  • An automata based on one of my favorite books. It started out as an experiment using different materials and effects and went a bit crazy. #novels #gormenghast #automata

I found this actually very moving. Rendering the inhabitants of the castle into automata somehow fits the profound theme of the story really well. Everyone is trapped within their pre-ordained roles within the stones. They may think of themselves as having agency, but they do not. The only ones who can perhaps glimpse that they are trapped within a machine are Dr Prunesquallor and Steerpike. The doctor chooses to remain within his place, believing he is free because he sees it all with irony. But only Steerpike is really free - as he tries to destroy the machine itself. Thank you for sharing this amazing video.

This....is one of the MOST beautiful artworks i've EVER seen! the amount of detail in each room...the movement, so natural it could be of a tim burton animation movie. I tip my hat to you!

This is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. I love how you topped it with Lord Sepulchrave at the Tower of the Flints; that "scene" gave me chills. And Flay stalking the halls, Fuschia dreaming in her attics, the robotic, expressionless Grey Scrubbers; you really captured the essence of each character.

So far I have watched this vid 5 times! I will watch it again and again. I am completely spellbound. Each scene becomes my favorite until the next one is shown! It is truly a magnificent, museum quality culmination of creativity, engineering, and art. Were I you I would NEVER be able to part with it! I’m sure it’s commission was worth a great deal of money and WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY, but, in my opinion, it is priceless. When I play the, “If I won the lottery” game I don’t think of buying big houses, cars, planes but consider what that amount could do to help organizations close to my heart. In this one instance, however, I would pursue this lovely piece. I sound like a nut, but am actually quite sane. I just don’t know when I’ve been so captivated by a man made piece. I’d love to see it in person. I’m sure the detail would leave me speechless. You, sir, are so very talented, and your art is breathtaking.

Just trying to imagine a full Gormenghast production done in this style of yours with actors there for voices and a full orchestra. It would be great either filmed or live on stage - beautifully done and perfect as it is though! Pity Maeve Gilmore didn't get to see it. Interesting things happen when you go 'crazy' Keith!

I am absolutely flabbergasted by this masterpiece. The amount of detail in every nook and cranny leaves me speechless. My mind can't even begin to grasp the insane inner workings of this piece. It's impossible to believe this isn't a stop-motion film! It's impossible to believe this even exist! It's just that beautiful! The artstyle is soulful, moody, and all around gorgeous; the animation is so lifelike and human, it's astounding! This is so inspirational, I would love to learn how to make something like this! And oh my gosh, I just noticed the infinity mirrors! I was so immersed I didn't stop to think how the sewer could be endless! The genius of this piece never ends! I cannot even imagine how much work, planning, engineering, trial and error and expertise went into this! Gigantic kudos to you for creating something so magnificent! I admire your passion and knowledge!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💞💞💫💫💞💞💞💞💞💞💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫

I began reading this masterpiece in about 1968. It`s now 2020 and I`ve only just finished the last book in the trilogy after living the story, in my subconscious, as much as I had read, until now... 52 years later. Imagine my delight when, upon finally turning the very last pages of Titus Alone, I am gloriously enveloped with an epiphany. Titus` story, which had been my own tragedy ends so gloriously in his maturation and ability to forsake his lost identity for the true one. This is actually my true identity in CHRIST and that of us all.
