    Is it crazy that, as an African, I'm completely taken with such entertainers like the fabulous Bing Crosby, one of world's greatest comedians (in my opinion, Jack Benny, Gene Kelly, & many others of this era as I am with, say, the Jazz greats, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis & the equally beyond talented Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Harry Belafonte & too others too many to count? I enjoy Dennis Day, also, because I like Irish music & even various young African American rappers & a few country musicians. Wait. Can't forget the Man In Black, AKA, Johnny Cash. Or Sam Cooke, et., etc., etc. My eclectic taste is wild. People are surprised when I tell them about the kinds of music or class radio/tv shows I stream. This is the thing: Quality is quality. Also, I think my adventurous nature & artistic bent make me more open to different experiences. Life's richer this way. Now, if you'll all excuse me, I'll return to the amazing Bing C!

    Bing era un uomo molto discutibile nella vita reale. Fu crudele e cattivo con i suoi familiari e non mi ha mai ispirato simpatia! Fu solo molto fortunato!

    i always liked his voice but when i read how mean he was to his first 4 sons with 2 of them taking their own lives. And he was also mean to his first wife, the mother of his first 4 sons. That changed my mind. HE wasn't mean to his 2d wife & 3 more children. I always wondered WHY he hated Dixie & their 4 sons.

      Oh I don't know much about Bing at all, so I've never heard of this before. I think I'll take a look into it today. How terrible!

      his sons didn't kill themselves because of the way he raised them, most of gary's book was made up nonsense, and he certainly didn't hate Dixie.

    You know nobody is perfect and he was a big drinker when he was young.
    But he did a good job when he got a second chance.
    I say overall we are not here on earth to be perfect but to learn from our mistakes and do better.
    Bing did just that.

    As a entertainer he was one of the best as a first time husband and father truly one of the worst and cruelest ,but White Christmas will always be one of the greatest,but the Dixie and kids truly sad and meaning of a cruel heartless bastard.

    I'm surprised not even passing reference is made to the allegations of child abuse against him, but I guess it's not that kind of a show.

    • @mr.balloffur
      @mr.balloffur 8 лет назад +4

      +Tom Ripsin They didn't sling those types of allegations back then and doing so would have helped no one. Not the father, not the kids or Jack Haley Jr.

      @tomripsin8321 8 лет назад +2

      Actually, as a fan of classic radio drama, I can attest that they very definitely did report on the allegations against Mr. Crosby. I've heard ads for magazine interviews with his sons, & news reports on the same topic that even predate this documentary.

      Their career's would have been tainted if not over in the case of the kids not to mention the producer who's family where personal family friends of the Crosby family.It wasn't spoken about. This was about BC's career not what some of his kids allegedly said, no matter how scandalous it may have been.

      Cletus, this show aired in 1963, about 25 years before anyone had a clue there might have been child abuse. We still don't know for sure what happened and to what extent.

    Bing had a goodie shoe image. Nothing could be further from the truth. He had 5 sons with his first wife and he used to beat the hell out of them. Two committed suicide and I believe another one did too when he learned his father did not put any of them in his will.

    • @ep8324
