Some of these bosses were quite innovative, horror-wise. The Possessed Tree is a tree haunted by the spirits of those who died painfully and slowly on it, resulting in zombies manifesting around the tree or being hung from the tree's hooks, which is indeed a horrific, painful death. The Corpse Guest seems to be an amalgam of the spirits of those who served as test subjects of the operating theater the fight took place in. This could explain why the red horned skull can be harmed whereas the individual sheeted ghost couldn't be. The Hell Picture was a painting whose human subjects were actually imprisoned alive within the wall behind it, right underneath their positions on the painting. Judging from the fact that the corpses were still wearing the same clothes from the painting, it is possible that they were murdered not long after the painting was finished. The imagination behind these monsters is remarkable.
The Game Knight I have yet to see a Castlevania (especially side scrolling fan) game other than LoS 2 and that one section from Lament of Innocence where you play as a Vampire...(Alucard doesn't count since he's a dhampir since I'm talking about a full blown vampire).
I found the Caged Corpse and Illusionist to be pretty creepy bosses too. Underneath a quaint little mountain town and behind the broken wall of the town's chapel, a giant body rots away in a prison of ice. Just how did it get there? Worse, did anyone in the town know about it? The Illusionist seems to be in charge of tempting people to stay in the castle and be corrupted by the evil within it. He's so dedicated to his task, it sounds like he's buying into his own illusions.
The Anna boss fight was the creepiest for me. The way she rises from her grave and the way she returns is reminiscent of Lucy from Bram Stoker's Dracula movie.
I second that. What's also great about this game is that it got Konami's blessing. I like how this and the first Lecarde Chronicles game are able to fit in the CV-verse like a side story.
Wow this game has some really cleverly designed bosses, maybe not in gameplay but definitely in style. Most just have unique feels like the painting using different characters in it to attack, or Death literally throwing the corpses of past bosses. It's really interesting. That plant boss that used the four seasons to attack in particular could've been put in a modern Castlevania game and no one would think anything of it.
Am I the only one who feels like this fangame is more spooky than all other konami titles? Like all the bosses feel way more uncanny and disturbing, hell even the levels themselves look scarier with that atmosphere. Maybe it's because of the voice acting and the gutural sounds some bosses make, also the hell picture and anna v. viltheim are creepy af.
No your not the only one. The atmosphere in this game is chilling. the surrounding seem more likely. Castlevania went by way of over the top. The vampires chambers seemed more real than any throne room Dracula chilled at.
A lot of it has to do with the fact that there's no Japanese people vomiting their pop culture crap onto it. The Japanese have ridiculous concepts of "scary" that simply don't translate into western views. WIthout the retarded anime influence, this series could have been eternal.

Bosses like the Hell Painting and Possessed Tree are superb to be sure, but then we get stuff like Trap Statue and Corpse Guest. I want to play this simply because of the bosses. The upended demon was haunting to me and the whole set up of the game, (though simple to many), is intriguing. I am a huge Castlevania fan and hope that I can sit down and go through all of these games in the near future.

I was already finding it interesting that the Slogra and Gaibon bosses are added into the game really - and then - that sudden Death appearance!? I am amazed watching that scene, really!
Great job with this! I've been looking at your channel for some time. One of the few flaws of the game is that a few bosses don't require that much strategy in the end, just get to them in good shape and tank some damage. And like the first game, the final boss was bit of a letdown to me. Great background and music, but from Lucifer I expected something a bit more... epic? Altough it makes sense, as the failure of the ritual has severely weakened him. There's no explanation to how Efrain gets the Von Viltheim powers; my only guess is that their spirits were purified, so that now they assist him. There's also the matters of their indirect link revealed in this game, as they would have been even related, had that marriage been celebrated 100 years earlier. This also makes for some personal theories of mine: - Anna Von Viltheim was buried in the Castle of Eternal Night by an ancestor of Duke Guillecourt to use the desperation of her spirit upon her death; over the following decades, it influenced her family negatively until their complete fall to darkness. - The Church knew that Efrain's ancestor leaving Anna (possibly because of a bigger devotion to his fighting for the Church than to her) ultimately caused her suicide and all of the above. It was not a coincidence that the knight sent in those missions was Efrain, as they thought a Lecarde was necessary to remedy to the wrong made by his ancestor.
Some of these bosses were quite innovative, horror-wise. The Possessed Tree is a tree haunted by the spirits of those who died painfully and slowly on it, resulting in zombies manifesting around the tree or being hung from the tree's hooks, which is indeed a horrific, painful death. Maybe... search on google man.
I must say this game is creepy AF! Great job with the details.
Dope graphics
This looks really good!
100
I was already finding it interesting that the Slogra and Gaibon bosses are added into the game really - and then - that sudden Death appearance!?
I am amazed watching that scene, really!
The bosses and aesthetic remind me so much of Bram Stroker's Dracula for the SNES.
Awesome fangame 😮👍.
Excellent gameplay bro 😁👍
what a crazy fan game. gonna play it for sure
This also makes for some personal theories of mine:
- Anna Von Viltheim was buried in the Castle of Eternal Night by an ancestor of Duke Guillecourt to use the desperation of her spirit upon her death; over the following decades, it influenced her family negatively until their complete fall to darkness.
Those are damn good theories regarding anna
I know this is a late message but could you answer me some questions about the both games Davide ?
Let's hope this game doesn't get taken down by Konami
the soundtrack is great.
@27:10 Wow! Now this is the most interesting boss fight, in this game, I've ever seen!
That Caged Corpse boss reminded me of Adramelech and Balore! Coincedence ? I don't think so!
8:07 that fake cry and those people are just laughing
