I am a new'ish fan (1 yr). Happened upon BTS on SNL. I was blown away by their performances. Seriously, the dance/choreo the sound, vibe, melodies...I was hijacked by that tractor beam. Then, I started reading translations to their lyrics, their messages. Then, I watched their vids, learned their history as a group and individuals. Yes, there are small pieces you can attribute to marketing and fan service, but the love and magic from them and between them cannot be replicated. That these 7 came together and shepherded by Bang Si-Hyuk is a cosmic phenom that will never happen again. I am 54 yo. I've liked artists and their music, but I've never "fanned." BTS for me = Big Time Sunshine...7 days a week.

As a BTS ARMY and a marketing professional specialized in consumer behaviour, I don't understand why this 'fans culture' specific to BTS is not studied more (mainstream marketing research) in the field of music & entertainment marketing
