I hired an installer to go from carpet to vinyl plank. He botched the trap door job 3 times with rubber and miter trim before I sent him packing. I saw this video, bought a Jonny Corners kit, and installed myself. My crawl space trap door looks amazing. Thanks guys!

Floating floors can be glued on the trapdoor just so they will keep still when you lift the door. Some floors can be cut close at the trapdoor but not most and never floating floors. Laminate floors need to be glued with liquid nails or equivalent, particularly around the perimeter, so you can nail the T metal to the door. I hope this helps and thanks.

How about Laminate flooring with the padding attached? Liquid nails still work with that too?

How would this be done with floating floor? Would your side rails keep the flooring on the door or would it need to be glued down? How about the flooring just butting up against the door, how is that edge finished or does it not need to be? Thanks, nice product.

It would be helpful if the person shooting the video were actually showing what you are doing with your hands. How does this work with a hinged trap door?

Josh Bryant the nails included in the kits are minimal in diameter and don’t damage the osb or puff it up, the corners are screwed down and the weight of the door can easily by lifted by the corner

    TRAP DOORS ARE DEADLY
PLEASE - ADD A BARRIER or DANGER SIGN that automatically raises as the door is opened. The cool door has extreme dangers. People walk on these doors a 1000 times a year without thinking it may be open. You may notice when street crews work inside manholes they surround them with barriers to prevent pedestrians and cars from falling in.
My friend opened her door to the laundry room where a contractor from the previous day left the floor-door open to the crawlspace 4' down. She walked in carrying her laundry basket blindly stepped into the open floor. Result: compound femur fracture, broken ribs. She was there for over several hours when a neighbor happened to stopover. Otherwise, she may have died a slow death.
Why do you think they're called "Trap Doors"

So you are telling me that she did not go and check anything after the contractor was finished working? The homeowner and the contractor are both at fault, The contractor should’ve closed up the access door if he was the one that opened it! And the owner should’ve checked as much as she could when the contractor was finished!

Your camera man is AWFUL. Many of the things you tried to show the viewer were COMPLETELY out of frame as you carried out a procedure.
