    Although not completely flawless, this show had some really amazing and graceful moments. The time when Clark saved the fisherman when the bridge collapsed and the way the fisherman appreciated him felt honestly breathtaking for me at least not because Superman's strength but due to the void of someone as inspiring as him may be needed to help the world in circumstances where nothing can't be done.

      For me this is one of the best superman adaptation since 1978´s adaptation from Richard Donner. It has his flaws but this is the best "origin of superman" episode since 1978. CW is doing an amazing job on this one I´m impressed

    • @inabyss
      @inabyss 3 года назад +8

      Yes. The show has a beautiful cinematography and looks very much like a movie. Tbh, Tyler portrayed Superman much better than Henry Cavil simply due to the fact that Tyler brings that awesome positivity and charm to his character and personality. Like as Clark he seems very humble, gentle, modest, and acts nothing like Superman. Henry Cavil as Clark didn't work in the same way. His version of Clark felt a bit brooding and somewhat weirdly serious. Imo Tyler portrayed both Superman and Clark very finely. But then again Cavil's Superman was very much inspired by Nolan's Dark Knight triology.

    This series shows what no other (movie picture) has done before.
    Clark is human through and through. He loves being human, and he is not going to exchange that for any superpower in the universe. He will choose any burden in the universe to keep his humanity intact.
    That's the central story of superman. The story that today's writers can't get into:
    Clark is a philosopher who lives its believes. He wants to be the best as he can be.
    He's a god who chooses to be the best human he can possibly be.

    As someone who used to watch George Reeves version in reruns (yeh, I'm that old), it struck me that you can always tell a great concept when it's open to different versions and interpretations and that all of them in their own way, have great takes on the characters and mythology. To those who are not enjoying this approach and these two actors, I'm sorry you're not into it. This series' approach needed people who are "down-to-earth" and it found it in these two great actors. Their pauses and timing are on par with movie acting, as opposed to typical TV acting delivery (especially the usual WB fare) where the actors are clearly indicating their speaking lines written by others instead of thinking of it at that moment. And their chemistry is great - I can really believe these two would marry.

    By far the best Superman there has ever been. The characters, the writing, the relationships. Superman beyond his formative years, as an older version of himself comfortable and capable in his powers, but still trying to find his footing as a father.

      I agree. Just wanted to add also that I feel that has always been the weakness with Lois, especially during the Christopher Reeves era. I felt that Annette Haven’s Lana was in love with Clark while Margot Kidder’s Lois was in love with Superman. And I’ve always felt that Clark was the real person and Superman was just his job. Therefore I felt that Lois was not in love with the real person. Having said that, I also can’t knock her too much as the Clark outside of Smallville was not the real Clark either, as he is not as bumbling and clumsy when he is being himself at home.

He in turn deeply has become so much better for knowing Lois Lane.
    Lane & Kent the secret of their lives is their years together can't believe its been nearly 80 years in comics from the first time in Perry Whites office to the present day a love affair of two who deserves a celebration of history I mean a special episode perhaps from their original meeting a journey back in time to the very beginning much like the old TV series of the 50s? It is time to reflect on their past?

    So my question is, does Clark keep a chunk of Blue Kryptonite in his bedroom or under the bed so he can have normal intimacy with Lois (or any girl his been with)? It is the Kryptonite that basically nullifies his powers and renders him to be like any other human, and since it is not permanent, when he leaves the room his back to his normal state. It doesn't hurt him so it makes sense...

    • @74Spyderman
      @74Spyderman 3 года назад +1

      That would be a really bad idea. Red kryptonite has an unpredictable variety of effects on Superman. Losing his powers is only one. It’s changed his personality, making him lose his inhibitions or giving him temporary insanity. It’s split him into good and evil versions of Superman. It’s even turned him into other stuff as well like a dragon etc. I think you are thinking of the effects of a red sun.

    • @EternalRoman
      @EternalRoman 3 года назад +3

      @@74Spyderman You're thinking of Blue Kryptonite. Blue K is the one that messes with his inhibitions and personality, look it up, it's even been parodied in the Bad Days animated series. Red K is the one that only renders him powerless like a red sun.

    • @74Spyderman
      @74Spyderman 3 года назад +2

      @@EternalRoman I just looked it up and you are wrong. Blue K has usually only affected Bizarro Superman in most instances. But where Red K is concerned it’s had a variety of different effects in the comics and shows.

      Television can explore the depth of character more than they can in movies. Most tv series get around 6-7 seasons building character arcs. You can’t dedicate that amount of time to characters unless you go down the road of the MCU for example.

      na its good they are shutting it down. Early episodes and seasons were great, but they lost focus and the plot and episodes have been all over the place, and often not good. Lower budget and such have had actors leave, effects downgraded into sometimes just laughable, and overall you can feel the energy of the show leaving. First couple seasons, great. Later ones, especially with the visually and laughably bad Doomsday.

      My personal (ugh) "head-canon", not backed up by any Superman media I've ever consumed (that I know of), is that, along with being very good at acting differently, Clark has unconscious mental powers that affect the way people perceive him. Not mind control, just, y'know, he wants Superman and Clark to be seen as separate, so they are. I know if you think about it too hard it probably falls apart, but parsing the logic of how ANYTHING works in superhero stories is kind of ridiculous, honestly.
