- In this video, we attended Guam's First Village of Donki grand opening held on April 25, 2024! My sister and I arrived before 6 AM, and to our surprise, there weren't many people lining up. Even when the doors opened, the line moved smoothly and quickly!
Village of Donki is part of the Don Quijote retail chain, one of Japan's largest and most popular discount store chains. Don Quijote, or "Donki" as it's commonly known, was founded in 1980 by Takao Yasuda. The first store opened in Fuchu, Tokyo, under the name Just Co. It quickly gained popularity for its wide variety of products and great prices.
The grand opening of the Village of Donki in Guam on April 25, 2024, marks another big step in the brand's history and has instantly become one of my favorite one-stop shops for my family. They offer everything from household essentials and kitchen items to tons of Japanese snacks, produce, meats, seafood, and delicious ready-to-eat meals. Plus, they have a food court with a variety of cuisines to satisfy all your cravings.
We had a blast exploring the store and discovering all the unique items they have to offer. From Guam and Donki merch to plushies, beauty products, ceramics, and even an otaku section with collectibles like Gundam and Demon Slayer, there's something for everyone.
What really caught our attention were the specialty items from different regions of Japan, like Hokkaido and Okinawa. And their produce, meat, and seafood section! We can't wait to see what else they'll have in the future!
