I keep my little Maltese done just like this with just a little more hair on the tail for a bit of sassy personality. Princess is older now, almost 13, I have decided that I would buy the tools and watch videos so I can trim her up myself. She was also born with that slightly curly hair, if I let it grow, she looks like a little sheep. Because it is so hot here in South Carolina, this is an excellent cut for her and maintenance is much easier. Thanks for your video. Excellent banter as you moved along.!!
Hello :) i’m a first time dog mom with a 5 month old maltese. My friend who also owns a maltese told me that shaving her hair all off will make the hair grow curlier and better. i’m thinking of doing it myself at home (due to covid) but not sure what size of the clipper i should use or how short i should go. My clipper comes with 10mm, 6mm, and 3mm blades (?). Which one should i use?
Her: shaving by the eyes
My stress level📈
When she held her snout closed, trimmed her nails and those big scissors 😱
I’m sure she knows exactly what she’s doing though!
This video makes me think about something.
I was called over today for a special case. A really old maltese with bad heart failure and epilepsy. Her whole belly is full of fluids (I'm talking very big belly) Her hair was so matted because of the echo gel they used and owners couldn't brush (they are very old themselves) Their usual salon turned them down. (The vet told them the groom had to happen inside their home to reduce stress)
They requested me to come over and just shave her all over to make her comfortable for the time she has left. The poor dog was coughing and couldn't stand properly. We opted for no bath to minimize the stress on her heart. This was really sad knowing I will be the last one grooming her, ever. But we gotta do what we gotta do. I can sleep tonight knowing that that poor girl is not matted anymore and the lovely owners were so happy that I could help their baby.
I didn’t know how old this video was and I looked at to see when you posted it and it says 2 years ago 🥲 the poor baby is probably running around in her after life with a nice clean cut ❤️🥲😭
That was a good, patient dog especially with the loudness of your clippers. You always do such a lovely job on your grooms!
Thank you
@@LoveofGrooming Hi, what's the name of the clippers please, and where to buy? Thanks.
I always thought little white long haired dogs were hideous but after seeing a Maltese shaved, they’re actually handsome dogs. Cute faces, nicely stocky. If I had one I would get it shaved short.
I just shaved my crested tzu successfully thanks to this vid!! thank you 💕
Groomers put in a lot of effort, I wish the dog owner would show same sort of attention and brush their dog's teeth most days of the week so they don't have a lifetime of poor dental health.
I thought exactly.
Once again, I've learned SO MUCH from watching you. You really do the BEST grooming videos. Thank you for showing us how to do it. This time, I learned which blades to use where, how to watch out for the skin under the armpits, that I CAN shave my maltipoo's ears, and how to do the pads. I took a break from grooming my own pup to watch this because I wasn't sure how to do his ears, which are matted. ....going back out now to finish up! Thanks again.
Thank you! I've been trying to find a video that shows me how to cut my senior dogs hair all over, I love his face having length but at this point I'd rather him be comfortable than me wanting a certain cut on him, he's 12 and I'd rather keep any and all stress off him now. You did an amazing job on her she looks so good!
Love the little tips you give when dealing with the sensitive areas. Great video!
Ach,so ein liebes Wesen.Sie war ganz ängstlich, tat mir richtig leid.Glaube nicht, das sieda wo sie lebt viel Zuwendung bekommt.Alles gute meine kleine 🐭
Die Friseurin hat es gut hemacht🎉😊
Great video. I have a very similar dog and always like her to be shaved down when she gets her haircut. I decided to start grooming her myself and it didn’t go as smoothly as I thought this first time. Your tutorial has shown me how I need to do this next time. Thank you!
my late doggy Punia had 1 each dewclaw on the front paws and 2 each on the back paws, the pairs in the back looked so silly 💕
I have 4 havanese. I always liked the look of short hair dogs like jack rustles but hate the shedding. I keep my havanese clipped short and they are nonshedding so it's pretty great in my opinion.
She is so cute and so well behaved, I do the same with my Yorkie poo in Spring Thanks for sharing
Lots of good techniques.Thank you for sharing. This video was helpful 😊👍
Such a good pup! Very cute cut! 😍😍
Easy to maintain! I love it.
Am I the only one that loves dogs shaved like that? They look so cute 😍
I think so too, I thought I was the only one! I think they look so much better shaved because the hair isn’t in their eyes and mouth and getting dirty all the time :)
Good job now she looks like a beauty. I love it when small dogs get their winter hair cut off and they have that young puppy cut instead. You did and excellent job and her owner should love her new look. Thanks for sharing grooming video.👍😊😊🐶🐕🐾🐾
Excellent job
Thank you very much!
Woah i just remembered your voice. You are love for pets!
Thanks for the video, some good tips! But I would never shave my Maltese that short! Unless he gets skunk! Lol!!
For sure, shave off the smelly hair, lol.
Esa máquina, suena como una moto de alta cilindrada, sin tubo de escape!!!
If only my pup would sit this still
You make it look so easy🥺I was scared to hurt him😓😢❤
Cute little dog. I need some of those cordless clippers.
Thanks for this video, learned some new tricks and the grooming was wayyyy quicker and looks so much better this time around. My dog is nearly identical to her, so I basically did the same thing lol
She's a beauty. Great work.
I was so disappointed and upset after picking my 6 month old Purebred Maltese up after being groomed they persuaded my husband to do a shave down sumner cut he looks like a Rat! How long will it take for his beautiful hair to grow back
I just stumbled upon your channel. I LOVE your gentleness with your dogs and the way you talk to them and give them reassurance. I have a 10 year old rescue Maltese who I am learning how to groom myself since his groomer of 9 years retired. He HATES to be brushed or groomed or any type of manipulation by me. He had 3 owners before I adopted him and obviously has suffered some trauma. He fear bites me and even though I have groomed my last Maltese (he was so sweet and easy) this Maltese is a challenge for me. Thank you for sharing your skill and knowledge. I appreciate your style. I have watched other groomers who are hard for me to watch. I will be watching many of your videos! Hugs to you!
❤️Jalyne and Pup Jacky boy in Utah
😊 Thank you, for the tips!
I have same dog and mine bites at the shaver or scissors. Any suggestions around face and snout ?
I’m gonna have to do this to my Buttons, he’s got really sensitive skin and when his hair is long on his face it really irritates him poor baby. But this is adorable and that dog is a trooper
What a super sweet baby!
I was wondering what little dogs look like without the frou-frou. They're almost dogs!
Excellent video
Thanks so much for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it
amazing video thank you so much
Really helpful. Thanks a Mil.
You are a awesome groomer. I love how you groom and I learn so much from you.
Are most of the little dogs you work with this agreeable? I've only been looking at videos for Morkies and dogs of either parent breed, but they seem remarkably agreeable to all this stuff
I liked the 'before' picture?
what a cutiie i like it shaved love the little face and thosw eyelashes
Thanks have a better idea now and how to cut nails. How come you didn’t clean ears
His ears were clean so I leave them alone.
I find the cordless KM much noisier than the corded one. I don't know why Wahl had to do a KM cordless if they already had Bravura (with much more qualities)...but this is just me :)
Is that normal size/frame for Maltese?
It looks really stocky
Hi, I love your videos and your beautiful standard poodles babies. I watched your review on these Wahl KM cordless clippers and you said they were quite. I'm on the fence about buying these because in this video they sound like hedge clippers LOL. I have learned so much from your videos; have two older mini poodles ( 15 and 14) I'm trying to groom at home due to the stress of taking them to a groomer. Still a little afraid to do their faces. Thanks so much for sharing with us. You have a Tender-heart.
Hi, the clipper is not too loud. My camera makes it seem louder. It's a good clipper.
Thanks so much for your reply. Do you have any tips for tear stains on white poodles? I have a small toy, (5-lbs) Toby-Keith... LOL That gets them really bad, even though, I take him to a professional groomer every eight weeks to have his face clipped to keep it clean.
Hi thanks for the video! Can I use any shaver on my Maltese? Like Phillips company or any company?
Hi. a clipper meant for dogs is best, however you can try. I have no experience using human clippers on dogs
Can you use human clippers? Also are you just using the clipper itself without any of the attachments like a #1 or #2 etc? Thank up.
Hi, you probably could use a human clipper however I don't have experience with them and not sure if they would cut through dog hair. I use the clipper without comb attachments and use the metal blades with various lengths.
The clipper is way too loud. You know that dogs hear extremely good? It's a lot of stress... you can find clippers and dryers with 58db on amazon...
but what about whiskers?
Is your dog a boy or a girl
OMG. Poor dog!!
I get so frustrated with the face hair because it’s all up in her eyes I don’t want her vision blocked by her hair haha but I’m too nervous to do it myself maybe I’ll just take her to a groomer
It's so mean to shave her down to her pink skin, she doesn't have a double coat :(
Its not mean. It's mean to leave all the mats in the coat.
@@LoveofGrooming Yes it is mean to shave a Maltese , you can cut matts off or use hair conditioner to remove mats. What u do is mean, maybe someone should shave your head when you get knots in your hair.
@@sweetdreams5072 Are you a professional groomer? You clearly do not know anything about grooming. I feel sorry for your groomer when you demand your dogs matts to be pulled out of the skin causing bruises and a possible rip in the skin. Humanity before vanity. I don't torture dogs or hurt them just to please an owner. When dogs are matted they get shaved, end of story.
I rewatched my video and this particular dog was not matted. Its an owners preference to have clipped short. There is nothing wrong with shaving a dog, get over it. Hair grows.
What kind of hair clippers is that?
Hi, I was using the Wahl KM cordless clippers. They come corded and are less expensive, here is the link. The cordless are sold out.
amzn.to/2SPpLFC
That clipper is so loud.
😊❤🙏
Today my dogs fur got shaved because it was so matted that we couldn’t just go to a groomer the vat had to shave allllllll her fluf off and the only fluffy part on her body is her head and face
Did you set up a Grooming schedule? Your dog should be on a 4 to 8 week grooming schedule to keep the coat in good condition.
