I was used to watch Herbie when i was a messy child, glad that despite the time has run and i got adult i'm still into this crazy beetle! wish i could drive it
The first I saw this movie I was only a child. My Mom worked for Nelson C White Co. And they had Disney movies. She showed it on the wall of a house in the back yard. Those were the Days.
I much prefer this original recording of the Herbie theme in The Love Bug. Didn't care much for the re-recorded one in Herbie Rides Again. It's mainly heard when Willoughby and Nicole first go for a ride in Herbie, where Willoughby insults Herbie's appearance. And then Herbie's dream sequence flashing back to the first film. I know George Bruns composed both films, but I still prefer The Love Bug version of the theme. Which is why I was delighted to hear it briefly played again in Herbie Fully Loaded.
Rode my bike up to the neighborhood theater 5 times to see The Love Bug that summer -- at 50 cents a pop (not including Jujubes). Have to admit, part of it was just to get my music fix for this song.
God I wish I had that during my childhood. They do have a popular drive-in not far from me. I think it's awesome that they get such good business. My mom taped the Herbie movies when they ran on TV in the early 90s and I used to love watching them when I was little.
If you want another great George Bruns road song, look up "Nation On Wheels," originally from "Magic Highway, U.S.A." (1958). It works great on a crowded, fast-moving freeway at 70-75 mph!
We have a guy in Phoenix who has the exact Herbie car, Built it himself. He even has a button that you press on his dash and this song comes on! I have a '65 Beetle. Bought her (Lady) in 1995. I still drive her. I am 58 years old and was 9 when The Love Bug came out in the threatres. I bought Lady because of Herbie! I always wanted a VW Beetle and I love her!
