Had the awesome honor of having Sandy Bull as a dinner guest in Athens Ga circa 1973 when he played the Last Resort. Heard him first in 1967 on friends portable record player.Listening now on my new(Christmas present) ANC Bluetooth headphones. My how times have changed
He was like an American Davy Graham. Besides their innovative guitar styles and their incorporation of Middle Eastern and Indian motifs into their music, it seems that Bull and Graham shared similar personal problems. What a shame that this music isn't better known. Thanks for making it available!
...My Now wife brought this record all Th' way from California in 1979 When I met Her & We moved in together.. We got married in 2001 for Tax porposes..& Love..
Sandy was a genius,,,knew the source code,,,,,if you like Sandy please check out Peter Walker ,Robbie Basho and John Fahey,,,,,for an electric amalgam of all of this listen to Jimmy Page play "White Summer",,, Yes I believe Sandy inspired Mike Bloomfield to play East West After all Mike managed a folk music club in Chi town called the Fickle Pickle,,,I am sure there were a lot of LPs around to kick back and listen to and this was one of them,,,,,
It's called that because Bull combined jazz improvisations, raga syncopations, Arabic chords and folk melodies into one piece. It's like a psychadelic piece, but 2 years before that genre was actually born.
This is really awesome music. But about name of this: Blend mean that is blend of rhytms, melodies,... or this mean that this song is medley from several his songs. I dont know. Someone know what is right?
Um...if you listen to enough traditional Arabic oud taqsims, as well as Persian tar and sehtar recordings with a good bunch of jazz with middle eastern influences, you'll like this a lot less. I know Sandy has quite a following, and I was one of the followers until I went to the source...so this is seriously lacking for me these days.

This is what I love about RUclips. Getting reacquainted with some great music I listened to in the 60-70's. Next is John Fahey.
I saw them both back then, glad for the memories.

This is one guy on a guitar with one drummer- correct? Recorded in 1963? It sounds immense and is years ahead of its time. Amazing.
was then and is now
Sin duda una de las grandes influencias en el desarrollo del rock en mediados de la decada
I was introduced to this by my oldest brother (in absentia) who was away at college. It was 1964.

Psychedelic indeed. You can here Quicksilver Messenger Service, Country Joe, Butterfield blues band's "East/West" in there...but he was first.

This guy is amazing if you have never heard anyone play an oud.
Any specific recommendations?
@@simoncadavid3827 Sure. Naseer Shamma, Rahim AlHaj, Hazem Shaheen are a few.
