In order for Trump to win a third term, the 22nd ammendment would have to be ratified. This would be a very dangerous move for our country. If you haven't noticed(but I'm sure you have) our country is deeply divided. It is a strong, powerful and very real thing. Ratifying the 22nd ammendment so POTUS could run for a third term is the end of America. The 22nd ammenment was created by Republicans 7 years after FDR ran for a fourth term. He ran and won because almost everyone loved him(obviously not Republicans) but it was literally World War 2. Right now, we are at war with each other. This video felt to me like manipulation- trying to get people to accept the idea of POTUS running a third term- while the country is deeply divided like this, it's like they're throwing it in our faces day in and day out and trying to rile us up. In the constitution, under the powers of the president, there is no term limit stated. When the constitution was first drafted, a president could run as many terms as he wanted (or rather how many the people wanted). George Washington ran for only two terms. It automatically became a custom to only run two terms and every president (save one) has followed that custom. After FDR ran a third term, everyone agreed that putting a 2 term limit on the president was a good idea. Congress passed an amendment to limit the terms from the point of FDR leaving office. Since the term limit was added through an amendment, it would be easy for Congress to repeal the same amendment to allow future presidents to run for more that 2. If the people wanted a 3rd term and convinced Congress to repeal the amendment, we could actually push Trump through more than 2 terms. There is nothing standing in the way of that being done.
