You guys are so kind to have made a video based off of someone's question on another video.. and I learned something new! So cool bc my son's scooter has a very low idle. THANK YOU!!
You guys are great I just buy a new scooter 2 week ago then start turn off but I learned today from you and am not going see mechanic but I will do it myself. Thanks for the video
when the wheel spins on idle tho its not enough to move you but it does mean that the clutch is in contact with the bell and that means wear. what i do is I run the engine cold, and when the enricher stops, it drops in a very low rpm, that's when i adjust it low enough that it doesn't stall after the enricher turns off.
All very new to the bike world and after spending over £500 and still having the same problems this video has solved the problem .. no idea why the garage didn't pick this up but I've one happy son now .. thank you 👍
If this works you are literally saving me. I have been to four mechanics already for this problem and they all say that there isn't anything wrong and that the problem is with how I'm stopping.... I will try this tonight!! Thank you!
Yes sir. It's a 150. I couldn't reach the screw, nor could I see if it was a torx, Phillips, or hex. So I took it to the local motorcycle shop in visalia ca. The guy said it was a 2.5mm hex. So he gave it a turn or two. Brought up the idle and away I went. (He didn't even charge me) I rode around town like i had been doing before. And after over an hour or so of riding in city traffic, making u turns and stopping at intersections.. The bike give me no more problems. 🤙🏾
Hey man just bumped into this I appreciate it so much I had to keep my hand on the throttle for a good minute getting home and doing this helped my scooter stay on well appreciated boss💪🏽🤞🏽
You saved my life just got a 2020 beast grom bike just yesterday and it started dying out on me ...mind you I. Don't know anything about bikes so I started to freak out 😂😂😂 but I came across your video and Wallaa just like that it stayed on
Yes, if your idle is indeed too high, this would help. However, other issues like a broken clutch, clutch spring, etc. could also cause the rear wheel to "stay engaged" and keep moving as well. But start by adjusting the idle and see if that helps, especially if your idle speed is revving very high.
Thank you, this fixed my problem! Interestingly enough, Honda Metropolitans have a tiny hole in the maintenance lid specifically for access to that screw!
Must be nice that this solved everyone else's problem with it. Mine however still stalled anytime I hit the back break whether I tightened or loosened it so what's the next reason it could be doing this.
Check your vacuum lines that run from the intake manifold to the fuel petcock and make sure there isn't a crack in them. Also make sure there isn't a crack in the intake manifold spacer that goes between the intake manifold and the head of the motor. Could be a crack somewhere.
Thks four your video I have a Peugeot V-Clic 50cc 4T from 2012 is same carburetor when I start up the idle is keep up and down up again and down is any reason ??? Thank you very much Jersey uk ❤
I have a brand new scooter and it dies as well at an idle or coming to a stop. We have adjusted the throtal and that doesn't help it. We have had nothing but issues from the get go. The automatic electric choke was burning out, magneto was not gapped properly, the company we purchased it from sent us a new carborator and everything. Do you have any idea what we should check before my boyfriend throws it in a ditch somewhere?
@@NewScooters4Less it's a VIP future champion. We finally figured it out though the valves needed to be adjusted. Now it works great. Funny but he actually got pulled over for going 45 on it when top speed with out a motorcycle license is 30😂
Ive got a 250cc scooter the other day I was riding it and it felt like it was running out of gas but it picked up started running but it doesn't have the acceleration like it did before that ordeal
My garage called that the throttle tension screw. They said that if you're tweaking t it to keep your scoot alive there's probably another issue! That's why once you've adjusted it, the engine doesn't die down as quickly as it did when you release the throttle. Maybe air leaks in the rubber manifold or the idle speed screw (on the side) isn't adjusted correctly.
The screw on the side (depending on the type of scooter) is usually a fuel / air mixture adjustment. With the idle screw (what I'm showing in the video), if you have to tighten it all the way down to keep it alive, there is definitely a problem. Like you suggested... a vacuum leak through the manifold, etc.

Great stuff ! Thank you ! My relatively new Piaggio scooter keeps dying out whenever I'm idle, I will try this when I get home ! I assume the screw simply gets a bit loose over time from all the bumps and shocks on the road.
No problem! It could come loose, but it's more likely that there are external factors leading to it... break-in of the vehicle / wear over time, warm / cool weather, etc.
@@NewScooters4Less Same thing with my brand new 2018 Bintelli Scorch that I got on November 19th, 2019. So I'm assuming it's either the warm/cold weather that keeps changing down here in St. Petersburg, FL, it breaking in, since it's coming near 500 miles, but currently at 450 miles, or my carb cleaned or replaced.
@@JovanteeBlair In this instance, probably breaking in. Your unit is so new that adjusting it and fine-tuning in the first 500 miles is pretty normal. Thanks!

what about the opposite. so mine works well cold, picks up very quickly. but after 2 mins then the bike bogs , i then have to fether the throttle up to it gets to a higher or around 20mph speed then works fine. please get back to me if you get yhe chance. many thanks, rich
Hey! We do not, but is it shaking uncontrollably or just a little bit. Usually this is due to a bent steering column. Did you run into a curb somewhere? Does it turn side to side ok or is it sticky or tough to turn the steering column?
Hi mate, I have a Peugeot vivacity 9/02 can not get started, have got spark and fuiel, can not find how to check valves or were the cover is, it was running 2 year’s ago but would conk out after running awhile, now trying to use it again, can you help, I’m thinking it may have sticking valves?? Regards Chris
I'd assume it's carburetor related, especially if it's been sitting that long. I am not familiar with that scooter though, so I would recommend getting it into a shop close to you. Thank you!
I have the exact same problem with my scooter, except mine has fuel injection, not a carburetor. What should I do with it? And it's not just when it's cold, it happens all the time for me. I check the engine, and don't think that there is an idle adj screw like the one in this video.
I jus bought a new scooter yesterday. Engine bogs down and cuts out all the time, especially when i indicate or have lights on. Freakin annoying. Jus soent a grand on a faulty bike on gumtree, feels bad man.
WIth it being that new, I'd take it back where you bought it. If it bogs down when you use indicators, etc. then it's probably an electrical problem. I would start diagnosing by checking all your ground wires first to make sure none of them are broken.
hi, i didnt use my scooter this winter, and now, when its on the stand its starts but when i leave it down it will just cut out, i kept it running on the stand a few minutes to warm up but then it was doing the same, do you know what it could be??
Is a vacuum line or fuel line getting pinched by something when it comes off the center stand? I would check your lines to make sure they aren't caught up in a shock or something.
@@NewScooters4Less even if the scooter is not running and is not on stand it dosent start, i was thinking is something to do with the wheal being in the ground and not being able to spin..
@@sarahmulqueen9014 I'm not sure I understand. If it's starting and the wheel won't spin and feels stuck, you could have a broken clutch spring or another transmission problem.
@@NewScooters4Less sorry about that english is my second language, the wheal is spinning when is on the stand, but when i leave it down the engine just stops, and its a 125 cc twist and go there's no clutch, its ok nevermind i think i need a mechanic to check it properly, thank you
@@sarahmulqueen9014 Not a problem. If the wheel is spinning when it is on the stand, the idle may be turned up a tad bit high. There is a clutch, but it's a CVT transmission (meaning it's automatic, aka - twist and go). I would definitely get it into a shop when you can! Good luck!
I have an opposite case. The idle is slightly high and my scooter is pushing forward in idle. So I tried adjusting that screw by unscrewing it as far as it could. But that's not bringing down the rev. What's the problem?
Is your throttle cable too short? Did you recently replace that? You should be able to adjust the cable some too at the throttle handle and on the carb. It could be pulling to much on the carb (giving it too much gas)
So today I’m going to buy myself a gilera runner 180 vx witch is the 4stroke version the bike starts up fine and rides nice but once I come to a stop it dies out but will start back up and go again also the bike seems to back fire and crackle and pop I was thinking if not the idle maybe I should try clean or change spark plug and old oil?
Probably fuel and air mixture is off. I don't know anything about that bike, but I would look at spark plug, carb, air filter, vacuum lines and make sure everything is good there.
Does it have a carburetor? Can you make this adjustment made in the video? Also check for vacuum leaks (cracks in the vacuum lines, crack in the intake manifold, etc.)
Fairly new apriliia storm scooter. Engines dies when throttle is pulled. But doesnot have any problem once it gets warmed up. Will this solve the issue. It happens everyday when trying to start the scooter.
Check the fuel-air mixture. Some scooters have a screw to adjust. You may be able to adjust the needle in the carb or you may be able to adjust how much air is being sucked into the air filter. Sounds like an adjustment there will help.
My issue: Where you have it on the center stand it idles fine, but the back wheel is moving. When I hit the rear brake, then it dies out. It's like the power from the motor never disengages from the back wheel. Thoughts?
Is your concern that the back wheel is moving when it is on the center stand? (As long as the scooter doesn't feel like it is pushing you when it is on the ground,) it's ok for the back wheel to move a little bit when on the center stand because when it is on the ground, it won't. Does that make sense? (Think about it like a car... When you take your foot off the brake in a car and it is in Drive, it wants to creep forward. Your foot on the brake is keeping it from moving forward. It's similar with a scooter... when your scooter is off the center stand and on the ground, the brake and your body weight keep the scooter from moving forward (unless of course the idle is too too high and the scooter feels like it is pushing your forward when idling)). Hope that helps!
Oh it’s definitely pushing me. It jerks the whole scooter with each stroke of the motor until it dies. I’ve adjusted the carb with the same symptoms. That’s why I wonder if it’s the transmission assembly
@@93paxon I'm almost willing to bet it is 100%! Sounds like the clutch may still be engaged when you are at a stop. Probably a popped spring on the clutch assembly! Definitely check that out!
You can see fluctuations in idle due to temperatures for sure. Some scooters are worse than others (cheap models). The warmer the motor, usually the higher it's going to idle.
You have a different problem. Could be a vacuum leak / issue. Could be something internal with the carb. Could be an airflow problem. Could possibly be electrical too. Sorry! May need to have someone look at it :(
HELLO PLZ HELP ! when i start mine , it doesnt a actually keep that rev ... in about 4 seconds it allways die out when stoped ... SO can it be screwing it up a little when its OFF then see if it fixed ??? and is it propubly coz the battery thats dying? or a some dirty in the carb???? thnx a lot

Please help, I'm not getting any gas to stay into the carburetor, in order to fuel the motor . have tried another carb as well. Does the same thing..., please reply..,
If you aren't getting fuel to the carburetor, then you may have an issue in the vacuum system or fuel pump. Make sure there are no cracks in your vacuum lines and then replace the fuel petcock that attaches the fuel tank to the fuel lines and filter. It could be faulty.
So.i did this and found it still wasn't staying on I went to the throttle cable on the carb and now it revs wayyyyy to high and if I even move the screw it dies down if I adjust it ... What am I doing wrong or what do I need to adjust instead the cable back more slack or tight ? And loosen the bold more ? I'm at a loss going 30 mph with 100 cc
Hi, I have a concern in my scooter. Every time I slow down to turn or ride across a hump on a road, my sccoter will suddenly have a slight burst in speed. Is there any fix to this? I tried adjusting the idle speed but it's still doing the same speed bursting
Hmmmm... maybe a vacuum / air problem. Check your vacuum lines to make sure they aren't getting pinched by a shock or something when you turn. Also make sure none of the lines are interfering with your throttle cable on your carburetor.
So we changed the idle but our issue is it’ll start on the stand but struggles on the ground. (Resistance on the wheel) we’re thinking maybe something with the clutch? It dies anytime there’s resistance on the rear wheel ie body weight, brakes
Yes. You could have a broken spring on the clutch or another similar issue. I would definitely pull the transmission casing off and look at that clutch and transmission.
@@NewScooters4Less After I sent this I pulled the cover off and found the issues. The ceramic pads for the clutch were all broken and pieces were everywhere. Ordered a new clutch and transmission assembly that I will be putting on later today!
For me? It seem to be a different problem.. As if the Starter clutch or drive clutch is sticking when I hit the brake. My scoot stops as soon as the wheel stops?
Have you opened the transmission casing and looked inside? Maybe a broken spring in there on the clutch or something. Should be able to pop off the case and take a look around.
I have tightened this adjustment screw so much that I can not go further. However, the engine still dies out when idle. Can you please give me some hints to solve the problem?
It could be a few things... It could be a bad carburetor, issues with the jets in the carb, or something like a vacuum leak. What kind of scooter is it? You might want to replace the carburetor all together. Some are cheap enough to where it makes sense to do that. Good luck!
@@e-wave8247 Email our service department a picture of your scooter at service@NS4L.com and they can email you the cost of a carburetor that would work. I would replace the carb and clean out the fuel system. Hopefully that will do the trick for you. If you have a local shop, I'd probably get it in there if possible.
I just replaced the battery in my Vespa 150 after a long time in storage and it still stalls out after starting right up if I let it idle. I hope this is the fix. About to go try.
Yay! it worked. I am not driving it as it is not registered or insured but it ran idle long enough for me to go get my mail and more do it is ready for sale.
I was having the problem of riding for 3-4 miles and then the moment i stop accelerating my scooter turns off. So i did what u recommended here and its working now, but could it be that now i have way too high idle ? My scooter sometimes starts moving with no acceleration and my fuel consumption went up like crazy? Could lowering help or you would recommend something else ?
Yes. Turning up the idle delivers more fuel to the engine to keep it running, so if it is turned up too much it will burn more fuel and it will start moving with no accelerator being turned. I would recommend turning it down. Sometimes you have to find that sweet spot between it being too low and dying out and being too high.
I have a 4 stroke scooter and when I start it everything is going alright but after 5 or 6 minute everytime i'm going to stop at a stop sign, my scooter turn off what's the probleme since I don't have a idle screw?
What size engine? 50cc? What brand of scooter is it? Does it start right back up or are you having trouble restarting it when it cuts out? Does your gas gauge, blinkers or anything electrical give out too or do you still have electrical power? Give me some more info please.

Hello sir what about when I reduce speed and the moped shuts off ? Is that normal ? I just bought it new and started riding it today thank you in advance
When I turned this screw on mine, I know I used to be able to make it so my idle rpm was high enough to get my wheel turning, but lately with the screw turned up completely, my idle is only about 1200 rpm, which is nearly enough to keep the scooter running, but sometimes not quite.
I had that problem, to solve it I set the air/fuel mixture screw 1-1/2 turns out and then the idel at 1900rpm when cold, after warmup rpm is at 1900~2300 problem solved.
Mine has this problem won’t idle and drives nice when I’m on it but soon as I let off the revs bogs out .. my bike does not have an idle screw so what then
Does it have a carburetor? Sounds like it may be fuel injected? I'd try to get it into a shop nearby to see what's going on. Sorry we can't be more help with this one!
I have a Chinese 50cc scooter. I just bought it it runs while holding the accelerator then dies 5 seconds after letting it go. I’m thinking spark plug. What you think the problem is? Oh it’s been sitting about 4 years I have cleaned the carb and flushed out old gas and got it to run
You are still having fuel system issues. In this case, it is usually less time and money for you to replace the fuel system. I would drain all fuel, clean and recoat the fuel tank if necessary to make sure there is no rust inside of it, replace the fuel line, fuel filter, fuel petcock, carburetor, and spark plug. I'd also replace the vacuum line because I imagine it is rotted and prone to leaks.
So what having a similar problem but not when stopping so basically everything all fine but when I turn my steering all the way or even half way to the left it cuts the moped off what would be making it doe that as I use my moped to go to my little brother grave from time to time only way I I’ve to get there and to check on him
Check your ignition wiring. When you turn the steering, it is probably pulling on the wiring and causing the ignition and/or kill switch to function which is cutting it off. I'd bet it is something in that wiring up front by the steering. Also check the wiring for any cuts, tears, etc. in case something is rubbing the frame and shorting out (but my guess is that you would be popping fuses if that was happening).
@ thank u so much new to this stuff are do all the checks u just told me to do in abit Is only a old Yamaha vitty so shouldn’t be that hard if is what your saying it is thank u again for the help
What if I do this and it doesn’t work, when I higher the acceleration the wheels move to much and when I lower it just sounds like it’s going to die again, there’s no in between with mine, maybe battery ?
Scooters have an automatic choke that helps with this in those first few minutes, but I find them to be ineffective sometimes based on certain climates (how cold it is outside, etc.) I always think it's a good idea to let the scooter warm up for a couple minutes, but we live in Florida and when we go outside in summer, the scooter is already warmed up, lol. If your idle is too low and your scooter is dying every time you stop, turn it up a tad. Just don't turn it up too high.
Mine idles high at a cold start and then after awhile slowly dies down until it turns off this is without touching the throttle but if I touch the throttle I can keep it does a misfire little bit and I'm thinking that's a spark plug issue but I'm not sure what's your guy's is your adVice
Depending on what kind of scooter it is, it probably has an electric choke attached to the carburetor and that is why it slows down after it has been running. Is it only doing the little 'misfire' after you first start it? May want to give the scoot a couple minutes to warm up. If it is misfiring while all the time, then you could have a spark plug issue, but it could be a few different things. I'm not sure where you live, but maybe just let the scooter warm up for a few minutes before going and see if that helps.
Hi please I have tried adjusting like you sai but is not working for my kymco scooter is either I higher it if I try lowering anytime my hands let go off the gas then it automatically go off what could be the solution
You probably have a different issue. My guess would be a vacuum leak somewhere. Check your vacuum lines, intake manifold, and make sure that there are no cracks where air could be escaping. Thanks!

Ok, I adjusted my idle for my moped but it still stops. Am I suppose to let it warm up before I take off? Is it because the engine is cold? I'm still a bit lost
Yes. Please let it warm up. That will probably help a ton and help a ton more if you live in a colder climate. The scooters do have an automatic choke which helps, but it's still WAY better if you let it warm up. Thanks!
I have a similar issue except that the idle on my scooter increases after lowering it . I’ll lower the idle so that the scooter doesn’t pull forward but once I give it throttle the idle revs higher and stays there along with the back wheel constantly turning. I have to constantly adjust the idle lower and it’s super annoying. Any suggestions as to what to do or how to fix it? What could be the cause? Thanks!
@@jarodhuber2687 The throttle isn't getting stuck open some how, right? Also, check the vacuum lines, intake manifold, and intake manifold spacer (between the manifold and engine) for cracks. My Chinese scooter has had this problem before, was fixed by a mechanic but now doing it again. The mechanic said something about an air filter getting wet or blocked and you can tell when the engine sounds very quiet there’s an issue. It has had trouble starting too but strangely enough starts easier with the front brake pressed rather than the rear brake ?!
The brake thing is probably just a brake switch issue. If your carburetor is gunked up, fuel may be getting down into the air filter and soaking into the air filter which most certainly keep your scooter from starting. You would need to remove the air filters, clean it, let it dry out, clean the carb and put back together again.
New Scooters 4 Less thanks. It’s due a service soon anyway so I’ll let them take a look, he did attach an extension to the mudflap previously in order to stop so much water/gunk getting into the air filter so it could be connected to that. However temperamental it is to start, once I’ve ridden the 15miles to work if I turn off the engine then restart, it fires up just fine even with back brake depressed. Anyway I guess I’m doing ok from a budget Chinese scooter having done 15.000km in 18 months having never ridden before at the age of 43 :) ! Oh and not fallen off - yet !
New Scooters 4 Less yes it is a four-stroke. I’m not sure if he adjusted the valves last time but if he did it’s 6months ago. I’ll take it in for another service soon but at least it’s going for now and once it’s been running a while it seems fine. :)
I have italika motor D125 in any weather when i turn on the scooter the battery makes a sound and wont turn on,so i need to kick start the scooter what seems to be the problem??
Does the battery work well in the warm weather? Could be cold-cranking amps in the cold. Could be tight valves and need an adjustment. Could be a variety of things, but a valve adjustment is probably what I would look at first.

No quick fix. Sounds like there is water in the system that is causing issues. Is the water in the oil or the gas? Sounds like it is in the gas if it is coming out of the carburetor. I would remove and clean the carburetor, replace the fuel lines and fuel filter, and drain all the watery fuel out of the fuel tank... try the tank out and then put it all back together with high-octane fuel back in the tank. Gotta get that water out of the system.

You adjusted it by turning up the idle? I would dive into other areas of the scooter. Check for vacuum leaks, cracks in fuel / air system, clean/replace air filter, etc. Sounds like some fine tuning is in need. Have your replaced the spark plug? Pull the plug and see what color it is.
I’ve tried this on my 125cc moped and it didn’t work as good so I cleaned the carb to see if that worked still didn’t work it’s a 2022 plate so I’m not sure it also loose power
Tightening if you need the idle to go up. Loosening if you need it to go down. If your scooter is dying when you come to a stop, you’d tighten it a tad.

Happy to hear it!
Check the air filter also to make sure it's getting enough airflow? Then re-adjust the idle?
Sometimes you can have an air leak, vacuum leak, etc. Definitely make sure your airflow is good too. Then, yes. If all is good. Tune the idle.
Hay
Nice video
My problem is my ped wants to keep pushing when I stop . Would turning the idle screw down help me ?
Yes, if your idle is indeed too high, this would help. However, other issues like a broken clutch, clutch spring, etc. could also cause the rear wheel to "stay engaged" and keep moving as well. But start by adjusting the idle and see if that helps, especially if your idle speed is revving very high.
Thank you, this fixed my problem! Interestingly enough, Honda Metropolitans have a tiny hole in the maintenance lid specifically for access to that screw!
Yep! :)
That's really helpful to know! I've been having this problem with my metropolitan and I'm at a loss for what to do!

What kind of scooter is it?
@@NewScooters4Less it's a VIP future champion. We finally figured it out though the valves needed to be adjusted. Now it works great. Funny but he actually got pulled over for going 45 on it when top speed with out a motorcycle license is 30😂
@@jessicayoung6822 Yep! That can definitely create a problem! So glad to hear you got it figured out! (Slow down! Lol!)
Ive got a 250cc scooter the other day I was riding it and it felt like it was running out of gas but it picked up started running but it doesn't have the acceleration like it did before that ordeal
Sorry to hear that. Probably a fuel or air issue. I'd get it to a tech when you can.
My garage called that the throttle tension screw. They said that if you're tweaking t
it to keep your scoot alive there's probably another issue!
+New Scooters 4 Less I believe the keihin carbs fitted to modern piaggio scooters have the air/fuel mix on the under side of the carb.

Obviously yours is completely different but I'd say there's a lot of people with one of these in their bikes.
Vacuum leak possibly. Check for cracks in the vacuum line, intake manifold, intake manifold gaskets/spacers.
Does EFI scooter have an idle screw like a carburetor? I have a Lance Cabo 200i that does out every once in a while.
It does not. We work primarily with 50cc scooters, so I am not sure if there are any adjustments that could be made to the cabo 200i. Sorry!
Question does turning the idle screw up mess with the performance of it when u ride the bike or nah
It can to a degree. For example, if it is too high you are burning more fuel when just sitting at idle.
Also what valve lashes should my scooter have? It’s a 50cc taotao scooter. I have it .004 IN and .005 EX. It’s super tappy and loud.
.003 and .005
Do you have a video to help with a 50cc moped front wheel/ steering shaking when reaching 30-35 mph?
Unfortunately, I think you might need to get this one into a shop for a proper diagnosis :(
I jus bought a new scooter yesterday.

Awesome! Glad it helped!
Hey, I have the same problem with Yamaha Neos 2009 4 stroke engine, how to solve this?
Do you know if I can do this on a 2008 Sym Symply? Has a low idle but I'll try this tomorrow and see if it had the screw
If it's a 50cc, it should have an idle adjustment. If it's 2-stroke, it may look different, but it should still have one.
How about fuel injection scooter...? The engine stall when stop at the stop sign..
Sorry. I would need to look at it in my shop. :/
Simple fix to my great worries about my new scoot 😂thanks
Glad we were able to relieve a little worry for you! :)
Is this problem related with any weather change?
You can see fluctuations in idle due to temperatures for sure. Some scooters are worse than others (cheap models). The warmer the motor, usually the higher it's going to idle.
Hey I have a 4stroke motofino 150cc. It starts and idles fine but when go to accelerate it bogs down and shuts off. Any suggestions?
Fuel air mixture? Probably getting too much of one or the other. It probably has a fuel / air mixture screw you can adjust.
What do I do when it’s maxed out the screw it turned all the way and the idle is still rough and it stalls out
You have a different problem. Could be a vacuum leak / issue. Could be something internal with the carb. Could be an airflow problem. Could possibly be electrical too. Sorry! May need to have someone look at it :(
What can cause this problem though as my scooter has been running perfectly up till this started.
Thanks.
You could have a vacuum leak. Check vacuum hoses, etc. to make sure there are no cracks, etc.

Could be a vacuum leak. Look for cracks in the vacuum hose or the intake manifold. I'd start there.
How about if you don't want to adjust it to above 4000rpm idle just to keep running 🤔. How do you fix to keep 2000rpm when it wants to die out?
Maybe set at 3000 rpm? I think it's just finding a nice medium.

Hi, I have a concern in my scooter. Every time I slow down to turn or ride across a hump on a road, my sccoter will suddenly have a slight burst in speed. Is there any fix to this? I tried adjusting the idle speed but it's still doing the same speed bursting

I'm not familiar with that scooter. Is it fuel injected? If so, it wouldn't have this.

It could be a few things... It could be a bad carburetor, issues with the jets in the carb, or something like a vacuum leak. What kind of scooter is it? You might want to replace the carburetor all together. Some are cheap enough to where it makes sense to do that. Good luck!

Will this help with a scooter that is bogging down at wide open throttle?
No. I wouldn't think so. You probably have a fuel / air mixture issue going on.
Check the rollers, there might be dirt too.

New Scooters 4 Less ok thanks I’m going to change the carb and spark plug the other things I already did I forgot to mention

It happens twice to me, I usually don't wram up my sccoter, do I have to warm it up for 10 minutes?
My rear tire always spins even with the idle adjustment to low any idea how to fix this?
Is it spinning fast? If it's spinning really slow, it's not a big deal.
Hi please I have tried adjusting like you sai but is not working for my kymco scooter is either I higher it if I try lowering anytime my hands let go off the gas then it automatically go off what could be the solution

Usually when it does that its because you might need some valves adjustment.
Thanks!
Idk, but it seems my idle is pretty normal. But my real wheel rotate fast. Any advise sir?
Clutch spring could be broken causing it to stay engaged? That's the only thing I could think of if you don't have carb or vacuum-related issues.
I have a similar issue except that the idle on my scooter increases after lowering it . @@NewScooters4Less I think so, if I keep the throttle open it won't stall, it doesn't seem to be under power, the bike moves as fast as a want it to. I have put fuel cleaner tho it to make sure nothing is blocked to much or dirty, about to fill it back up.
@@MrStitty26 Is it bogging and dying or is it just shutting off while driving? It could be losing spark while driving. May not be the spark plug, but could be coil, cdi, stator, etc.
@@NewScooters4Less it will only stall on idle so at light or when a have stopped, when i keep the throttle open it run great, one thing that dose happen is when i take of the accelerator it sounds like a bag off popcorn in the micro wave. also had a look today and noticed that there wasn't a cdi unit under the seat but the connector is there for it, but id imagine it wouldn't run at all without one. dose have an ecu under the tank as well.

@@davidwil58 May also need a valve adjustment. Have you had that done recently? It is a 4-stroke scooter right?
New Scooters 4 Less yes it is a four-stroke. I’m not sure if he adjusted the valves last time but if he did it’s 6months ago. I’ll take it in for another service soon but at least it’s going for now and once it’s been running a while it seems fine. :)
@@davidwil58 Sounds good! Stay safe!
I have italika motor D125 in any weather when i turn on the scooter the battery makes a sound and wont turn on,so i need to kick start the scooter
what seems to be the problem??
Does the battery work well in the warm weather? Could be cold-cranking amps in the cold. Could be tight valves and need an adjustment. Could be a variety of things, but a valve adjustment is probably what I would look at first.
thank very much its will help to check my cygnus it is died whem i stop
Awesome. Glad we could help.
Thank you so much for this. Really appreciate it.
Our pleasure! :)
I need some help with my Lance 125 Cabo it keeps spitting out oil water and gas from the little valve underneath that unscrews it stalls and then I have to go down there and tighten that little screw for it to start and keep running now it's done this today alone like 5 times what's a quick fix for can you help
Gas
I run through 2 tank fills of 93 octane daily. Shouldn't it flush out by now?
@@Marct2626 You run through 2 tanks daily?! How far do you drive this thing? You may have a totally different issue going on. I would get it to a shop. Sorry!
@@NewScooters4Less I I doordash
I adjusted my scoot was stalling out acting up ran carb fuel cleaner and adjusted card now it doesnt stall but i can tellbits running rich gas smell and it goes through gas quick any ideas
@@NewScooters4Less checked air filter looks good next gonna check fuel filter and spark plug and lyk thanx for reply im newto the scoot life😎
@@vinngrizzle Anytime man! Welcome to the scooter family! :)
thank you, simple but informative.
Our pleasure!
I’ve tried this on my 125cc moped and it didn’t work as good so I cleaned the carb to see if that worked still didn’t work it’s a 2022 plate so I’m not sure it also loose power
Could be something else causing your issue. Do you have a shop you can take it to?
Am I tightening or loosing the screw?
Tightening if you need the idle to go up. Loosening if you need it to go down. If your scooter is dying when you come to a stop, you’d tighten it a tad.
