The worst NFL blowout ended 59-0 but Bill Belichick should've made it even worse

- The New England Patriots absolutely demolished the Tennessee Titans. Bill Belichick took down Jeff Fisher with no remorse, and yet, it all could have been so much worse. Tom Brady had a record setting 2nd quarter before Brian Hoyer and Vince Young appeared in mop up duty, but had they taken a note from the 1940 NFL Championship game between Chicago and Washington, they would've kept their foot on the gas as we, the viewer, deserved.

The record for most TDs in a game is 7, held by multiple players. Brady had 5 in a quarter, he could have shattered it if they kept their foot on the gas
Could've, should've, would've, but didn't
Such a fact I dont understand why they didnt....could have got like 9 or 10 wow
Rodgers couldve had a lot vs bears but they ran the ball like 100% of the time in the second half
Famouse Bobo oh god, the Rodger’s suckers are everywhere.

To be fair, Brady has always seemed to play well in bad weather conditions in his pro career. Which is weird for a California boy, but I guess he did go to college in Michigan.
Belichick also likes his team to practice outdoors the week before bad weather games, so the cold is something he's already used to.
and their equipment team is always prepared if you know what I mean
@@EmptyHand49 awesome! What a good pun! U got my laugh!
@@EmptyHand49 I know what you mean, but I also have a degree in mechanical engineering so I understand the ideal gas law.
@@EmptyHand49 I'm convinced that's why they blew out the titans.
Imagine if with 10 sec left the patriots are up 97-0 and have the ball on the titans 20 instead of kneeling to get the game over with he sends the field goal unit so they can make the final score 100-0
They should have! The only teams that bothered to rise up to play against the Patriots that year: the Colts (Patriots did not cover the spread) and Giants.
That is totally something Belichick would do
I do that on Madden
Scorigami
Adam Moreira they didn’t play the giants that year
Steve McNair was a much better QB then we remember, because he got to the super bowl with Jeff Fisher as his coach.
I'd rather have McNair as our backup right now, over Hoyer (and that includes the fact that he's dead.) 😉
He should be in the Hall of Fame just for getting to a Super Bowl with Fisher!
To be honest, that defense they had was unreal and the only reason they had momentum to get them into the Super bowl was because the Bills love to choke in the postseason and they played young teams in their first or second year in the postseason lol. It wasn't because of Mcnair
RamsFan 97 yea the bills had that wildcard game won. It’s still unreal to me how they lost that game at the end.

Bears beat the Redskins 73-0 and were literally asked to stop kicking extra poimts because they were running out of footballs... THAT was the greatest blowout in NFL history and it's not even close.

Faolen Smith so you’re not gonna acknowledge that they were asked to stop kicking extra points meaning the Bears left 4 points off the board. Making it 18 points. Or three scores. WHICH is a blowout in ANY era. Yup clearly math IS hard, huh?

Jeff Fischer ruined Vince Young. I dont know what in the hell the Rams were thinking of hiring him. He nearly ruined Goff, Keenum and Foles, too.
Vince Young should have been a legend.
I don't know about Vince Young being a legend like the first commentator, but yeah, looking at his record he probably ruined him. I mean, all you have to do is look at what happened with Jared Goff, and if you're generous Case Keenum and Nick Foles after they got different coaches. He's the Anti-Quarterback Whisperer.
Vince Young was never gonna be good. That being said, Fisher turned just another bad QB into a historically bad one.

My brother and i also had standing tickets he got from redeeming his credit card points. They brought us to field level before the game and had us hold a giant novelty check to promote the offer, which was put on the big screen during halftime.

@@Cobaltt01 pats fans left. They knew it was over. The audacity.
@@dustinkymalainen2976 that's so badass
It actually should have been 61, as Vince Young fumbled a snap, and recovered it in his own end zone late in the game. But the referees had mercy and claimed forward progress was stopped at the two even though he ran into the end zone entirely on his own before getting touched by a defender.
Also, the Patriots went for fourth downs as opposed to kicking field goals, trying to run the clock down, so it could have been worse without failed fourth down conversions in the red zone. The passing plays were also mostly screens, so glorified running plays to keep the clock running.
And if that safety had counted, the game would've been a scorigami.
The Worst MLB Blowout would be fun to see. Rangers beat the Orioles 30-3 in 2007.
Or the worst MLB collapse ever. Can't remember the teams but one of them had a twelve run lead in the seventh and still lost.

I had just graduated college the year before and was living at home, but working in Boston. The power went out in our area of the south shore, so we had to go to the 99 restaurant to watch this game. What an absolute blowout.
I watched this game.
Three years later I watched the Rams hire Jeff Fisher as their head coach.
...
This was my first year at Vanderbilt in Nashville. I was like “Ok I’m from New England but I’ll give the Titans a shot” ......................
I remember watching this, they took it off the air for a more "competitive" game lmao
They missed the best part. The week before Finnigan, a CB for the titans, got into a fight with Andre Johnson. When James Brown was narrating the highlights of this blowout he said: "...and the titans should be fined for not fighting this week". Shame on you SB Nation! Shame!!
I thought the Finnegan fight was in 2010
I agree. When the Bears spanked the Redskins 73-0, even with a few minutes left, the guys were telling their teammates "Don't stop now! pour it on!"
Can you do a video focusing entirely on Jeff Fisher?
They did one on Nuff Said a couple years ago I think
How was he a coach for so long??? lmao
If they did, only half of it would be good. Because Jeff Fisher.
As a Rams fan I support this 100%

If there's one moment in this game that I'm obsessed with, it's 6:20, when the Patriots go for it on 4th down.
At that moment, the Pats were
-Up 52 to zero
-With 5 minutes left
-In the 4th quarter
And they went for it on fourth down. That's just mean.
Well this was the 2009 Pats, if it was 07 Belichick would have said "if they can't stop us why should we do their job for them?" Lol
Yes, this is an older video, but as a Houstonian it makes me smile. My late father never forgave Bud Adams for moving the Oilers to Tennessee, a decision that left us to suffer through the Texans.
NONE of us have forgiven Bud Adams, and it won't happen until Houston gets the rights to the Oilers back since we kinda got royally screwed there. Also the Texans game last week with them whooping on Tennessee was glorious XD

I remember watching this game after the Steelers game ended. To Belichick's credit, he did try to run out the clock. The Patriots were just that good, and the Titans were just that bad.
Best Jim Nantz quote from that game (with Patriots having a 45-0 lead near halftime): "And the worst part about all this? New England gets the ball to start the 2nd half."
Good god. How did that team go 8-2 after that?
Zeus Odinson If memory serves correctly, the Titans had a bye week after that game and Jeff Fisher spent the time showing the team slides of the late Steve McNair (he was murdered on 4th of July of 2009). Also, Collins was benched for VY and the rest is history.
@@gatienlaurol5793 That includes the Vince Young 99-yard walk-off against Arizona.
This was part of a two- or three-year stretch in which Jeff Fisher started either Collins or Young and the team absolutely stunk, then switched to the other guy midseason and they did fantastic. It was a very strange time.

Oh, and for the record, Jimmy retired the day after the game, and Marino retired afterwards.
that's a lesser point differential, plus there was already a video made on it
Hence the "Been there, done that."
Absolutely...not by number, but in context, this is definitely the worst blowout. Marino threw their one score before halftime, when it was already 41-0, and they benched him anyway. The Pats did this to everyone that season, until it ended poorly/awesomely (perspective). You compound that with the Dolphins stomping ushering in the Jay Fiedler, Dave "Halfstache" Wannstedt era, it was like Black Tuesday before the Great Depression. The Titans crawled to 8-8, and we had a brief window where it seemed like Vince Young was gonna be fun

Came here after watching Ernie on Edelman's podcast. Pats were far more prepared for the conditions than Tennessee and had the right equipment on while the Titans were completely unprepared so their players couldn't really move all that well. Apparently Ernie told the Tennessee equipment manager that they're about to get destroyed before the game after seeing what equipment they had on.

Losing Jim Swartz killed us smh. Not just Albert. Chuck Cecil was terrible minus the season opener.
You run up the score 59 to 0 and even if it takes 10 years, Titans got their revenge.
What I hate more than teams letting up on an opponent is when coaches don’t let a player pad their record breaking stats. Take mitch Trubisky who for the most part sucks, but in a game vs the bucs in 2018 he had 6 TD passes with over 10 minutes left in the third. Not the fourth, the THIRD! with a minute and a half left in the second quarter coach Nagy decided to settle for a field goal and take victory formation instead of letting trubisky get another TD. The all time record is 7 and trubisky could’ve easily scored 8 if not 10 in one game, but the coach didn’t care about stats so he pulled trubisky and the bears just ran the ball and clock out in the second half. Pissed me off so much
I have to disagree with this video, Chicago holds the record for the worst blowout,

Keep this series going please
Cardinals worst blow out was to the seahawks in 2012 when the hawks killed us 58-0.. but to be honest (as a cardinals fan) that was our greatest game ever, because Weisenheimer got fired
I think the 73-0 beating that the Bears gave the Redskins in the 1940 NFL Championship game was a bigger blowout. The NFL didn't start with the Super Bowl era.
I remember exactly where I was when this game kicked off.
Oh how the times have changed...
This blowout is great I dunno what you're talking about
It sucks when record setting performances are hindered because players are taken out. Same thing happened in 2014 when Rodgers threw 6 first half touchdowns against Da Bears and got pulled after that. But idk if he would've thrown as many touchdowns as Brady if they both had played the full game.
Then when a player gets hurt like a Brady for garbage time, the coach would be to blamed
