I bought a Ka-Bar knife back in the late 80's and carried it during hunting season. When my son joined the Marines as a rifleman (0311), I gave it to him before his first deployment.
I absolutely love this! One of my most prized possessions is my grandfather's Ka-Bar. He was a Raider in WW2. It was issued to him just before the battle of Guam in 1944. He did, in fact, use it to kill the enemy.
I number the spacers and washers on the same corner and side with a sharpie. You can get a KABAR leather handle rebuild kit that includes the steel guard, pommel, and pommel pin.
Brilliant work. I was wondering why you never kept a shine on it, then I remembered it is a military object and the shine would give your position away. I enjoyed this one a lot. 👌👍👍
Is there a reason to remove rest manually when you have a sandblaster? Legit question, I'm just getting into sandblasting and it seems like it's the better route most of the time. And of course I'm not talking about the mess and clean up and everything, just the results
Great job. The handle is incredible. The finished knife is absolutely amazing. ❤ My dads nickname was Rusty because he had red hair. Your cat is beautiful 😊
In the early 80s I was in the British Army, I swapped a Army jumper with an American soldier for K Bar k ife. I still have that knife I bet he doesn't have the jumper ❤🇬🇧🇬🇧
I recognized the crack on the spine. It's either a cold shunt, or a delamination. Which means the knife was not heat treated or forged properly during production. It's not an end of the world issue overall, but it would be good not to put excessive force on it, so it doesn't snap. Otherwise, it's a perfect piece😊
Yes, I've been to Olean, NY. I attended St. Bonaventure University in the late 70s-early 80s. Bona is roughly 4 miles east of Olean. Although, my Ka-Bar was made in Camillus, NY; which is a suburb of Syracuse.
After watching this several times, I think this is showing 2 different knives. At the beginning of the video a pick is used to scrape rust out of the stamp marks, showing bright steel, then suddenly it shows a knife with the stamp marks filled with rust.
I’m sure USMC officers are so impressive of your work!!! Great Knifemaker 🔪 I believe Bulldog 🐶 want to be friend with your favorite cat 😺 Unbelievable…..knife is very cool style!! Perhaps, soldiers want to meet you and will discuss for your fabulous knife 🔪 Great job!!! SEMPER FI……🪖
According to KA-bar lore, they had a different name way back in frontier times, and got a letter from a satisfied customer, saying it could probably “kill a bear” if it needed to. The writer of the letter was barely literate, so came off as “kill a bar” or “ka a bar” and they took “Ka-bar” as their name
I can't believe you consider this a restoration. A truly restored Ka-Bar would have had a parkerized blade, and a steel guard and buttcap. Using aluminum, and bluing the blade rather than parkerizing it is an offense to anybody that ever served in the Marine corps, myself included.
To treat an imperial army non commissioned officers sword with such disrespect and then to turn around and treat a u s marine k bar knife with such respect Was insulting to both armies

Thanks for your son's service, @russhoffman6301!

Take a rusty old KA-BAR to a thing of beauty, Worth a lot to a collector no doubt.
You were doing a beautiful job,,,,,, Steel and Brass are the ONLY metals for a true Kabar.
Put chalk dust in your files when using them with Aluminium, it stops them getting clogged

That’s a nice knife & sheath thanks for bringing it to us great work as always 👍
Beautiful restoration 🎉🎉🎉
Excellent restoration and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Great job. The handle is incredible. The finished knife is absolutely amazing. ❤
My dads nickname was Rusty because he had red hair.
Your cat is beautiful 😊
Where did you find it?
Beautiful knife beautiful restoration well done
FYI.The shoe wax can be lit and will burn. A few seconds leave liquid wax much easier to apply. Great job.

Nice Restoration ❤💯
I had a knife custom forged and built in a K-Bar style using shrapnel and funeral bullets from my father who served in WWII
Wow! That sounds super awesome, would love to see it!

Yes. 1095 steel. Military issue. Awesome.
Loved the work and Rusty too!

Most likely made by a foreign maker. Thousands were probably thrown away because of that split.
That was great to watch. Excellent work!
amazing restoration
Restoring items like this honor those who served!
good😘😘

Nicely done.
Great work !!
Thank you, my dear, very beautiful
Good work, & Rusty is very cute!
Awesome work.
Another great restoration 👍👏 Congratulations and Greetings from Belgium 😉🇧🇪👋😺
....lookin' good, nice work..
I have my grandfather's Ka-bar from when he served in the Pacific during WWII.
Whats the stuff you put on the blade to darken it?
Que capo..! Excelente...!
Beautiful knife
Nice restoration, and a cute kitty to boot👍🔪😼!!!
Another great video. 😃😃
Класс 👍👍👍
When you pointed to the map, you can clearly see the greater Toronto area. I'm from there, Hamilton in particular, born and raised.
Well done!

No Bud Lite cans crushed?
You have to buy them to crush them.

It is so hard to watch and eat breakfast. I just want to see what is next. These videos are so GOOD. Granny
Use chalk when sanding aluminum
RAMBO WOULD BE PROUD!!!
Very nice 👍👍👍😎😎😎
😊 love your channel xx♥️🏴🇬🇧
At min 3:12 I think thats called delamination; it basically means the layers of metal that make up the knife are pulling apart.
Hi, Rusty
Yay! Another knife restoration! 🫣🙄🥱🥱
I have several Ka-Bars and seeing one in that initial condition cause me some small amount of physical pain...
Les couteaux Ka-Bar sont connus et très réputés à travers le monde !!!

I liked your dumb joke, brought back memories of basic training. Hooah, lol!
Don’t you add salt or washing soda to your water to remove the rust?
He probably had enough left from letting the previous solution evaporate. You can see a white residue in the bottom.
You didn't show how to put the pomel on
You slide it on
Just so it’s known; I came for can man.
That’s my hometown. There’s a chance that knife was made by my uncle.
1 hour drive from my house
I gotta say boo on that messed up handle... The blade looks amazing but that handle... Ugh
HA HA the Kabar spirits don't like aluminum.
Your cat rusty looks a lot like my cat cozy.
Rusty is a good cat name
MASTERPIECE!
7:02 - I see Ghost from True Capitalist Radio found a new job
Среди игрушек валялся старый нож смешно😂
アメリカ海軍のナイフですか?
That looks just like a delamination. I watch way too much forged in fire. I have no idea how it would have a delam or a quench crack thought.
“It’s perfect”
Every thing looked fantastic - but - I didn't care for bluing the blade.
Why was it called a ka-bar knife. Where did the name originate from?
According to KA-bar lore, they had a different name way back in frontier times, and got a letter from a satisfied customer, saying it could probably “kill a bear” if it needed to. Careful. A lot of corrupt DAs out there who would do an illegal bust to have that knife. Sad but true.
You scraped that joke out of the bottom of that rubbish bin, didn't you... 😉
OOO-Rah....=))
А если отпескоструить?

true Kodiak Bear knife are rare
Wow, I’d pay $20 for the finished product! :)

I hope you didn't make this video to profit off the Idaho murders
Nope, I’ve been restoring knives and other items for a long time.
@@lostandrestored yes I know. I watch your videos. Just never seen a ka-bar until now.
