I love restoring vintage odds and ends. What antique do you want to see Restored?
#lostandrestored
I had that knife when I was a much younger man. It's wonderful to see it restored to its former glory. Thank you!
I really love the fact that you try to repurpose and reuse every object, and keeping them true and authentic!
Greetings from Solingen, Germany where the knife comes from. 👍🏻
Awesome, and I love it!
I have one just like this one that says Soling Japan on it. It had the same scales as the one in the video. They aren’t bone or antler. It’s some kind of plastic that cracked. I put walnut scales on it. My dad bought it on R&R in Japan during the Korean War.
Another excellent restoration… I marvel at your variety of skills that you possess to make these amazing restorations possible!!! Well done sir!!!
Хороший стеб.
....LOOKIN' GOOD, NICE WORK,,,
*What I like mainly about your channel is that you are 100% real. Everything you restore doesn't appear to have been tampered with, unlike other channels that purposely rust stuff. You cannot fake stuff like the knife you are restoring and it shows.* 👍
Your work is Great. I Love it before i go to sleep. Itˋs relaxing.
Solingen, Germany! Nice! My favorite heavy metal band, Accept, hails from there!🤘🤘
“Sam Bowie” knife is very shape style. It’s truly amazin’ knife 🔪
It’s very cool leather with original tag on sheath. You’re wonderful knifemaker!!!
👍🔪🇺🇸🇩🇪
Is Sam, Jim's brother? 🤔😁
@@rjb6327 , I think you’re right. Jim Bowie is right person to use his famous knife. I think Sam is someone’s else. Sam Bowie was an NBA basketball player. Sorry……I’ll check twice before I’ll type the story. Thanks ☺️
Sam Bowie played college ball at Kentucky. Then went pro. Jim Bowie was from Kentucky as well. I believe Rezin Bowie was Jim's brother.
He’s not a knife maker, he restores them. That sheath needs work.
Shaken not stirred!!! Reminds of James Bond movies. Your work draws parallel with the exploits of our famous hero 007 James Bond. Unique are your ways doing things flawlessly. Admire your efforts very much. 😊
Great jobs! And excellent humour touches !
Most enjoyable restoration, I had another model of the same knife.
The only suggestion I have, is glue the scales on before pinning them, this may prevent corrosion.
MASTERPIECE!
Love that sharpening tool! Great bit of kit!
I use to buy these original Bowie knives from a coast to coast hardware store in the early 90s for like $10
It’s perfect
Beautiful restoration.
Great job with the knife, but I have one recommendation for the leatherwork. If you ever want to add an old leather tooling patch, try to match the color and finish. The color contrast is too off for me.
AWESOME 👍👍
Looks great I love doing projects like that thank you for bringing it to us 👍
I have a neighbor that has one of the largest bowie knife collections I've ever seen. Damascus is his preferred steel, but he literally sold half his collection to buy himself a new truck. I had no idea that there was such a robust market for bowie knives but he has some that are worth over $8,000 and look like jeweled masterpieces. But he doesn't have any other hobbies accept the knives, fishing, and entering amateur cooking challenges.
Good Very good 👏👏🌹🍀
The saying is like a HOT knife through butter, not just a sharp one. Lol
Great work on this knife and the sheath as well , rwspect.
Awesome Jobs!!!
Nicely done.👍
Lovely finish dude 👍👍👍. Nice touch keeping that touch of the original sheath as well 👉👉👉. 😎
Hello mister good job well done
I have a knife almost exactly the same as that here. I aim to restore it as well. I put the blade in white vinegar to kill/remove the rust. Nearest I can guess, these knives were 50's/60's made in Germany for export. My own guess is that there were a set of dies to stamp these blades out and they were then sent off to different companies for finishing.
Le travail de l'étui est un carnage !!! 🤕
Nice work as always! 👍👍👍
Haha cuts like butter👍🏻
wow
You brought it back to nearly new. Good job straightening that tang. I like that you left a bit of the character in the blade, too. Some "restorations" polish out all the signs of passing time, and what's left looks ... not realistic. That particular one's not *that* small for a Bowie. The originals ranged from 8.5 inches to 13 (short sword) depending on the maker (James' brother Rezin made the first of these for his brother, who made them famous in the Sand Bar Fight. The Solingens run anywhere from 7.75 to 11.5. Mine, at 8 1/4, is a nice size. "Bowie" is more about the style of the blade (long clip point and sturdy -- 3/8ths inch at least -- back.)
I had a knife just like that when I was a kid. (a replica, not original) You could buy them for kids back then because they were taught well. Of course, that's when I was Jim Bowie on occasion. The tip eventually was broken off and the knife discarded.
Nice restoration, but I don't like the sheath.
" they were taught well"?

Great work bro !!
Brother can you tell something about your lighting system and camera ??
Nice restoration Friend 👏🔪
Greetings from Belgium 😉🖐️🇧🇪
Класс 👍👍👍
Over the years from the time of the story of the bowie knife it's been made in different countries from being made from butchers knifes and broken swords in the civil war in the USA ,I have seen books from authors in the USA showing this ,so for some one to say that it's not a bowie knife is wrong they have been copyed by lots of countries over the years generating lots of different styles of the knife
Ficou show
Sharp as ever! Loved that you kept the tooling
My dad had a knife exactly like that.

Nice change, keeping the original handle. Most of these videos the handle pieces are discarded
Осталось ощущение какой то недосказанности... Хвостовик недоровнял, лезвие недополировал, недоточил, нитки шва недоровнял...

LEATHER OXIDIZES KNIVES
For a proper final test, the knife must be heated before tested.
When you see these videos with really rusty objects that come clean and smooth after a bath, you know it is a fake.
You need a middel layer of leather or you will cut the stitching
👍👍👍😎😎😎
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have one with a wood handle and I can't break it lol. Made in Pakistan but I must have got a good one because I use it for stuff I would never do with another knife.
Sheath work is horrible. Knife turned out OK
Yeah, it’s an original Bowie butter knife.🤣

Knife & sheath both turned out hella dope @lostandrestored.
Не плохо. Но мне кажется, что логичнее было бы покрыть чем то клинок. Судя по всему сталь, сильно подверженна коррозии.
is there anything you can't fix and make brand new ?
Oh yeah. Show that butter whose boss...
Nice result. I really like your video style, despite the utter cruelty you showed to the butter .
lol, I'll never use butter again.
Butter as a test subject was weak! Should've used a Pineapple, watermelon, or even a tenderloin.
Lol who cares! All of this took time and effort and it looks great! He was definitely being cheeky
After 100 knives restorations, it gets boring doing the same thing. It's fun to switch it up.

To be brutally honest with you, stay away from leather work.
Please don’t have children
Waiting for you to post a video on your leather work.
@@dieteh I appreciate your concern, however, if you read the other posts, others agree with my assessment. As far as showing you what I can do, I don’t need to prove anything to anyone. I cringed when I saw shoe polish being applied as a dye. all one has to do is RUclips on how to dye leather. I have a degree in advanced materials and design, including leather work. I have been involved in holster and sheath making for almost 40 years so I think I know what I’m talking about without having to prove myself to someone I don’t know. Have a nice day.

Why is this called a Bowie knife?
The design of the knife was designed by Jim Bowie in the 1800’s.
@@WARPSPD thank you
How do you speed up the rusting on your projects before you “restore” them? Hydrogen peroxide?

Fake. No pitting? Yeah right.
