I wonder how the older Abu MGxtreme would go , the specs read lighter than the LTX. I'm researching BFS and there's a few MGXtreme around, I have a couple MGXtreme spin reels and they are amazing. Cheers.. Dwayne from Australia 🇦🇺
This guy is the reason I own 6 Bfs reels -2016 Aldebaren -2022 Aldebaren (2 of them) -2023 Calcutta Conquest -Flight feather Cormorant Only reel he hasn’t reviewed that I own is the Acura Hicc 50 Pro. And this guy is the reason I own 10 bfs rods lol.
Not a big fan of the bfs stuff, but the histar bass rod (with T1000+ 40T Toray) is awesome for around $160, the sensitivity of the rod is better than any $300 -$400 rod I had.
@@bxcloud104 I bought the histar generally two pieces s662-ml for $162 free shipping , they also have the one piece rod for $175. It comes with a very nice hard case as well.
very nice video. It would be nice to have a comparison video between the two winners of this video and two others less expensive (Tsurinoya Dark Wolf for example)
The reels like the dark wolf and its clones are already being made obsolete lol. We now have these new reels coming out that weight less than 120 grams
Ive seen some aftermarket spools on Aliexpress but didnt want to pour anymore money into the reel. I do believe that a new Abu BFS reel is coming out with a lighter spool.
very strange we're excited more and more the spools getting lighter even reaching sub3gr but does it really make much difference? trying many things before like avail with aldebaran 22 , chamaleon spools , resetreel spools id say maybe its better to stick to the stock reels and just own proper setup for each type of fishing. for instance sub2gr lures im keening on more towards gekkabijin with braid. for casting long distance above 3gr lures shimano seems to be the king. my next reel would be the conquest bfs xg for this reason which is yet also capable of casting 1gr lures . the xenon is very interesting though , i remember your inital tests were also very surprising that it was casting bfs lures very effeciently despite having a very heavy spool. Abu garcia prooves that the balance between spool and breaking system is the most important factor.
May I know the reason why 23 calcutta conquest bfs isn't included in this battle? I'm thinking about buying 23 calcutta conquest bfs over 22 aldebaran.
Hi when Yu cast Whit Cormano in this video the bearing of Corman Is clean ? The original cormoran bearing spool have a more Grease! The bearing not work!
@@THEREELTEST I don't think their point was to say that you had cleaned it, but to say that it wasn't lubed correctly for whatever the reason. Whether that is true or not, or why exactly they think that, I have no idea.
So does the xenon come with all the magnets installed? Or is it like the older revo 7 I think it was where it comes with 3 installed in several other options. I'm curious could you have maybe pulled a magnet out and done better
Not a Daiwa guy but would you say the new SS Air is better than Gekka/Steez/Alphas? I have some spinning/big conventional reels but never owned a bfs reel from daiwa.
unless you are using really thin braid or only casting sub 2 gram lures, I would avoid the Gekkabijin. It doesnt hold enough line. I personally would not buy another SS Air. The Alphas will perform just as well for much less money.
Unfortunately the test it’s note made well because the SS air it’s not a reel of distance it’s a reel of technical cast like silver creek , distance it’s gekabijin. Just saying 🤪
I'm a staff member from Nako; you must be one of the customers who orders from Europe. Unfortunately, Nako has no VAT registration yet, so we can't deliver to Europe, we are working on this. I believe we sent you an email, but it went to spam. Let me know if you have any questions!!!
@@wpsr576hey I was gonna order the cormorant shallow spool, but the left hand model is out of stock. Do you have an estimated date of the restock of that model?
Think shimano is way to go. Would be all in on cormorant but at almost the same price makes no sense. If was half price or less like most Chinese reels it would be a good buy.
I too prefer the Aldebaran, but why would the cormorant be sold for half the price when it's shown to be in the same class for performance, I haven't held one but they look nicely built too.
@@fantasticleese Shimano is time tested and proven, all gearing and bearings are made in house. Higher tolerances, and Quality control made in Japan, their higher end stuff anyway. More R and D. You can get parts for it fairly easily. In 20 years they're still going to be making reels. Better braking system. You ever hear about Cormerant??? You think you'll still remember Cormerant in 20 years? Easy choice!
No shit, that's why I have an Aldebaran. I'm also the person that requested a measured comparison of the cormorant against Shimano and Daiwa in his last video about it. Now with that out of the way, I don't give a damn about R&D blah blah blah, if something works for my purposes and is of a decent quality, I'll use it. Shimano didn't even offer the Aldebaran bfs in the US until recently, so the majority of owners that have been into bfs for years own a JDM model and warranty is not extended for US buyers of JDM reels. I've never had a problem with JDM reels so the warranty doesn't matter to me and I'd rather save money by purchasing my reels direct from Japan.
Or should I put it in different color , why you should buy a bfs reel if you want to cast long distance, it’s not about that the BFS reels! It’s about technique. I know a lot of fishermen believe all the fish are long away on the other side of lake or creek 🤪✌️
No offense but you said the 2023 Daiwa SS Air is the highest spec bfs reel from Daiwa, when it’s not. The Steez Air is and what you should be comparing to the Aldabaren and Zenon.

Thanks for the measurements, very interesting results! The cormorant put up very respectable numbers for the price point.
I love seeing this along with the standard reviews. Maybe a 4-way cast battle in different price brackets?

Did you use the CU double or the Mavlos plume for the second round of test
I wonder what the Zenon will do with a lighter aftermarket spool? That would make a good video.
Ive seen some aftermarket spools on Aliexpress but didnt want to pour anymore money into the reel. I do believe that a new Abu BFS reel is coming out with a lighter spool.
Zenon with an AMO spool will destroy any of these reels. Casts 1-4 gram lures incredibly well.
Hello. Can you test Aliex's BFS? Valiant eagle 2 x Cormorant x soloking ?? Leaving the TOPs out??
I was looking for a third BFS reel to join my 16 Aldebaran and 22 Aldebaran, ended up with another 22 Aldebaran. That tells you how good they are.
I bought 3 and plan to buy at least 1 more lol.

no removeable magnets on the Zenon. The previous Revo LTX came with extra thinner magnets you could add if needed.
do you have a review on abu alc bf7 ?
This is the same reel as the Revo LTX. The spool and brakes are the same.
There has mod in the market to convert CORMORANT to FTB-like brake, don't know if that change anything.
