They seem to know their market though, being the newbie with money to burn or the tac shooter that thinks they are john dudley or whatever, lol. Their stuff is not bad by any means, its just double the price of the competition for the same or even inferior quality. I liked UV when they were innovating and creating some new interesting stuff. Their UV3 scope being the main thing. It was nowhere near the quality of axcel or shrewd, but it brought something new to the table allowing people to swap cartridges easily so they can shoot 1 bow for 3d, target and even hunting. Since then, their releases are mehh, their sights are mehh, their stabs are mehh, their arrows are just silly being 4.5mm and absurdly priced.... I just cant get behind anything they are doing right now. At least there are still other companies rockin it. Axcel runs the show in terms of sights. Black gold and HHA for hunting sights are always solidd too. Victory, easton, and black eagle make any arrow you could ever need at fair market prices. I guess there is enough people that will buy into marketing to keep them successful though, so kudos to them for honing in on a select group that is loyal to the core.

I agree somewhat but there's still lots of good midpriced gear out there. I think the issue is seeing these social media influencers upgrading their bows every year and using the most expensive gear for everything.
Brands put top dollar gear in these guys hands and it gives the rest of us the false impression that it is all standard equipment.
The influencers act like reviewers/enthusiasts but they're just vehicles for product placements.
Ignore the marketing. If you want to splurge occasionally fine, but focus on the mid priced stuff that offers quality and good value.... that's where 99% of us lived before social media got taken over by marketing executives and unscrupulous influencers that have us believing we need to be constantly buying expensive shit to be happy.

I agree with 99% of everything you said. Only issue is the lock. They have clearly stated it’s over-rideable and a feature of the sight. If you like or want that feature is a persons preference but to say it’s a lemon or broken when it’s specifically made that way is incorrect. With that said as nice as it looks $700 + change is stupid. Yes I get it’s a nice sight, it’s made well, it’s Mathews branded and it’s a quality precision piece of equipment from a company we know likes to charge a lot for things. But putting lipstick on a pig does not make it human. I’m seriously looking at the axcel driver. Has all the features and has every bow mounting option right away. That sight is $500 too so I guess I’ll never be a rich man.

Yes, all bows will come stock with the engage grip. Any other grip is $99 and then side plates $49. But it is after the fact.

That’s crazy. I can’t believe what they’re doing with this stuff. It’s not even close to being worth that price tag.

First honest review of this sight on youtube - yea, it's a nice sight but nothing special and WAY over priced.

Ultraview bust out another 300 the sight is literally more then half the new Mathews
Supposedly you can move it with the brake on that way if you are in a hurry and need to make a quick adjustment you can just dial its stiffer

The paper sight tapes are the reason I won’t switch to the Ultraview. I absolutely hate paper sight tapes. I’ve bought CBE sights the last couple times because they have metal sight tapes.

Excellent review! I'm not even sure this sight is legal in states that do not allow artificial light? Since this light is integrated and you cannot remove it, this wouldn't be legal in CO, ID and few other states.

    • @douglasvaughn9530

You can remove the light. It pulls right out and they include a sight ring to go in if you take the light out.

ultraview intentionally allows movement with the brake on they call it "overdrive" so in the heat of the moment your able to adjust the sight I would be surprised if the light didn't turn itself off and thought you would test this before speaking on it

It looks like a top quality site but man that price is getting up there! I guess if the original UV Slider is $600 they figured add another $100. Maybe skip the fancy case and keep it at $600. I'll stick with my HHA even though it doesn't have 1st axis adjustment. Even MFJJ called them out on the cost.

UV is making entry into hunting seem like it’s way too expensive of a sport to begin. There needs to be an influencer that normalizes shooting the same bow for 5-6 years, with a good old fashioned fixed TruGlo sight from Walmart and some .006 arrows. What I heard three 18-19 year olds discussing while buying some UV arrows the other day absolutely blew my mind.

So when it is on your bow, what the heck are you supposed to do with the box? Shave the box off and @ 200 dollars off as well.

CBE and Redline both have metal sight tapes on their high end hunting sights. All $300 or less.

You are not a Mathews fanboy and light freak so You do not justify the cost and I totally understand that. In fact I do not see the justification of the upgrade from old one to new one only to get it lighter and USB light, but I use the "old" UV slider and I love it but I started to feef benefits of it only when I got a "promotion" deal and bought the sight and additional mount. Now I got standard mount on my aluminium bow (older one) and pic mount for the carbon bow. Got 2 sight tapes for each of them for 3dfield and hunting setups. I see some benefits on such multiple bow setup to split the costs with single sight, 2 mounts and multiple pin cartiges. Without that the standard price of just single sight with single cartrige, there are cheaper and good alike options on the market.
