This is one of my favorite dry flies. Much easier to tie than I thought. Thank you Sir Matt for showing how to fill my fly box with some more dry flies.
I started tying wulffs they are very fun to tie I think so anyway. Your videos are very informative and a joy to watch keep it up I recommended your videos to a couple of fellow tiers and my buddy who's just leaning thank you Brian knoblauch
Thanks Jason. No, this was silk floss but you could use Antron. Just take a fairly small bunch of it and wrap it a little tight to keep it flat. Antron is much "stretchier" than silk.
I'm in Maryland so my homewaters are the Savage River and the Gunpowder. But I get to Virginia and Pennsylvania a couple times a year. I'm actually in Idaho right now (just got off the Middle Fork of the Salmon River) tonight. I was last down on Western NC in 2019 but can't wait to get back!

looking good Matt, this guy looks like a Lion to me! cool design!
Ha! Thanks Otto. Maybe I'll invent a pattern and call it a Lion Head. 😁
@@SavageFlies sounds great!!! If it was up to me, I would make something related to a Dragon. Love dragons ever since I was a small kid 😆😆
Yes, dragons are awesome! Tell you what, I'll invent a streamer someday and name it in your honor. "Otto's Dragon" is going to be purple and gold. 👍👍
@@SavageFlies oh man!! You just made my day!!! That would be awesome!!! You have no idea how much I love them. Can't wait for that streamer.
It'll have to be in a few weeks. I'm in Idaho right now. 😎
Very nice tie Matt Thanks again for sharing
Thanks Mike!
Nice fly. May need to build some experience before trying this one. That’s a lot going on, on what is a small hook to me. Enjoyable video. Thank you.
I am going to have to get the book. And yes I too like to tie my own
Definitely check out the book. It's well worth it!
Great visibility for dry dropper rigs.
Very true. I tossed this one for a bit on an Idaho river today and with a little floatant it stayed visible in some pretty rough water.
Great looking fly I going to do this one I don’t have greatly but I’m going to use brown rooster neck
That's awesome looking fly Matt
Thanks Dave!
Nice!
Does look like one for gsmnp.
👍👍
Is the wing buck tail or deer body hair? Nice pattern, again thanks for sharing sir! I’m loving your channel!
Thanks friend! It's deer hair. I think it would be hard to get buck tail to be full enough to look right.
Nice pattern Matt. Is that floss similar to antron?
Thanks Jason. No, this was silk floss but you could use Antron. Just take a fairly small bunch of it and wrap it a little tight to keep it flat. Antron is much "stretchier" than silk.
When you say yellow floss what do you mean? What material is it?
It's a standard fly tying floss. It's not silk so probably nylon or rayon. This is what I usually buy: flyshack.com/DisplayItem.aspx?ItemID=23617
@@SavageFlies Perfect thank you
What region or streams do you fish?
