- Playing thru a bunch of the old slide levels from the simpleflips modding competition, and this is probably my favorite so far. The clouds are a little jank, but the concept is top-notch.

Quick disclaimer, this mod didn't have music for some reason so I added some for the vibes.

I'm pretty sure this one's been around for a few years, but I definitely agree that it's top tier. Very creative!

This is actually the rare SM64 mod that actually gives you that same sense of discovery and wonder as the OG game. So cool.
I like when mods connect to and or expand an existing part of the game. I guess it makes it feel more "real" and "official", also putting a new and creative spin on something i already like.

the cloud jumps are way jankier than they look, i kept getting thrown off

This is pretty cool! It's like being a kid again and discovering something cool. I love the idea of a detour slide route taking you through all sorts of areas.

It's such a shame how people will come up with such great ideas, put tons of effort in, only to create something hard enough that 0.2% of SM64 players will ever have the patience to play it.
Simpleflips talked about this alot. Before romhacking got really big and accessible, there weren't a lot of "easy" hacks, and even the hacks that were meant to be easy were hard just due to all of the jank associated with romhacking. Recently we've seen not only an influx of great romhacks, but accessible ones as well for all skill levels

Playing these games nearly 30 years ago was all about patience & the challenge, even if it took 100+ tries. For we older gamers, our inner kid spirit can’t imagine losing patience because the mod is “too hard.” That’s where all the fun is!
@@guttaknight64 Yes, failing to create a fun, balanced difficulty curve is a skill issue on the part of creators

That course is so fantastic

This is so cool, I really like the stage design
Once you get into the cloud portion I feel like the sense of “this could exist” is completely lost, which sucks because before the pipe it felt realistic and I loved it. That being said, it’s extremely well constructed.
I agree, i think if the whole level was just a broken slide it would have been more impactful than the cloud section

It is the invincibility theme music. Also yes, the theme has been played in multiple versions of mario kart.
