I always noticed the “mother issues”. When you’re a child who loses your mother young.. you notice it anywhere it’s occurring, as well as how often it’s used in pop culture; not just Disney movies.

The Neverending Story has several traumatic moments, as the theme is largely Bastien's depression after his mother's death being told in fantasy. I think Rockbiter choosing to die by the Nothing is probably the most unsettling part of movie.

From what I remember reading about them too, it operates way more ethically than they did in the past. They do still run tests in mice and rats, but they can't run ethically or morally cruel tests on them anymore. And the subjects are much better taken care of, which, supposedly, changed a lot of data from that they got in the 80's cause they found out rats do experience depression.
But again, disclaimer here: It's just something I read a while back. There's probably someone out there with more accurate information ready to comment.

An American Tail came out when I was 8. I didn't understand why the mice and their human counterparts were being attacked in their homes, but it upset me because it seemed so random to me. They hadn't done anything wrong! I asked my dad why this was happening and that's when I was introduced to the concept of antisemitism, as well as discrimination, in general.

The power plant was called Chornobyl, NOT the city, which was called Pripyat. One can actually pay to go tour the exclusion zone, but not right now, of course. But several RUclipsrs have gone and documented their trips in travel vlogs on their channels, one of them is Kyle Hill. His videos include a tour of the plant, which shows the inside of the new containment building, the control room and other areas inside the plant, even a brief glimpse of the "Elephants foot" the highly radioactive slag that melted all the way down into the basement below the reactor.
And the exclusion zone isn't completely devoid of life, there are still a few humans that live inside it and refused to evacuate, there are also multiple types of animals that thrive in the zone, that are helping scientists study the long-term radiation effects, specifically snakes that have mini sensor packs on them and take reading both at ground level and up in tree branches when they climb up them.

I feel that a few of these might have been mentioned in previous videos.
An American Tail is one of my favorite movies that is not made by Disney. Did not pick up on the fact that it was anti semitic when I was a kid.
In Wizard Of Oz they also used asbestos in the scene where it it snows in the poppy field scene. They did the same thing for the snow in White Christmas.

  • @frankclemence1681

So many times that conversation has come up among Disney loving friends and none of them see the E, they all saw F except one guy who saw perversions everywhere anywhere, including pointing out consistently that with only o e “real man” in the pride, Simba and Nala were siblings who grew up and got married.

In response to the last comment in the “Bambi Complex” section: Legal and licensed hunting is an important part of a modern ecosystems survival.
I concede that it’s clearly not for everybody, and that’s totally ok. But without regulating, prey species become over populated; dangerously damaging plant life.
And although it seems counterintuitive, hunters are also stopping wildlife from dying in gruesome and inhumane ways. Keeping a managed population of species keeps wildlife from dying due to starvation, disease, and vehicle collisions.
Not to mention that any moral hunter either eats the meat that they’ve hunted, or donates it to populations in need. So there’s a clear social upside to it as well.
